I was born on September 17th, 1978 at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. My Parents, Raul and Mirta Pascual, had immigrated from Argentina a few years before I was born. When I was about 13 I started playing soccer and I continued playing until well into my 30's. I started in AYSO, like most kids, and then played all four years of high school. After High School I continued to play on club teams, in indoor soccer leagues and friendly pick up games. I stopped playing

This was my last place of employment prior to being hired by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. Throughout my work years I have gained extensive knowledge on how to deal with people. I learned how to talk and deal with people who are irate and unreasonable as well as dealing with people in their homes face to face. Part of being a good salesmen is being able to build rapport with a customer and by being able to overcome objections. I feel that all of these skills will help me immensley as a Deputy Sheriff.
Ever since I was a kid I have been interested in Law Enforcement. I have always enjoyed watching COPS and shows based on Police work, such as 48 Hours. It wasn't until I went on a ride along that I really thought about pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. My best friend, who happens to be a LA County Deputy Sheriff, took my on my first ride along out of the Palmdale Station. After that ride along I was hooked and I decided being a Law Enforcement Officer was what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life. I went online and started applying at various agencies that were hiring at that

I had preferences, of course, on where I wanted to work and LASD was one of them. There were various reason why LASD was on the top of my list. First, my best friend is a Deputy Sheriff and he is extremely happy with the Department. Second, with such a large department there will be plenty of opportunities for me to work at various assignments. This will help me can valuable experience in different aspects of Law Enforcement This also means that the opportunity to promote to a higher rank is greater compared to smaller departments. Overall I felt that LASD was one of the best agencies to work for due to its history and reputation as one of the best Law Enforcement Agencies in the
I get asked the same question all the time, why do you want to be in law enforcement? My answer: This world has far too many bad people out there and not enough good people. I want to fight the good fight, the best way I know how. By helping the people in my community. With each person I help I hope to spark a change in not only their lives but the lives of those around them. This spark will turn into a flame and then a burning fire of hope, that spreads across this world. This is my
If you really enjoy helping people and being around people then it’s enjoyable, but if you’re not into that kind of thing then it’s probably not the right career for you.” You are dealing with the public and you have to be reasonable and good at speaking with people. You can’t have a temper and you have to be a good judge of character. You really have to have an eye for detail and constantly be on your toes. You have to be somebody that really helps people out. He went on to tell me how I should seriously consider this career knowing my accomplishments in the Army and currently being in school studying Criminal Justice. He told me, “The State is looking for guys like you when they go to hire a person. Someone that stands out above the rest, is honest, has integrity, and is more than willing to work hard and treat people fairly in the world.” I think highly of Randy and what he has done and accomplished. He has been more than a mentor for me and I know I can always count on him. After gaining insight on his career, it is still something I would very much like to do. It is interesting and now more tempting than ever to put school on hold and enlist in the Academy as I am having my doubts on whether or not school is for me. In conclusion, the life of a law enforcer is very different and less entertaining than how it is portrayed on television and in the movies. It is also very different from my career as Military Police but it is still very much a career choice of mine. Because of this new insight and my experience, I am able to compare these stereotypes with the actual roles of law
Although sheriffs are in the best position to ensure that effective human resource policies and procedures are in effect that promote employee retention and improve employee morale, the exigencies of rural law enforcement in many counties in the United States do not provide sufficient amount of attention being paid to these critical issues. The objective of this study was to examine those influences that affect both the recruiting and retention of officers in rural sheriff's departments. Areas of research will include: Pay, benefits, perception, budget freezes, lower budgets, cronyism, recruiting, training, organizational structure and career growth opportunities. Major trends including the economy, worker satisfaction, dissatisfaction, and benefits were explored. The study used a five-chapter format to achieve this objective. Chapter one of the study was used to introduce the topics under consideration, provide a statement of the problem as well as the objective and importance of the study. Chapter two of the study presents a critical review of the relevant and peer-reviewed literature, and chapter three describes more fully the study's methodology, including a description of the study approach and the data-gathering method and database of study consulted. Chapter four consists of an analysis of the data collected during the research process and chapter five provides a summary of the research and important findings.
Throughout my life growing up in Polk County whenever police departments became a topic of conversation, the best department in the area would always be Lakeland Police department. Now that it is my turn to start looking for jobs in law enforcement, the Lakeland Police department was top priority for me. There are many different qualities that this department holds that make it an extremely substantial department to work for. Some of these qualities are stability and high standards set for officers. Some qualities that I could bring to the department are determination and Integrity. The meshing between these qualities is what would make me a great police officer at the Lakeland Police Department.

What many do not seem to realize is that a law enforcement agency is not a job, it is a career. One must truly be dedicated and determined to work in the field because it is all about your love for what you are doing.

The decision to become a deputy sheriff is not one I take lightly, I know this career path is challenging, stressful and dangerous and I have prepared physically and mentally to overcome all obstacles that are thrown my way. The Virginia Beach Sheriff's Department professionalism and commitment to excellence make it an easy choice to begin a law enforcement career. The position as a Virginia Beach Deputy Sheriff falls in line with my college degree in criminal justice and provides me an opportunity to protect and serve the community at the crossroads of where criminal and victim collide. As a deputy sheriff, I have an opportunity every day to dawn the uniform like some of my family members have done in the past and experience the same sense
I have chosen the career of Local Law enforcement. To join this career there are many requirements. For example, there are specific educational requirements, the bare minimum for education to be a local police officer is a high school diploma or GED. Furthermore, most Law enforcement careers require a bachelor’s degree or a certain number of college credits. Although taking classes in college that have a focus in criminal justice and receiving a degree towards that focus can increase your pay and ability to get a job in local enforcement, as well as setting you apart and increasing your chances of receiving different promotions and jobs. Aside from the educational requirements to be a Law enforcement officer there are various other standard

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a police officer. I’m sure, as a little boy, what first caught my attention were the flashing lights and sirens on the police cars. It could have also been then the facts that police officer were permitted to carry a gun and had the ability to run red lights. This is why as I grew up and played games like cops and robbers, I was always the police officer. During my teenage years, I later joined the police explorer program and really started to learn about police work. That’s when I

Integrity I feel it is extremely important to maintain the highest level of integrity and always do what is morally right in every situation, because if you do not then all trust is lost even in the smallest situations. Courage I feel you should always stand up for what is right and there are times where you have to step up and be brave when others cannot. Selfless Service you must be able put others before yourself especially in Law Enforcement to better serve and protect your
