Personal Statement : My Family

It’s true that a father is a daughter’s best friend and her one and only hero. Well, mine is. Although some things have changed and it’s not like before, I still love my father. There was a tragic event that took place in my family’s life; it affected me and made me a different person after that incident. I have learned that going through hard times makes you stronger, and I want to let people know that giving up should not be an option or choice in our life. I have realized the importance of my family in my life because they are the only ones who are there for us till the end. "Once I learned how to listen, I discovered that most adolescent and adult women suffer from their father 's emotional distance and lack of involvement in the family life. In their words, dad was ‘self-absorbed’, ‘unavailable’, ‘tied up in his own ego’, and 'incapable of dealing with feelings" (Maine, Margo 115). Indeed, I heard my cousins talking about their family problems with their parents. They did not get to spend quality time with their father and that used to make them feel stressed and sad. But, in my case no matter how tired my father was he always used to give some time to his family and I was happy about it. I felt like every family has problems except mine. I considered myself the luckiest one of all. However, like other fathers even my father used to go to work and was a busy person, but whenever he was back home he used to show his bright side of him. My father was a person who used to give his best at his job but, he never used to show his tiredness in home, he was someone who used to give as much as time to his family . It was a blessing to grow with such a lovable father. My mother at the other hand was really caring and loving. She used to spend quality time with me, and always guided me in everything I do. At that time, I felt like my world was complete and happy. Everything was so perfect that I could not ask for more.
