Personal Statement: A Career In Healthcare Management

I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.

I was nine years old when my family made the strenuous decision to come to America; with only a few clothes and barely any money, the pursuit of the American dream seemed more like a fantasy than anything else. Ever since I was young, I was drawn to the medical field. Looking back, it all appears as a nightmare now: a cold room, no electricity, and my parents imploring for the nurses help. Yet this nightmare was my first-hand experience of the detrimental effects of a limited health care. Growing up in a poor town in Albania, I faced minor health concerns, but it wasn’t until I got sick with a common cold that my life almost ended. The unsanitary hospital condition and the lack of medications were part of the sad reality I could not escape from. Thus today, it is my goal to make a significant contribution to the health of the future generations. My passion for the medical field combined with my determination on building and perpetuating an outstanding healthcare service, has led me to pursue a master’s degree in Health Administration

Recently I have decided to change my career choice from being a nurse to being a healthcare administrator. Life has a way of showing you what it thinks is best for you. I had to find out a hard way that nursing really wasn’t what I was supposed to do for the rest of my life. Once I found this out I had to take a step back and look at what I wanted to do, something that I would love to do for the rest of my life. After taking some time and looking around at my options I finally decided on Healthcare Administration. I feel that I would be good at this job and it is something that I can see myself doing for the rest of my life.

My passion for teaching others has led me to ask many questions to my professors and tutors throughout my journey. I know that I will continue asking questions because we will always learn something new every day. That is why even though I have an undeniable passion for language, I would love to have the opportunity to learn what public health really is and how it benefits us as individuals. I currently work in a surgical center called Shammas Eye Medical Center as a medical assistant. I have learned through the various physicians and surgeons the importance of educating patients on prevention and management. Throughout this document, readers will understand a few syllabus that I feel are important for my future career within the healthcare industry, some challenges I encountered, accomplishments, and opportunities that I have gained over the past seven weeks. In addition, taking the step to further my education is an accomplishment for me because if I did not decide to seek my dreams I would still be working at a convenience store. Furthermore, without this course I will not be able to obtain my college degree and seek employment in the healthcare industry. Therefore, it was a pleasure taking this class because I had the ability to gain more knowledge and skills for an administrative job. In addition, there are several insurance plans available throughout the United States; therefore, it is important to have the patient bring their insurance card with them upon arrival to verify his/her coverage.

As a Student in University of Houston Clearlake in Masters in Health Administration and a future Healthcare administration Executive, I will prosper and establish myself as a great example in the Healthcare administration field with the necessity of obtaining knowledge and experience. I will improve the healthcare industry with my skills obtained from this very school and my experiences in the field.

I found the job of a Public Health Administrator to be the most fascinating. I think this way because they get to go around the community and prevent diseases and they also get to promote health.

I am in a position to have a very good understanding on what employees want since for the last 5 years I am been working in a healthcare administrator role. I have obtained a lot of experience from on the job training and also attending an Army Practice Manager and Basic Healthcare Administration Course. They have knowledge, and skills that I see civilian employees are looking for today.

Obtaining a degree is my way to change that, and guarantee a future in which I will be able to independently raise and provide for my son. A degree in healthcare management is a stepping-stone to a diverse array of opportunities. Healthcare is an expanding field, and explicitly, healthcare management is growing faster than average.

I am a health care professional and aspiring to excel in the field of Health Care Management. While enrolled for the Masters in Health Care Management at Texas State University working as a Program Director For SAH and MAP gives me an opportunity to put in practice the theoretically gained knowledge. Applying to this directorship will help me ground my perspectives in health care management while simultaneously making social contacts. I can hone my skills with the practical hands on experience in the subject that i am majoring in. The demographic transition that the world is going through, a major chunk of the Health Care Management of the future revolves around elderly health care.

Healthcare has many different areas one can go into if interested in this field. I have chosen two that have always been an interest to me; Nursing (particularly registered nursing) and an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). Both jobs are very demanding and extremely important. Both are respected jobs and require a tremendous amount of caring for others.

Management as it relates to the health services realm requires a deep understanding of coordinating the delivery of healthcare. One must be able to utilize frameworks to recognize and develop solutions to challenges within managing healthcare. My desire to become a health services manager (HSM) spawns directly from this concept of identifying an issue and being able to present interventions and approaches to improve the overall quality of life for communities.

This quote summarizes my encounter with healthcare as a career. When I relocated to America from a third world country about eleven years ago, I didn’t know where to start from. Majority of those I knew gravitated towards nursing because it guaranteed a job after graduation. As I perused through the internet to learn about nursing and all that it involved, I stumbled into Radiology. It was the beginning of a career path that I have enjoyed for ten years.
