I am reading The Rose Society by Marie Lu. I just got it so I am still in the beginning parts of it. The book is about a girl with special powers and how she tries to live in a Society that doesn't like her powers. What I love about this book is how Fantasy is in it. I chose this book because I love Fantasy books! And this is living up to my expectations. You will love this book if you like kings and queens, people with powers, and overall someone not fitting in.
This book report is about a book that I’ve read called Cinder by Marissa Meyer. It is the first book of a four book series known as the Lunar Chronicles. MacMillan Publishing published this book on January 3 2012. The book’s genres are science fiction and romance. There are 400 pages in Cinder. It is about a cyborg named Lihn Cinder who is struggling with an unwelcoming family and accepting the prince's love. The classic fairytale slightly influence this book. I enjoyed the unexpected plot and backstory of the protagonist.
I have chosen to read Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. I have chosen this book based on my personal interest and interest in this specific genre, which is fiction, young adult literature, and children's literature. This book takes place at Mica Area High School in Arizona. Leo Borlock is your average eleventh grader, and he is the only one who accepts Stargirl for who she is. Sarah "Stargirl" Caraway is a unique tenth grader, and she is rejected by everybody in the school. She dances in the rain, plays the ukulele at lunch, and wears strange outfits. Stargirl had small bursts of popularity, but they've never lasted long. Soon after Leo accepts Stargirl, they began a relationship together. As the relationship
The final chapters of In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez left me staring at the book for a few minutes. Not only did the deep characters have me enthralled towards the end but also the theme of the novel really spoke to me. In chapter 7 Maria gets a new diary and write about how she has a crush on two of her cousins( which is kind of strange but acceptable in that culture I guess). Late when asked which cousin she picks she chooses neither. Then she goes and moves in with her Dedè and her sons who have stated an ice cream business that fails. Minerva gets married and pregnant. Later she finds out he husband cheated on her and they move. Trujillo then takes away Minerva’s ability to practice law. Maria and Minerva
The Blossoming Universe of Violet Diamond by Brenda Woods is about a girl named Violet who is biracial which means that she is both black and white. Violet’s African-American dad died before she was born, so she lives with her white mom and teenage sister. In the beginning or the book, Violet’s daily struggles of being biracial in a mostly white town are illustrated. In addition, she questions her mother about her dad and her African-American grandmother. In the middle of the book, Violet meets her African-American mother for the first time, where the atmosphere was tense between her mother and her grandmother. In the matter of a day, Violet’s mother and grandmother reconcile which results in Violet spending two weeks of the summer with her paternal grandmother. In the end of the book, Violet finds her definition of family and begins to accept herself for who she is.
The novel that I chose was Spoiled by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. The main characters include Molly, Brooke, and Brick Berlin. This book is about a sixteen year old girl named Molly Dix, who, after the death of her mother, moves to Los Angeles, California to live with her biological father, Hollywood movie star, Brick Berlin and her half-sister Brooke. Molly isn’t used to living the life of a rich girl, so when she arrives, she is both excited and terrified; not only that, she’s meeting her dad for the very first time. Brooke welcomes Molly to high fashion and fame with an overwhelming dose of “sisterly love”. But in this town, no one is ever what they seem. I think that Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan built the story in a way that would
main character in the novel, has a choice to make, she starts to rebel against the rules of society
I chose to re-read Out of my mind by Sharon M. Draper because I remember Out of my Mind as being a really good and a really sad book. The genre is realistic fiction. I think it is realistic fiction because this story could happen in real life but it didn't in this book. This book is about a girl (Her name is Melody) who is disabled who can't walk or talk. In the book she eventually gets a machine that allows her to push a button so she can “talk”. Melody’s little sister gets run over by her own mom (on accident) because her mom didn't see and it was a rainy foggy day. Melody tries out for this competition that her school does and she makes it and Thai one popular girl doesn't. When they get to the airport they find out that there plane was

The genre of Esperanza Rising is historical fiction. In total there are 259 pages. The overall theme of Esperanza Rising is perseverance and overcoming hardships.
I selected the novel Astray by Amy Christine Parker for our novel analysis. I decided to read Astray after reading the series’s first book, Gated. I first read Gated because it is on the 2015-16 SC YABA nominee list, and I wasn’t disappointed. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. When I saw Astray in the library, I really wanted to know what happened to all the characters, and if this sequel was as good as Gated, so I chose it. I would recommend this series to anyone interested in finding a novel with lots of suspense and plot twists to read.
The book that I have picked is called Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt. This novel is a supernatural/fairy tale-ish book that involves love and death. In this book, Keturah, a 16 year old female, follows a hart into the forest behind her house. She gets lost in this forest for a few days and when she was starving and thirsty a man on a horse comes up to her and tells her that her time is up and that she’ll become Lord Death’s wife. Keturah being the person she is asks if she could stay alive and take care of her grandmother. Death responds that she could say a name and that person will die instead of her. But Keturah doesn’t want anyone to die so she tells him a story about love. In this
Before reading this book, I did not really know much about it. I decided I wanted to do a biography, so I researched the top biographies. I read that this book is very heart touching, shocking, and raw. I want to learn what this girl has been going through and if we have any of the same problems. I chose this book because it has many positive reviews and by just reading the summary it sucked me in.
Firelight by Sophie Jordan, it is a magical book. It has hidden truths, mortal enemies and a doomed love. A girl named Jacinda has been marked as special at an early age. Jacinda knows she is being watched because of her special powers that no one else has. Jacinda lives in a hidden place in the mountains with her family, race and kind.
The book “The Rose Society” reminds me of the book “The Giver.” The Rose Society reminds me of The Giver because each of the characters has a certain job to attend to. Adelina is the main character of the series and the book. She is a Young Elite who has the power to create illusions involving sight just like Jonas in The Giver. Teran is the leader of the Inquisition Axis and works for the king. Enzo is the leader of the Dagger Society. A group of Elites that are trying to take the throne and stop the Inquisition Axis, also like Jonas in The Giver. Jonas is the Receiver of Memory and he finds out the secrets of the society so he leaves his community. Each member of the society has to be perfect, “True leaders are not born, we are made.” They
I read the Graphic novel, Amulet stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi. The book is told from the point of view of a emily also known as the main character of the book.
The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins is phenomenal. This book is filled of twists, and turns. Beautifully written, and it keeps you on the tip of your toes. Hawkins wrote this book to keep you on your toes. This book consists of one main character and she made it to be focus on another character in the end of the book. This was phenomenally written, and I definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone.
