When thinking about getting away to some serene paradise to help forget about work or school obligations most people instantly think of the beach. Whether it be the west or east coast the beach is a universal symbol of peace and serenity, plus a little bit of fun. But this bliss has a whole different meaning to me. This is where I grew up and how I found myself. The west coast of Florida is the first time I felt the sand in my toes and the salt water on my face. These memories inspired me to give back to the ocean and its inhabitants and follow my dreams of becoming a marine biologist.
When I was young I was so interested in marine life and how the world under water was so different from ours. It wasn't until I visited Mote Marine when I was exacerbated by the abundance of reef fish species, the beauty of coral reefs, and Mote Marine’s numerous research programs. This is when I knew that I wanted to get involved. I believe this internship will get me one step closer to following my dreams and educate me further on the vast ocean.

To me nature should always win in the battle against humanity. This is why this internship is so important to me. I want to give nature a helping hand in its road back to rehabilitation and I want to be the voice to something so big but so intimidated by man. I think this opportunity will open many doors for me and help me focus on my career. Saving marine animals is a passion of mine and being involved this type of research is something I have not yet experienced but will be devoted
I’ve always had a keen interest in science. When I was younger, I viewed a dolphin show online. I was instantly fanisnated and later I was informed that the trainers were special marine biologists. The idea of becoming a marine biologist is still a dominate career choice for me. Last year, I was incredibly curious with the aspects that a marine biologist has to undertake that I researched the career path as part of my PLP. This only ignited my interest even further and when I was invited to attend the Flinders University I particularly focused on the marine biology and biology lectures.
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology degree is a fifth grader’s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing coral reefs to die out—which houses thousands of organisms’ homes and food sources. Due to the contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day. Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions. Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage
How The Forked River Tuna Club Scholarship will help me further my educational and career goals in the marine or environmental sciences or a related field.
What isn’t at the beach? The beach is a relaxing and comfortable place to be with friends and family. Whether it’s taking a walk on the beach as the golden sand oozes under your toes or relaxing on the beach as the bright sun beams on your skin. Suddenly you get hot, so you decide to take a swim as the waves smash into the shore. If you get hungry, conveniently there’s a surplus of foods to choose from to satisfy your cravings. If you get bored, games, rides and amusement rides are available at your fingertips. From beach to beach, Ocean City, MD to Assateague Island, the shores have a lot to offer. The coastlines which are 18 miles apart, are vastly different due to the history and founders of the east coast beaches. You’ll observe the benefits they have to offer their communities and see just how important these places are.
As I walk towards the ocean with the sand warm beneath my feet, the waves lap at my ankles, seeming as if they want to pull me out to sea. The sun rises over the horizon, reflecting off the waves and shimmering like gold. The salt air smells tangy as it stings my nose with the smell I crave while I am away from the ocean. The Outer Banks in North Carolina has been my favorite place to go from my first memories. I look forward to going there every summer because there at the ocean I feel at home. It is a place where I can forget every stress in my life and be totally at peace. It is a place where my family can spend time together, not like at home where we all have activities and places to be. The Outer Banks is not a beach where the ocean
The job of a Marine Biologist is a very unique job that dives deep into the study of ocean life. This paper will go into detail about the general duties of the job, one's aptitude towards the job itself, and special qualifications and requirements needs to succeed in this workplace. The duties of marine biologists vary depending on who you work for, for instance say you work for a company that wants to dive to the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean that is currently known to man. A marine biologist can be tasked with helping build and deploy whatever tools that will be needed for said expedition.
I am currently finishing my junior year at Flagler College. This summer will be my last chance to intern as an undergraduate. I want this internship to be at CSUMB, with Dr. Steve Moore. Dr. Moore’s interest in studying marine biology through innovative methods is the perfect fit for me. I am interested in learning how to use new technologies to better understand and protect the marine environment. I want to study at Monterey Bay because the marine science department is much larger than that of my college. Along with having more equipped laboratories and work areas. The Ecosystem Electronics Lab has numerous resources that do not exist at my college. At Flagler College, there are only two laboratories and a small molecular room. In years past,
As already mentioned in the previous paragraph, marine biology is basically the study of organisms or creatures that live in the ocean or in saltwater environments. Though the education of marine animals is a big part of marine biology, the study of their habitats and ecological environments is another part of this job. While marine biologists study the ocean and its inhabitants, they can learn many things about humans and are able to find the cures to many diseases and sicknesses by studying and extracting ocean plant life and conducting examinations of marine animals. An experiment on sea urchin eggs determined how chemical substances can have an influence on the growth of the embryo. (Sorrell 6) Drug companies are currently testing
Do you like the ocean? Well there is a great career where everyday you work to sustain life in the ocean. I believe that college is important to become a successful Marine Biologist
I have known of my aspiring interest since I was a child. To swim with dolphins and be in water as a job has always been a dream that my family continuously encouraged. It was about the fourth grade when I could put a name to the specific profession that I wanted to partake as an adult. I believe that becoming a marine biologist would be the best way to fulfill my dream. My strength and passion for science will naturally help me to be a strong and dedicated student to further my studies.
WOW! did you see that fish past by. When I grow up I want to be a marine biologist. When I went scuba diving last summer I saw a bunch of colorful fish and two sand sharks. I decided that I wanted to study sealife. I new there was a job for that but I forgot. I searched it up and found marine biologist and that’s what I want to do and how I got inspired
I want to work with Dr. Steve Moore for his interest in studying marine biology using innovative ocean technologies. Working with Dr. Moore will allow me to further my knowledge in marine biology by using field methods that I am interested in, but have not had the chance to work with. I want to learn more about using ROV’s and other technology to monitor underwater environments. Studying in the Ecosystems Electronics Lab will give me a unique chance to research the twilight zone and other marine environments through field methods not available at my college. In working with Dr. Moore, I hope to enhance my understanding of marine biology by applying new ocean technologies to my research.
The goal intended in the mission is applying for students to get hands on experience into the studying of all fields of marine science. I believe getting the hands-on experience in this major would be such an important thing for me as a student because it will provide me the sense of interpretation of what I’m going to be doing once I graduate and get my career
Good Afternoon students and teachers. Thank you for allowing me to speak for you today. You may or may not know that I want to be a Marine Biologist and Oceanographer. I am taking steps to gain experience and training in those fields before college. Colin Powell said “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation.”
Carl Safina is an American author who focuses on marine ecology and has written numerous successful books regarding human relationships with nature and the ways the ocean is changing. In October 2015; he attended Mission blue II. Mission Blue is a campaign that “Ignites Public support for global networks of marine protected areas” (https://www.mission-blue.org/). During his time at Mission Blue II; he recorded a video of himself discussing the topic that a lot of humans as themselves from time too time… “Can animals think or feel?” (Safina, Carl. "What are animals thinking and feeling?" Carl Safina: What are animals thinking and feeling? | TED Talk | TED.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 05 July 2017. .). He brilliantly answered this question by saying
