There are few certainties of what one will encounter during life. A common joke names two: death and
Since fourth grade, I’ve been recognized as a GT student, which stands for gifted and talented. I’ve been selected to participate in the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders summer program and the National Youth Leadership Forum for National Security, Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Defense. My school district has selected me to attended SA-PREP (Prefreshman Engineering Program) for the past four summers. Each of those summers have been spent at San Antonio local colleges such as Northwest Vista College, Texas A&M San Antonio, St. Mary’s University, and University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). Some of the reasons that I believe that I would be a great member of the Manhattan Hunter Science high school is because I am an incredibly social child and is always looking to make new friends. I am is a positive risk taker and a great "team-player" because I am always looking to help my peers who might be struggling. Whenever I do poorly on tests on any exam, I become persistent and work harder to improve. In addition, Manhattan Hunter Science is early college high school that focuses much on science and achieving success for its students. According to Manhattan Hunter Science, “Our mission is to bring alive the power of curiosity and passion in each and every student and to help maximize their academic potential.” With such quality standards
I would love to attend Wake STEM Early College High School because I believe it will give me a head start on my learning after the high school level. Your program will improve my college experience and save thousands of dollars in college tuition by giving me an associates degree and high school diploma upon graduation. I am also exceedingly interested in a career in science or mathematics. I have always been focused on learning science and math because it is something I love to do and I can have a successful career in the future by using those skills. I understand that attending this prestigious school will require a certain level of maturity and willingness to work hard. As an 8th grader at West Lake Middle School, I am a member of the National
High school is an important time for developing a sense of who you are as a person. Each kid who starts out high school will usually asks themselves what they are there to accomplish. For the most part, many set personal goals for themselves and strive to achieve above and beyond. However, some are just there for the experience and to see where it takes them. It’s apparent that some kids have an easier time and don’t have to struggle with their high school career. For example, some of the students have followed strong academic paths that have prepared them for this time in their lives, where as others have struggled with educational influences and feel unprepared or lost. Swerdlow mentions that the students, who attend J.E.B. Stuart, are given many chances to improve their educational foundation in order to
Hello my name is Hannah Hagen, I go to Saint Rose Catholic School. In less than a year I hopefully will be attending Paso Robles High School. I want to participate in the magazine club; I always have loved to interact with others and I love to do creative writing. In my school I give input on each subject, I’m a very vocal person. While others might view that as a negative trait but I think that it is very good to speak your mind and voice your opinion. I volunteer at the local food shelter and feed the hungry. I also participate in volleyball and basketball. I’ve been playing sports my whole life and plan to play different kinds. At my school I participate in the technology program; it is one of my favorite
I should be grateful that I was accepted into any high school. Although it was not my initial choice of high school, I should work my hardest there. In fact, any high school was fine as long as I put in all my effort to study and learn. A certain high school should not brand a person as a certain way, but rather the effort that the person gives. With a burning passion, I swore to myself that if I don’t get accepted to something and I put in my best effort, it will be alright. A chance will come along and I won’t beat myself over it.

I am Rachel Ewurabena Enchill and I’m very interested in Manhattan/ Hunter Science High School (MHSHS). A couple weeks ago I was online, scrolling through hundreds of schools. I did not know which schools to choose and it got to a point where I didn't care which ones I selected. I thought to myself, 'it's just four years, I could just wing it'. I had no idea what to do, who to go to, or where to start. Until I found out about MHSHS. The night I found out about this school, I stayed up for hours doing research on this school. MHSHS was one of my first choices and I hoped my grades were good enough.
I am Takeda Shingen. I am a samurai. I come from a proud family of successful strategists and fighters. My two brothers, Takeda Nobutora and Takeda Nobukado, are assisting me in managing my armies and are commanding large forces. My seven sons are commanders and fighters in my armies and will continue to serve me, even once I have passed. I do my family proud, I am and have been a successful military leader for several years (see figure 1). Off of the battlefield, one of my greatest achievements is creating a dam to protect the Fuji River. The benefits of this project will endure long after my time and outlast any of my military and political achievements.
Pursing a career as a medical doctor is an opportunity for me to mentor youth in underserved populations. As a child, I was raised in the low income, urban community of Roxbury, MA. Although not as notorious today, the neighborhood had garnered negative attention for its high crime rates. My mother emigrated from Haiti and raised me as a single parent. Due to our financial circumstance, Roxbury became our permanent residence. I have always felt there was something lacking in Roxbury in comparison to other towns I visited. My teenage years were largely spent in the suburban town of Stoneham where I attended high school. There was a literal difference in air quality and a psychology contrast in future prospects. While native students of
Upon entering high school, I made a goal to myself: I wanted to become a better version of myself, realizing my own strengths and weaknesses and, ultimately, preparing to be a part of a completely different atmosphere beyond high school and even college. From the beginning, I knew I was going to find a way to improve academically, as a member of Kingsway’s STEM Academy and Superintendent’s List throughout my high school career. However, I would never think that I, as an eighth grader, would ultimately rise above my classmates, eventually being third in my class freshman year and still enjoying the rigor of taking as many AP and Honors classes as I possibly could fit in my schedule. By being recognized and awarded for my achievements, I finally realized that being this type of student, one that strives to do the best and remains self-motivated no matter what difficulties are faced, gives me a purpose as student and overall enjoyment.
In our lives, we have to make important choices, and sometimes our choices determine our happiness or sadness. As a Filipino, our families tell us to do well in school and to not make bad choices because they want us to be successful and to have ethical morals. Growing up as a Catholic, I was taught to be obedient and respectful to my family which has shaped who I am today. Yet, I too made some mistakes, and I learned from the consequences. From my failures, I learned to not belittle myself, but to grow.
