Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival
Being an avid music lover and a communication studies student, I had a desire to integrate the knowledge acquired during the course of my classes with an event that enabled me to understand the dynamics between culture and music events. This intrigues me to study and experience the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as an artifact of music. Coachella is an extremely popular event amongst individuals of my age bracket where people of diverse races, ethnic background, creeds unite together for the love of music. Considering it the perfect opportunity, I decided to experience the true essence of Coachella. The event is said to be the most popular

Hundreds and thousands of people travel from one country to another just for the sake of a music event. Coachella is one of the biggest and largest music festivals in the United States and the people living outside of the country also love this festival. Many of the top name artists as well as EDM artists attend the event to entertain a maximum crowd of 99,000 or more. I have become a fan of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and I am now hooked on it.
Coachella is a cultural hub where people belonging to different parts of the world unite for the love of music. The platform gives a common ground for different cultures to unite giving cultural space. However, the problem one faces in this situation is that irrespective of the cultural space and camps, people do not get comfortable with the different cultures around them resulting in disharmony. The event seeks to bring music lovers under one umbrella but sometimes it ignites

On the other hand, popular culture can also be considered a process through which individuals can extract meaning in a social context (Fiske). When it comes to Coachella, we can decipher this as a theory about how environment can have an impact on the society. The theory also highlights about the cognitive process through which information is accessed and then overlapped via the Internet. Thus, the prominence of Coachella cannot be avoided and it is natural for the event to surface on blogs, social media, photos etc. this is not it but even when the event ends, news platforms continue to talk about the highlights of the event and also predict the future course of it.
In a world of political discourse with racism and hate running rampant, a few great men and women came together to bring unity and harmony like never before: in the form of massive music festivals. In the late 1972, the black community came together for a concert known as Watts Summer Festival. In 1969, the largest music festival of its time was held, and was known as Woodstock. Later that year, the Rolling Stones put together a massive free concert in San Francisco known as the Altamont Concert. All of the concerts and music festivals were not aimed at making money or becoming famous, but about the unity of people through the art of music.
Within industry there is revolution. Innovation for development and a burning desire for further progression must be realized or risk of failure increases exponentially. Does consistent hard work not correlate with well earned success? Does perseverance parallel evolution? The music industry is not impervious to failure and its institutes must evolve to survive in an ever-changing world of technological advancements. These advancements are utilized and implemented industry wide, including via event promotion to solidify the future of music as a whole. Event marketing, albeit not a “modern term”, has proved vital to the music industry time and time again as it constantly evolves as the music industry business model is redefined. Event marketing and promotion has been defined and consistently redefined as use of technologies upturn.
John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld, and Mike Lang were the minds behind the creation of these “Three Days of Peace and Music”, the oldest of which was only 27. This festival, and all the music played during this time, was extremely influential. Americans at this time needed a weekend of peace, for tension was high. At this time Nixon was threatening to bomb North Vietnam, over 35,000 U.S. military personnel have died in the line of duty, and communism was terrifyingly close to America. Friends and family were overseas, and this music festival was a way to spread the idea of peace and love through a medium that was understood by all: music. This festival would not have occurred if it was not for the high tensions and influence of countureculture through popular music at the time.
Music is a very powerful expression of emotions that come together as a whole to morph your psychological feelings into a sub-reality vision. Over the many years, history has been able to capture the moments at which music has made an impact on human lives. We can start with Manu Chao the artist that sings about left-wing messages and portrays his concerts as “collective therapy”. Or Juan Gabriel the young man that rose out of poverty to become the world’s most beloved artist/songwriter and whose music carried a resonate flamboyant style. Music is a way of communication that is used in many realms such as entertainment, tradition religion and sporting events. So far this semester, Chic 316 has influenced me to seek a more coherent relationship
“Dallas is an amazing city, so I hope that when people come here they don’t see this as the Wild Wild West in terms as the cowboy stereotype,” King said. Hopefully this festival will achieve just that, for people from all over the world have expressed interest in Dallas, and this festival gives incentive for tourists and Dallasites to explore the
Have you seen those weird music festival T-shirts that people wear and wonder what someone could possibly want to wear that for? While they’re sometimes meant to catch attention of people so they may want to look up the festival, it also serves as a reminder for many amazing memories for the two or three-day event. For a long time now music has changed people’s lives in many ways. It has brought people to fame and lifted many out of depressions. But, to those who haven’t experienced a festival, or even live music in general, you have been missing out an amazing social experience like no other. From the kings of festivals like Woodstock or Coachella to the lesser known ones like Rock on the Range (Hard rock/metal based) and Day for Night (variety) there are hundreds to pick from. One of my favorites is Carolina Rebellion which takes place right in this state.
The festival which already receives funding from major companies, can seek out new music focused company sponsorship's that will provide aid for the costs of the concerts. The last opportunity for the festival includes the role it can provide in educating the local youth about local cultural music, theater, and arts. Many may grow up to have a strong appreciation towards their own communities’ festival.
I attended a blues concert in Hayward and it was one of the most culturing experiences of my life. I learned a lot about the culture and context surrounding the blues music. I found the lyrics thought provoking especially, B.B. King’s “Why I Sing the Blues” sung by Billy Dunn. Prior to me attending this concert I hardly knew anything about the blues music or historical roots. I never listened to the blues before, so I am unaware of this type of music, but I learned a lot about this style of music and enjoyed it. I also learned about the impact Hayward had on the blues and blues musicians when African Americans migrated from the deep south to the then unincorporated area of Hayward, known as Russell city. Ethnically, the majority of the attendees were African American, the second highest ethnic group attendees were Caucasian. This makes sense, since the blues and jazz were developed in the south of the U.S. and is associated with Africans. For African Americans, the blues and jazz goes a long way back in history, more specifically their history. It is associated with African American history in America, as well as African oppression and liberation.
First of all it has cultural influence to people because this festival gathers many performances, styles which attract many people come there so the audiences can see and know more about different styles or something they’ve never known before. The Glastonbury is celebrated yearly in different countries with participation of many types of singers, bands; they bring to the festival colorful performance. People coming have a chance to see the new or things they like and can share experiences to other people they got after that. Furthermore with creative operation the Glastonbury attracted attention of people, more and more people and countries realized that this festival was helping them develop their own culture and artistic worth.
“I’ll do it if you do it.” This is a common phrase amongst teenagers. Sometimes it can lead to what adults might call “a poor decision,” but sometimes, most of the time actually, it can lead to an unexpectedly exciting adventure. I never imagined I’d be saying those words to my best friend during our senior study hall. We were about to get three day passes to one of the most popular summer music festivals of all time: Lollapalooza.
The concert I attended was called the Faculty and Student Recital, which took place in the Cisco Auditorium on April 11, 2017. The music that was on the program was mostly what is called “classical” music, as well as a Chinese Folk Song, an electronic composition, and variations on an Indian Tala. In the classical pieces, the instruments that were used were the violin, the piano, the cello, and the oboe. In the electronic composition, the computer was used to make music. In the Chinese Folk Song, the piccolo was used to imitate the unique timbre of a Chinese flute. In the Indian tala, drums from Ghana were used to imitate the rhythm and sound of Indian drums. The piano, the violin, the cello, and the piccolo all originate
Relevance: As college students being the main audience at music festivals now a days, it's an amazing history lesson to learn about where, when, and why these 2-3 day food, laughter, dance, and fun filled events have come from.
trace of the concert ever being there. A concert can entertaining and exhilarating because one gets to see their favorite artist and experience something
Popular culture is generally believed to be comprised of a variety of elements. For example, popular culture covers the most contemporary and instant aspects of our lives. These aspects can often show the characteristics of rapid change, especially in today’s highly technological and informative world in which, people are highly influenced by the universal media. Certain standards of behaviour and common beliefs are reflected in pop culture. Because of its cohesion, pop culture both influences and reflects people’s daily life. Moreover, brands can reach iconic pop status. However, these aspects are not constant and may change rapidly. (Abbott and Sapsford, 1987).
This afternoon, I went to the music concert hall where is located in the music building for the listening hour, a small noon-time concert which is performed by the staff and students from the music majors. Since it is a free noon-time concert, most of the audiences just wear the t-shirts and jeans to the concert. Dresses are not required for the concert. The performance today is given by the Ananda Jazz Ensemble. They have played “Running Away”, composed by Bob Marley; “Madalena”, composed by Ivan Linz; “Conejitos y Ananda”, composed by Abi Romero; “La Bikina”, composed by Ruben Fuentes; and “Chukaro”, also composed by Abi Romero. Because this is a Latin Americdan Journey, all of the music performed is jazz music. All pieces played in the concert are an ensemble of piano, bass, and drums. During the concert, I was trying to be a perceptive listener; I enjoyed the music with concentration and paid attention to the music’s unity and variety, such as the dynamics and tempos. I also tried to associate the music with a picture when I listened to it and understand the emotion in the music.
