Introduction
Upon completing the Personal Report of Communication Apprehension, I realized several things about myself. There are many types of communication, each coming with their own level of “difficulty” or anxiety. I have recognized the fact that I am more comfortable in intimate settings such as group projects and talking with friends and family. Over the years I have not had much experience speaking to large or even moderately sized groups, never really having to leave my comfort zone. My first year of college has definitely expanded my communication skills but I am nowhere near the point that I would like to be. Being a Human Resources major, it is a necessity that I become comfortable with communicating to large amounts of people, being that my goal is to head the HR department at a major company someday. After thoroughly analyzing my Personal Report of Communication Apprehension, I hope to pinpoint my most substantial apprehensions and conquer them.
What results were surprising to you? Why? To my surprise, I received a twelve on meetings, thirteen on interpersonal conversations, and a fourteen on group discussions. Although it seems like an insignificant difference, I have never had an issue with communicating one-on-one and feel most comfortable with interpersonal conversations, so I was expecting that number to be the absolute lowest.
