After the very first class of the semester, I always looked at my classes’ syllabus to see what the final is. That, after all, is my final goal and what I am working towards to prepare for by the very end. So when I read the “Personal Leadership plan” I was intrigued by it and couldn’t wait until we got to it. And now we’re finally at the end, and I finally get to read and share what it’s all about. I think that God is the first clear-cut person who has helped influence the development of my character. Without him, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today. I wouldn’t be the servant I strive to be daily. The other people who have helped influence me are my family and friends. My friends are a huge influence that I couldn’t over look. When you’re growing up, you pick up certain things that help form the person you become. And without friend that challenged me to be the person I desired, I couldn’t be the person I am today. Finally, I believe my family helped in a giant way too. I got to experience a lot more things with my family than normal students might get to experience. So, of course, they also played a huge part of my character growth.
I think the Bible has a lot about leadership, like how to be a great leader, as well as exam-ples of how to not be such a great leader at times. Those are the principles I follow and try to tie into my life. But one particular thing that sticks out to me recently has been Acts 3:6. It says, “Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not
An effective leader must have a plan for success. This includes a personal plan of growth as well as a professional plan for improvement. This paper will attempt to highlight my personal strengths and weaknesses as leader, identify the areas needed for improvement, and identify the leadership skills and practices that I will use to become an effective leader. This paper will also give an outline of the goals that I consider a priority and a timeline for this development. The overall result will be an inclusive leadership plan of development that I will use to grow myself as well as any organization that I work for in the future.
First, about my past leadership skills were understanding and gaining knowledge from people. When I was a child, I would always look up to my father and mother as role models to help lead a family together. Both of my parents gave me positive reinforcement in school and out of school so I can be successful in life. I have also taken an interest in
Is a leader as defined in the Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, merely one who leads - synonymous with a boss? Or something more? I believe that a leader is much more than that and can be defined in any number of ways. In attempting to define a leader personally, I will use both myself and others as examples.
When asked who has had a significant influence on me, I was forced to stretch my mind. There are so many people who have pushed me to become a better version of myself in every way possible, but there is one person in specific who comes to mind. My sister, Emma Riedl, has been a role model to me since I was able to walk (she taught me). She is my hero and best friend. Emma is has had a significant influence on me due to her drive and hard work and her ability to be strong and independent.
While I attended Wichita State University for my bachelors of Social Work, I was afforded the opportunity to participate in a leadership program two consecutive years. We learned tips on strategies to become more effective leaders. Whenever I participate in activities that require me to take a leadership or supervisory role, I tend to think of what I learned in the program. The conflict that I identified as a supervisor in this activity was mainly that we had a student with erratic behavior, with firearms at home, and a mother who not only, saw nothing wrong with it, but wanted him removed from public school and is largely uncooperative with the school regarding his psych eval.
Personal Assessment and Leadership Development Plan Introduction The focus of my personal assessment and leadership development plan is to denote the values, beliefs, thoughts, and actions that will propel me into a state of personal fulfillment as a more complete leader at home, in the workplace, and in the community. The preparation of this document will result in the creation of a deliverable to be frequently referenced and used as a reminder of the overall direction and more specific strategies to achieve my personal and professional hopes, dreams, and aspirations, as well as put into place a foundation for facilitating leadership development in my communities. My more immediate aspirations include being promoted at the
According to Hans Urs von Balthasar “a vocation is something lived, something enacted and a concrete life story” (Contino, 2004, p. 85). My vocational life story has developed over the past forty years with my first job at twelve babysitting six children to where I stand today teaching home economics at Chowchilla high school. “I build my own life story through the decisions of projects I undertake” and the choices I have made regarding my career path (Contino, 2004, p. 85). Someone looking from the outside at my wandering path might believe of my career changes seem a bit radical. Moving bicoastal, leaving a stable career of twenty five plus years to go back to college, take a pay cut and joining the unstable labor market of Home
I will begin to use the tools I learned in the Leadership course such as balancing supportive and directive behavior. I will also, add the tools that will be learned from the books above, to this plan. Furthermore, I will pursue finding a mentor to help ensure I am on the right path.
Throughout life one will encounter many experiences and there is a lesson within each of those experiences. Right now as an activity aide in a nursing home my passion is to make sure each and every resident gets some sort of enjoyment out of their day whether it’s from reading the newspaper, having coffee outside or its getting their nails painted. I just want to make sure their day has some activity that they enjoy. My dream job after graduation is to work in a hospital in the palliative care/hospice as a social worker. In this setting I will still get to make
This paper will incorporate four of the self-assessment I completed (Leadership, 2004). They are as follows; social motives in the work setting, my leadership styles, emotional intelligence, and team excellence. I will also identify and discuss my leadership characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses. We must first understand what leadership means. To lead, nonetheless, is to excite, to impact, and to inspire. Successful leaders move others to draw in incredibleness, to stretch out themselves and to go past their perform work necessities by producing innovative thoughts. It has been said that directors are individuals who do things right and leaders are individuals who make the best choice." This refinement is to some degree exaggerated since successful leaders do a considerable measure of overseeing and compelling chiefs need to lead.
What is your personal vision for leadership? How are you going to lead Others? Why?
During the last six weeks, I have learned a lot about the true meaning of a good leader. The discussions have helped me identify what my strengths are and what are the areas that I need to improve on. Although, I have been in management roles, I would not identify myself yet as a leader. I am a very result driven individual which is strength of mine, but that can also lead me to be desensitized to other’s emotions or challenges they might be facing. Throughout the course, I have also come to realize that I have limited self-awareness. On the contrary, one of my strengths is my social awareness. I have the ability to go into social or networking events and pick up on emotions, or facial expressing to understand the overall mood of that environment. To be socially aware is particularly beneficial because, I can find common ground with anyone I meet to initiate conversation. Therefore, when I see that person again, I can make those personal connections. Another one of my strengths is the ability to look at a current process and streamline it to a leaner, more effective and efficient way. During the last several years I have been hired to be the visionary of new divisions and to implement processes that would support the company’s vision and mission while still driving results. My values are what contribute to the success I have been able to achieve over the years, however. My resilience and work ethic towards my job shows through in the

Slowed by bureaucracy and with an eroding stock price, the beverage maker was slowly loosing its market share to rivals like Pepsi. An inspirational leader, Goizueta was able to turnaround the beverage maker and before his exit, the company had become one of the most recognizable brands in the world. His managerial style as Rowe and Guerrero (2010) point out was more intellectual than hands-on.
My Personal Leadership Development Plan (PLPD), will demonstrate my awareness of great leadership and how it not only establishes the course and destination of my team, but it also equips others to effectively and efficiently follow by providing education, training, resources, and support as necessary. My study of the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) was important to me accessing my leadership strengths and weaknesses, and developing an action plan that includes setting goals, establishing priorities, appropriating gifts, talents, and creativity, and utilizing resources. As a leader, I am empowered to impact my followers to rise to, and when necessary, go beyond their believed potential.
