I will achieve success as a student at USC through hard work, determination, and my willingness to seek out what I don’t know. To elaborate on the last point, I need to regress to my freshman year of high school. My freshman year served as a rude awakening for me academically, as school had suddenly become more difficult. At the time, I had the naivete to assume that studying was but an option, and that classes would be as easy as they were the year previous. I turned out to be gravely mistaken, and as my class loads thrust their full weight upon my shoulders, I found myself academically floundering. I was simply too lazy, at the time, to confront the true dilemma; I did not have the drive to succeed. I came to this realization midway through
Hello, I am Kelly Conley and I have recently enrolled at Boise State University (BSU) as a sophomore. My goal at BSU is to earn a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on history and graduate by 2018. I have recently retired from the United States Air Force (USAF) after 24 years of service. My hobbies include white water rafting, gardening, and spending time with my wife of 16 years, Heather.
If I am granted the opportunity to attend USC, I plan to pursue my academic interests within the business aspect of the music industry. I would like to learn how I can be successful in specifically the ever-changing, fast-paced, competitive atmosphere of the Los Angeles entertainment industry. Imperatively, I would like to be taught how I can use my career to make a difference. Music is the tool that I have used all my life to escape hardships, and my ultimate goal would be to be able to give back to the industry that helped me. I would like to be able to help an artist expand their brand and be able to use their music to create a difference in other people’s lives. I am also interested in learning from my fellow students and my professors
Through the course Strategies for College Success Cpd 150 taught by Michelle Garland one can learn many things. Despite this course possibly being more helpful to others then it was to me it did still teach me multiple things. At the beginning of the course I had been dealing with relationship drama and figuring out how online college works, now halfway through the course the drama has subsided and I understand how online college works.I have learned that one of the most important factors of college success is determination. It is a person's ability to keep trying as hard as they can no matter what comes their way. I say this because college can be difficult and even seem pointless at times, but those who are determined enough to keep going, to keep trying, will eventually succeed. Although I am stubborn I have issues staying determined, I do generally accomplish what I need to. Another skill going along with determination is the ability to seperate the various areas of ones life. For example the ability to have a fight with your best friend then go to class and learn just fine. Now while this can be harmfull as well, since it does involve temporarily bottling your emotions, it can also

A student who succeeds is one who encompasses the bravery and courage to start anew. Even knowing that, I was a student who feared every little action I took in high school because of the consequences I was afraid to face afterwards. The uneasiness of carrying out plans alone shaped my character into an indecisive clutter about everything inside my mind. But even with that hindrance, I tackled one of the hardest choices I had to make: choosing Case Western Reserve University over University of Georgia.
College is a life changing adventure, and I want it to be the best experience I can possibly receive. Attending Medgar Evers College, I have set high hopes and expectations. I hope to interact with people of diverse ethnicity. I want to learn more about different cultures and the individualization of people. And so far getting to know people on campus has been one of my greatest experiences. I have met so many wonderfully different people here. I hope to develop more independence. To be more responsible for keeping up with my schoolwork, preparing for tests, and making most out of my classes, even when they start early. Being successful in college is about more than handing your work in on time and passing classes. It’s about staying motivated. I know for a fact there will be a lot of demanding of my time. I know that procrastinating is not the best way of approaching situations. It is my responsibility to try to regularly motivate myself, even if it’s pulling
Academically, I am a student who loves to challenge herself. I will take the harder courses knowing that I may struggle and that the chances of getting a high grade are lower. I am the type of student who makes an effort to understand and fully grasp concepts by going to office hours, asking questions, and studying. I make sure to understand the material and not just learn something for the sake of learning it. I am a driven student who takes initiative when it comes to my education, however I also feel that in college I will need guidance. I am not always sure which route is best to take and I need the support of people who have already gone through similar experiences. USC is a wonderful university filled with some of this generation’s, and
Starting high school, I was not a perfect student. However, over the past three years, it is clear that my grades have drastically improved. Whether it was adjusting to AP classes or balancing extracurricular activities and homework, I became proficient at handling the twists and turns of high school. By smoothing out my rough edges, I have become a student with distinct goals and a strong work ethic. Having experienced both low and high ends of academic success, my abilities and mindset can be molded to any situation. I am confident that I have the talent, ambition, and the adaptive abilities to become part of a guaranteed
I am uniquely qualified to receive the WCU grant because of my dedication to academics, seminary involvement and pursuit of holiness.
It has always been a dream of mine to attend Grand Valley State University since I was in middle school. My older brother did not attend college because he went straight into the military and my little brother is still in high school. I have always had the pressure of doing so well in school because my brothers do not apply themselves. This has pushed me to always do my best. This year it has finally all hit me that I am tired of using my pressure from my parents to motivate me and that I need to be self-motivating. This has taken a huge toll on my grades because I am transitioning.
Throughout high school, I have learn that one can accomplish so much in their education if they work hard. So as I start my college career, I aim to achieve my main goal to be on the Dean’s list every semester. I have prepared myself by developing good studying habits and time management skills that have benefited my grades in school. In addition, I plan to not only use my good habits but also to ask for assistance when needed, get involved in clubs, and find volunteer opportunities. I am confident that I will do exceptionally great at VCU because I feel they have one of the top professors, great technology, and a great environment to further my education.
The expectation that I hold for myself in life is success. I have many goals I wish to achieve in my future; however, the only obstacle in my way is hard work and myself. Of my many ambitions there are still many out of my reach, but of the ones achievable without too many years passing are the issues I’m considering and preparing for already. More than anything, I wish to graduate as Valedictorian of my class, be accepted into a college with a free-ride, and when I move to my new school for senior year I will still try to follow my dreams no matter the challenge. After high school, I plan to attend several challenging colleges some ideas are UT Martin or Vanderbilt. This education will allow me to live my life as I wish; with a high paying
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
Now, I am more than prepared and excited to attend a true university and dedicate myself to my schoolwork and school activities, in an effort to live up to my own hopes and expectations and, in the process, prepare myself for a satisfying and successful future. I have already achieved a perfect GPA in both my last semester of high school and first semester of college, even while taking all Advanced Placement classes my senior year. My primary goal is to continue this trend or, at the very least, come very close. I have also shown dedication and achievement in skipping a year of college, instead, coming in as a sophomore, all while working thirty hours a week and volunteering with my school’s theatre during productions. I regard myself as compassionate and caring, primarily, followed by dedicated and driven leader, and, finally, competent and problem-solving. Despite everything, I rarely feel overwhelmed and unable to achieve at work and my goals. Transferring to a university, I aim to continue such aspirations; however, my biggest downfall has always been to participate in an
I have really high expectations for myself and what I am capable of this fall at Mount Olive College. I have very high goals for myself and have revised what I believe to be a well guided plan to achieve them. I feel eager and excited to unleash my mind, thoughts and the power of my determination. I know that it’s going to be a lot of hard work and its going to take a lot of time. Also, with that comes the bittersweet of sacrifice, of parts of my life that I am going to have to change in order to succeed. But my grandfather has always told me “anything worth having is worth working hard for.” I am my biggest critic and supporter all in one. I know that the only person that can stop me from doing what I came to do is me. No one else has the
