There are countless reasons why I have chosen Xavier University of Louisiana. Xavier will guide me to exceed all of my expectations with plenty of effort, focus, and determination. One of my main reasons for coming to Xavier is the wonderful biology pre-med program. I know that Xavier's dedicated faculty has helped many African Americans attain their goals of completing medical school. Whether a professor teaches an essential concept or an academic advisor assists with application processes, Xavier has all of the resources I will need to go to medical school. Going into Xavier, my expectations include becoming an ideal candidate for medical school to become a dermatologist or pediatrician. I plan to meet this expectation through rigorous
To buy or not to buy, that is the question. Although it was the greatest “real estate” deal, the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 was perhaps one of the most controversial events in American History. President Thomas Jefferson, although he was a Founding Father and the primary writer of the Declaration of Independence, faced major opposition with his decision to purchase the Louisiana Territory from the French. Most of the opposition he faced, however, was domestic.
The college of my choice is Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University located in Prescott, Arizona. Embry-Riddle is exactly 1,869 mi from where I reside and it would take me 1 day and 7 hours if I decided to take a road trip there instead of getting a plane ticket. I choose Embry-Riddle University because I did a virtual tour of their campus and it was beautiful, the buildings and the outdoors of course. Also they have an amazing aviation program to help me become a pilot and students of 2018 that attend this program say that the teacher take the time to help you if you need it.
Georgia demanded the total region spreading west from the Chattahoochee to the Mississippi River and tried to sell lands there before 1798. For its organization Georgia finally terminated the disputed area in 1802 for the United States national Government. After the Louisiana Purchase in 1804, the government assigned the northern part of this cession to Mississippi Territory. Then later the southern became Louisiana Territory. The Mississippi Territory agonized initially from several difficulties that troubled its growth. In 1975 Pinckney’s Treaty of 1795 terminated Spanish control of Mississippi, then Spain continued to hinder the territory’s growth by distressing commercial traders. American trading and travel on the Mississippi River down
many different ports for trading. This also helped the United States Navy, with all these
There are many different types of natural resources in Louisiana. Today I will talk about one of the natural resources. Oil is a natural resource because it occurs naturally in nature. Oil isn’t man made. It is made from the long decay of the carbon and oxygen atoms in plants and animals. It is also stored solar power. This is because of the sunlight used at the time animals and plants lived and it uses the sun’s energy.
During my senior year of high school, I was not financially stable enough to depart from my hometown and my family. Therefore I enrolled in John Tyler Community College because I felt that it possessed the ability to help me progress academically while allowing me to remain close to my family members. However, I found that John Tyler’s real estate program is not stimulating enough, and I wish to challenge myself further by transferring to VCU. John Tyler Community College offers a real estate career studies certificate, but I do not believe it would enable me to reach my full potential as a bachelor's degree from VCU could. To pursue my goal of attending VCU, and to prepare myself for more rigorous curriculum, I began to enroll in courses transferable
Oberlin attracts me as a institution because of the role of leadership it takes within the country historically. As the world becomes more interconnected with new technologies, as a nation, I believe we face a new issue of how to react to events that happen to our neighbors and kin around the globe. Though Oberlin College does maintain some "traditional American values", the school also steps ahead compared to most other colleges when it comes to the institution's mission and goal. Therefore, seeing Oberlin's progressive visions that have bettered countless communities, I am thrilled to become a part of the student body that enlightens a new, interconnected generation of world citizens. Another aspect of Oberlin College that excites me is the
Every step of my life is a lesson to me. My early childhood was a typical middle class environment in the 1990's. Since I was ten, I had always aspired to be a social worker in my life. When I was nineteen years old, I confirmed nursing as my future profession.
I come from a family where college was not always the right answer. My father is black and my mother is Panamanian. I went to PWI in Texas and I never got to see black excellence. When I had gotten pregnant and married my eyes were opened up and I completely changed. I wanted my daughter she belongs to a people of achievements and success, and although her mother is mixed that I am proud of my history and is grateful and completely honor my ancestors for their sufferings. I wanted to finally belong and that is why I chose to go to my HBCU. My future goals will be assisted by attending Fayetteville State University by getting my feet wet and receiving my bachelor’s at an accredited university. I will be able to diversify the field of medicine
Life can be unpredictable at times, you never know where your next journey will lead you. From attending two universities, to changing majors three times. To finally, realizing where and what you want to do with your life. Figuring out life choices can sometimes be a struggle. I really did not even think about coming to Fort Valley State University. As a transfer student I had to be careful with choosing schools to transfer to. Making sure I would not lose credits and put myself behind more. My first choice was Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, but they didn’t accept all my credits. So, Fort Valley State University was my last resort. I chose Fort Valley State University, to follow my passion for agriculture.
It would be an honor to attend this university in light of both of my parents attending during their lives. My mother graduated as a nursing student, while my father attended and completed medical school. My father loved this establishment so much that he moved back and now works for the Loyola University Medical Center.
I believe the University of North Carolina at Wilmington would be a perfect fit for me in every way. In the future I would like to become a physician and I believe that UNC Wilmington would be the best match to enable me to reach this goal. UNC Wilmington has an amazing biology department which will help me meet my prerequisites for medical school. Along with this UNC Wilmington offers a pre-health program which will help me significantly on my journey towards being a physician. UNC Wilmington is also one of the few schools that offers a neuroscience minor. I have been interested in neuroscience for a long time and would love the opportunity to study the subject in college. UNC Wilmington was also an amazing fit for me because I felt at home
Many people know of the states making up the Southern region of the United States such as Alabama, Kentucky, and Louisiana, but few appreciate the culture and climate of Dixieland. Disregarding the atrocious history of the South, the modern day region is an interesting and culturally diverse place. Many people, like some in my hometown, go their whole lives without venturing the states adjacent to their own. However, when I got the opportunity to explore past Kansas’ border states, I happily took the opportunity.
Deciding that I wanted to go to Meharry College of Medicine was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made. The opportunity to study at a HBCU renowned for producing several minority leaders, presents an opportunity that seems too good to be true. However, with that being said, I believe that the most important factor to me when I made the decision to attend Meharry is my belief that this school is not only the right fit for someone like myself, but that this is the only school that can relate to the specific experiences that I have and can therefore train me to become the best physician I know that I am capable of becoming. The message that the school stands for is one that I wholeheartedly support, and as a resident of an underserved community
Ever since my brother left off to college in 2006, from the way he described his experiences to me, I saw college as a life changing experience. With a better understanding, I still believe college to be an experience of a lifetime both socially and educationally. Although I want that experience for my undergraduate year, the main purpose of my time in college is to increase my knowledge of study in a major I love in order to soon attend a graduate school of medicine then start a career as a medical doctor.
