Colleges seems like the best way to get ready, prepared, and strive for my most favorable career. I haven’t decided about my major in college, but biological science seems interesting. For my career I want to be a neurosurgeon, also known as a brain surgeon. I expect to learn on how to perform surgery to repair the damage to the nervous system including the brain, the spinal cord and blood vessels that feed neurological structures. I expect to begin with a four-year bachelor degree, next with four years of medical school, than one year of internship and six to eight years or residency. In college I’m looking for on how the brain works, the illustration of the brain, the tools and machines that help the heart beat of the person. I know that
The human mind is the center of a person’s reasoning and thoughts and today it has gone from a mystery to a unique feature in the human anatomy. The mind is home to one's consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement, and memory. The brain also controls a person's muscle movement, breathing, and even their body temperature. Its anatomy is so complex that many doctors and scientists are continually learning and understanding how the different features of the brain work together to function as one of the body’s most interesting organs. Those who do study the way the brain and the nervous system function together are quite brilliant and are one of the most dedicated group of doctors. There are many fields
Being from rural Appalachia, I know that the inequalities in medicine are high and prevent many from seeking regular medical attention. Early in my life, I saw my friends, neighbors, and loved ones hesitate to seek medical attention due to economic reasons and the inability to access medical care.
Courses I have taken that are relevant to my career interests are biology, chemistry, Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, advanced genetics and applied biotechnology, and physiology. Biology and chemistry have provided me with a basic science background that is essential to understanding more advanced science courses. Human Body Systems and physiology have helped me to learn basic anatomy and physiology through hands-on activities like constructing organ systems out of clay and dissecting a cat. In addition, I learned how basic biomedical science knowledge and research methods in Principles of Biomedical Science and continued this
My neurosurgeon, husband, daughter, and I agreed to a plan. On February 18, he will be removing the right side of my hardware from my skull down to C-2/3 where he will saw the rod in half and leave the rest of my fusion. The right side of my fusion has failed. While removing the fusion, he will be taking four screws out of my brain and one out of my neck. My fusion was placed nine years and two months ago; therefore, it has been in my body for a long time. He is leaving in the left side of my fusion, which is from my skull to C-5 because my neck is not stable enough without it. After he removes the titanium hardware, he will be taking a cadaver bone as well as removing bone marrow from my hip to rebuild my skull. He has to cut down the
Throughout my life, I have had an obsession with learning; I can sit for hours at a time and read books about all kinds of different things that will probably serve no purpose in my life. One day when I was around twelve years old, I started reading an interactive book about the human body. Mesmerized does not even begin to describe my relationship with that book. I have always dreamed of having a career that will require a lifelong pursuit of knowledge; medicine is constantly evolving and diseases are constantly changing, making it the perfect type of career. In the fall, I will be attending Lenoir-Rhyne University to take part in their Physician Assistant program in order to obtain my goal of becoming a Physician Assistant. Due to my passion
Hi I am Jubin and I have known Sai since I was a young boy. I am originally from India, but migrated to Australia with my parents when I was two years old. I moved frequently during my childhood and spent most of my time growing up in rural Australia. Despite my nomadic life, I always maintained a connection to the Sai Organisation. Later settling down with my family in Perth in Western Australia for my secondary and tertiary education.
Throughout my high school education, I have taken a variety of honors and advanced placement science courses due to my strong interest and talent in this field. In all of these courses, I have enjoyed being in class and have excelled academically. I have received a 5 on the AP exams for both of the AP science courses I have taken thus far, biology and physics, and I strive for nothing less than a 5 on my AP Chemistry at the end of my senior year. Due to my enthusiasm and talent in science, I plan to study pre-medicine in college, hoping to be admitted into school of medicine and becoming a neurosurgeon. This has been a life goal of mine for some time now, and I have been taking the initiative to put myself in a position to achieve this ambition. As I have already stated, I have loaded my high school schedule with difficult science classes to prepare myself for the rigors of pre-medicine and medicine school. In addition, my AP Psychology course I took last year further peaked my desire and readiness to study the brain and its functionality. I am also currently working with Riverview Hospital in a volunteer/job shadowing position once a week in order to get experience and to create valuable contacts that will prepare me for medicine school as well as getting a job or residency after completing college. This individual drive to achieve such an immense life goal sets me apart from my peers and is a catalyst to achieve my life
While attending Michigan State, I will become an expertise to understand how to operate the brain under medical procedures. After I graduate from the four year undergraduate studies. I will advance to the next level at medical school. My next task is to transfer to either Yale University or John Hopkins University. These are consider the one of the top medical schools in the U.S. Additionally, I will attend medical school to commit to an addition four years in order to earn my medical degree. Furthermore, my next goal is to obtain my state license from the U.S Medical Licensing Examination. Then I will began to enroll in residency programs to work directly with patients in a hospital. This will approximately take three to eight years to practice surgical examinations. After my residency program is completed, I will be able to operate on patients and use my knowledge responsibly and
I have learned from my experience that there is no better place in this world other than this country to learn about new cases or to do a research project or to avail the best treatments to my patients. With the latest technologies and rare cases found here, I wish to pursue my career as an internist in the United States.I have many attributes to contribute to Internal Medicine. My family has taught me the values of hardwork, honesty, dedication and commitment to goals.I am a critical thinker and problem solver and I will deliver all these to my residency program. Each patient is a educator for me and this teaching attracts me to academics and I look forward to being part of an institution that provides a healthy learning environment based on open
One of the reasons I am so attracted to this field is because its multidisciplinary nature and function in society. I hope to apply my knowledge and skills from previous science courses into something meaningful, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the nervous system. As someone who wants to pursue a career in neuroscience, this would be an indispensable learning experience and opportunity to work researchers of various
Even though I have been interested in Biomedical Science for quite a while, I only know the basics such as Human Anatomy, and simple health procedures. However in the academy of Biomedical Science, I will be able to gain many types of new information. I’ll be able to focus on my future. Many kids do not think about getting an early start. Most of them are undecided on what they would like to do in this one life they have been given. Abraham Lincoln once said, ”You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” This is one of my main mottos in life. Think ahead so that you’re not stuck on it in the future. I have been thinking ahead since 6th grade. I’ve known what I to do and I’ve known where I want to go. High Tech is the perfect school for me. Everything that I need in order to succeed is all in this amazing
Where do you think you will be doing in 10 years? In 10 years I at least want to be in medical school. I know it is a lot of school, but I will go through it to help people. If one day I could help someone through cancer or something it would make me feel amazing. I don't care about money or anything I care about the person's life. Some people don't end up with a job they love. I am willing to go through anything to be a surgeon. I am sure a lot of people are willing to go through anything to have the job they want. Being a surgeon is a lot of work and responsibility. The only way I won't become a surgeon is if I don't try and I will try until it happens.
I am writing to apply for the Neuroscience Graduate Program, University of Rochester, New York. I am a graduate of Montclair State University (MSU), New Jersey, with a double major in biology and psychology. I was born in Afghanistan and completed high school in 2006. It was challenging for a woman to participate professionally in Afghan society after decades of war. However, after completing high school, I was able to start working with databases for international organizations, moving from data entry to developing database software over a two year period.
When a person is interested in being a neurosurgeon its is a good idea to research multiple sources to look further into this career choice. A person may want to take a career interest survey in order to explore all of the options in the medical field. She may research multiple topics associated with neurosurgery and the medical field such as a military programs and other college opportunities. This student should explore options for two-year to four-year colleges, along with post high school out-of-state options that use the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program. After much research, taking surveys, looking at military options, two-year to four-year options, and out-of state options; this student is looking closely at attending The University
Every night, as I sat on the table with my younger brothers assisting them with their homework, I hear a familiar sound at the door. As she walks her heels click, and I can hear her searching her bag for her keys, the next thing I know the keys are in the lock and as it turns me and my younger brothers’ jump. We run to the door and indeed we scream in unison “Mommy’s home”, one by one she gives us a hug and a kiss. My mother asks us how our day was, and if we finished our homework, she then looks to me and said “did you cook and assist your younger ones with their homework”; I replied “yes mom”. As I warm the food, I take my mother’s purse, jacket, and shoes put them away and prepare the table for her to eat dinner. As I glance at the
