Consilience - The Journal of Sustainable Development will allow me to share my passion for building a sustainable world. As a youth ambassador for Plan International, I have become cognizant of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, and how to accomplish them. In the global development club I run in my school, we are constantly searching of new ways to target different SDGs. We have organized projects and events relating to climate action, gender equality, clean water, sanitation, and quality education. At Columbia, I will be able to capitalize on my past experience to serve as a noteworthy voice in Consilience. To build a sustainable world, collaboration and global cooperation are essential. It is arduous to globally
My vision as an undergraduate student of the Haskayne School of Business (HSB) is to become a well-rounded influential leader and equip myself with a set of skills and values that will enhance me as an individual in my career. Thus, my goal is to succeed academically and socially, graduating with a distinction and having built strong relationships.
Pursing a career as a medical doctor is an opportunity for me to mentor youth in underserved populations. As a child, I was raised in the low income, urban community of Roxbury, MA. Although not as notorious today, the neighborhood had garnered negative attention for its high crime rates. My mother emigrated from Haiti and raised me as a single parent. Due to our financial circumstance, Roxbury became our permanent residence. I have always felt there was something lacking in Roxbury in comparison to other towns I visited. My teenage years were largely spent in the suburban town of Stoneham where I attended high school. There was a literal difference in air quality and a psychology contrast in future prospects. While native students of

USciences gives me the opportunity to attain higher education. By attaining higher education, I will be able to apply the knowledge and experiences I have gained in the workplace. Furthermore, USciences provides a great opportunity of various clinical settings, hands on experience, and allows me to be a part of a diverse group of individuals within the community. I believe hands on experience in various clinical settings will enhance my ability to provide better care for my patients. By enhancing my abilities, I will feel more confident in what I do in the future. Like any other career, I feel like it is important to feel confident in your job. For example, with physical therapy, patients are trusting the physical therapist to provide the best
I, Moin Ahmed and my spouse Ismat Ara, continuing our married life since August 22, 2014. I have been working in a prestigious university, as a Lecture since April 8, 2012, and getting a lump sum salary. My organization already provided me No Objection Certificate which is attached with this application and there it is mentioned that, my institution will have no objection if I go abroad to reunite with my spouse, and I will get leave of absence and will be able to join in the same organization after coming back in my country. This NOC is giving me the opportunity to apply for this visa and accompany my wife in her hard times when she is struggling to cope up with a new culture and new environment.
Food For Thought (FFT), an organization founded in 2016, is one of my most prideful activities of completion. FFT is a local food pantry that is run by National Honor Society (NHS) members. Members pack food that feeds over twenty students and families each week. After I was elected Vice-President of NHS, I was offered the presidential position alongside another colleague to run the pantry. Working within the pantry allowed me to care for my community, gain morality and change the world. The world will change when individuals take action and I was honored to do just that through FFT.
My personal philosophy is made up of a combination of questions and ideas from the three branches of philosophy: metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. Metaphysics is the study of where the world comes from, what it is made of, and if anything is eternal or changing. Epistemology focuses on what we know, how we know it, and if there is any absolute truth. Ethics analyzes decision making and morals.
When I took my USC tour before my freshman year, I fell in love with the campus and became very interested in exploring all the opportunities presented by the ambassador. I fell in love with the beauty of the Horseshoe and greatly appreciated the generosity and politeness of the people I met. I want to inspire prospective students to fall in love with USC as I did. I would also like to explore this opportunity to develop as a person and make good friends in the process. It gives me great pride to tell people I attend the University of South Carolina and cheer on my team at every football game. When people ask me why I went to school so far away, I generally stick to three answers. The weather is great, the sports are amazing, and the people who comprise the University are fantastic.
Since an early age my passion has always been to help others. In every aspect of my educational career and in my jobs, I have always determined that helping someone is the goal. Helping people is a goal that can be achieved in any work field regardless of what one does. For the last five years, I have volunteered for a non-profit organization named “Hogar de Ninos: Semillas de Fe” (translates to “A Home for Children: Seeds of Faith”). In this organization, a group of young adults have traveled to the Dominican Republic once a year for a period of two weeks each trip. Our goal is to help the impoverished children. These children have been exposed to countless traumatic events including being physically, emotionally, and sexually abused. The organizations mission consists of helping develop these children
Stepping on to my high school’s campus for the first time, I felt a little nervous, a bit excited and very clueless. I rushed to my friends who were conveniently standing near the entrance; almost as to feel safe. The transition from middle school to high school meant very much to me. I entered high school knowing that it was my chance to finally work towards reaching my goal of attending college; it was the chance life had privileged me with. Looking back it all now, It was a change I didn't feel prepared for, yet, I regret very little and glad I worked as hard as I did.
I started my career in an unorthodox way: delivering science and technology news directly to
Background. My application paper addresses a relationship that I have with a colleague of mine who I met in the Fall of 2013. My colleague's name has been changed for privacy purposes. The first interaction with Stephen came when I was pledging a fraternity on campus. Stephen was a handsome guy, he spent a good amount of his time to maintain his physique and professional appearance.
I believe that everyone needs to have a belief. I don’t believe in god, but I believe in something. I believe in myself, humanity, and the greater good. Whatever makes you happy is worth believing in. If I want to believe that my loved ones go to a beautiful place when they die, then I’m going to believe that no matter what. I believe what I believe and no one can ever take that away. We all have different opinions and views of the world around us. That is perfectly fine. Where there’s something to believe in, there’s reason to live. Where there’s reason to live, there’s happiness. The goal of life is to reach our own sense of happiness.
I want to be part of a high school that offers a challenging learning environment that will help me further develop my critical thinking skills and help me become a cooperative, creative and meaningful problem solver. I want to play my violin in the school’s orchestra and try out for the tennis team. I want to do all of these things in a Christian-based environment with other kids who share and appreciate their faith. I want to go to school with good kids. My cousins, Garret, Audrey and Nicole Nourse attend Orange Lutheran and love everything about it. They’ve told me so many great things about this school, including the outstanding teachers they’ve had. They’ve done really well in their classes and have had a lot of fun. They seem to be well
