There are multiple reasons as to why I want to be a nurse. Growing up, I have always enjoyed meeting and talking with new people. I am very social and caring so I thought nursing would be the perfect occupation to fit those characteristics. I mostly wanted to become a nurse due to an accident I endured when I was fifteen years old. I was in an all terrain vehicle (ATV) accident and suffered a compound tibia and fibula fracture. I was taken by helicopter from my backyard to St. Vincent’s Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. I had acquired an infection in the open wound and was required to stay in the hospital for about two weeks. While there, I received great care from my nurses who were always so compassionate with me and made sure I always had what I needed and even wanted. That experience made me realize that I wanted to be that caring, compassionate person for other people like my nurse were for me. I think I am a person to be a nurse because I am such a people person. I love being around others and interacting with them. I genuinely care about others’ well being and want to do everything in my power to improve patients’ conditions and the care they are receiving. Also, I enjoy learning new things and nursing requires that as it is continually changing. I know …show more content…
I think it is very important to ensure that your patient is comfortable or at least is as comfortable as you can get them. This includes changing the patient’s position frequently and providing any pain comfort with pharmacological measures and non-pharmacological measures. It is also important to make sure that you maintain as much self-dignity as possible when a patient is very vulnerable and cannot do a lot for him or herself. It is also very important that you come off to your patients as approachable so they feel comfortable enough to ask you questions and provide information to you that would be of
I have always wanted to be a nurse: I do not think there is any task that is as satisfying as treating a patient physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. I first pursued my LPN, and immediately I knew I had chosen the right career path. Every day, no matter how tired and weary I felt at the end of the day, I was invigorated by the sense that I had made a positive change in the lives of my patients. To build upon my capabilities to help others, I then pursued my RN. I am currently in an RN-BSN program and hope to begin a graduate program subsequently to become a family nurse practitioner.
I chose nursing as my profession because I always have had a desire to serve and educate others and nursing, which has given me an opportunity to do that. Nursing is a rewarding career that gives the greatest opportunity to save lives, comfort, and care for them. The nursing profession tends to run in my family and have inspired me to become a nurse as well. This profession is the most demanding and helpful profession in the world.
I chose the nursing program because I aspire to be a physician assistant. Helping people have always been a natural passion of mine and the realization of
My philosophy of nursing comes directly from my desire to help people. I want to be a nurse because I enjoy being around people in their times of need and I get internal satisfaction by serving those that need help. I remember when I did some volunteer work for a hospital and that is when I realized my passion for nursing. I believe that the cure for many of the people's ailments is not just in medicine, it is in the care that they receive as patients in hospitals and their homes. This is where I believe that I can make a great difference in people's lives by helping them recover from their ailments.
I cannot attribute my desire of becoming a nurse to following the footsteps of a family member, nor caring for a sick family member as I was growing up. I am a first generation high school student, furthermore, a college graduate. I became a mother at the very young age of sixteen. Being so young and growing up without the care of my parents, it was always said I, too, would end up in a rough situation and not be able to care for my child being so young myself. I continued out my days and nights being a high school teen mom. I graduated from high school in three years by attending night school while I was pregnant; allowing me to finish school sooner and obtain a better job that would allow me to take care of my son.
I want to become a nurse because as a baby I had many difficulties in coming to this world. From being eight months premature and breech, my mother had a hard time giving birth to me. She had to fly from the island of Kauai to Oahu to give birth to me and because I was eight months premature I almost didn't survive. I would not be here today if it weren't for the nurses at Kapiolani Medical Center who took care of me and nursed me into a healthy little baby. These nurses helped me fight for my life and when I was discharged, they gave me a little green doll that I still hold onto until this very day. For this reason, I have the desire to work hard and become the neonatal nurse that I always wanted to be. Being a neonatal nurse will give me the opportunity to
Nursing has always been a natural choice for me. From the time I was a little girl I received satisfaction and enjoyment from providing care for my great-grandmother, ensuring my elderly neighbor wasn’t lonely, various forms of problem solving and all things science related. Compassion, care and critical thinking are merely
I choose nursing as my future career because I enjoy working with others, helping others feel better, and educating people. These three topics are all involved in what nursing is. I believe that nursing is focused on the holistic care of individuals and their families in order to achieve and maintain an optimal level of health, a great quality of life, and comfort. This is done through the promoting healthy living, providing a safe environment, preventing illness, and the caring for the individual and the family.
Becoming a nurse has been my career goal for as long as I can remember. From the time I was old enough, I have had jobs ranging from food service and bagging groceries at the local market, to sales. All of these things provided monetary value to me, but none fulfilled my life enough to choose that as a career path. I have always wanted to have a profession that allows me to help and serve others and my present position as a Certified Nursing Assistant has shown me that becoming a nurse would allow me to do that.
I choose to pursue a career in the nursing field because i was perviously a medical assistant for a while working in pediactric doctors office and loved it , so i felt to need to further my education by enrolling in nursing school to become a practical nurse. Nurses can be versatile meaning work in just about any speciality and establishment for example schools hospitals, physicans office and governemnt agenices and long term care facilities this
In fact, there are several reasons why I chose nursing as my profession. First and foremost is that I want to focus on changing people’s lives (Nurse Journal, 2016). As a nurse, I would study the life's value when I would be seeing individuals struggling to remain alive. Since I am fully aware that each life's breadth is a gift, I would, therefore, understand this lesson further as I would be nursing various patients daily. I greatly respect human life, I possess strong values and I am compassionate for empathy and suffering, factors that have further attracted me to the nursing profession. Second, nursing profession allows continuous learning. As I like learning, I would possess unlimited opportunities for advancing my medical knowledge. As such, I would capable of choosing to work in various departments, train to become a medical assistant and as well enter the nursing management where I would grow and mentor new nurses through sharing my knowledge
I chose nursing as my profession because nursing is challenging, rewarding, and has the ability to have a positive effect on the quality of peoples lives, both physically and emotionally. Additionally, I have a love and commitment to helping others and enjoy assisting people in overcoming obstacles.
I was always undecided regarding the career that I wanted to pursue. As I got older and looked at many choices in careers I realized that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. Being a nurse interests me because it requires the study of the human body along with other great opportunities that nurses have in this career. I want to become a nurse because I like being able to help those who are in need.
I am a very dedicated person. Those who don’t know me might think that since I am in so many extra-curricular activities, there is no way I can give my full attention to each. However, that is not the case. I work extremely hard to do my best in everything I do. These activities have also helped me with my time management. Balancing work and school isn’t too bad, but adding in religious activities as well as community service can be tough. I have worked hard my entire high school career so that I can succeed in college as well as experience everything in high school that there is. Even though I can be stressed out at times, I always try my best to help others and be kind to them because they could be in the same situation as me or
I chose to be a nurse because this allows me to interact more with people. Nursing is a great profession; it allows people to influence and touch lives. I am willing to obtain this significant responsibility. I am keen to be there for the patients through illness, injury pain, loss, grieving, birth, growth, aging, and health. I consider myself as determined and vigorous. I have the desire and determination to accomplish my goal of being a nurse. I am also thoughtful, caring, and open. I believe that my desire and traits would reflect on me being a nurse and would make me successful one.
