I believe counseling is a collaborative partnership between client and counselor. Furthermore, this collaborative partnership is built from trust and acceptance of both client and counselor. I hope in conjunction with clients to understand the issues and concerns so to help them tap into their wisdom, creativity, and strengths to meet their current challenges. I believe in a comprehensive perspective through which clients can better comprehend themselves in the framework that our thinking about events can lead to emotional and behavioral upset. Moreover, counselors are to provide a safe environment for clients to explore their challenges and identify ways to move differently in overcoming these challenges.

I made the reminders calls last week and when I spoke to the clients, they told me that they understood their appointments time but many ended up cancelling their appointments last minute. They claim that they never got a reminder call and what really frustrated me was that some of them had an 8am appointment and I had to wake up extra early to meet them at NSC, but they cancelled. I asked my supervisor if we could do reminders calls the day before, but she told me that NSC wants them to be independent and reminding them the day before will make them dependent on NSC. I honestly just want them to make their appointments or call NSC ahead of time if they are not going to make it because some of their appointments are schedule months in advance and it is hard to get. After the first two cancellations, I learned to just except it because overtime NSC will not be there to hold their hand forever and they will learn to be responsible of their own
I enrolled at Colorado Christian University so that I could pursue my calling to counsel the hurting children of this world. I thought that I would learn the history of the Bible and God’s plan for His people. I believe that the epic journey of the Israeli people is an example of God’s love, patience, and even frustration with His creation. I was excited to learn about scripture, theology, and eventually the counseling techniques that I will need in my vocation. I did not consider how important it would be to learn how to communicate and write – so that I can be an effective witness. The skills that I learned in this course will not only help me to graduate, but also save me time in assignments as I work to perfect my writing skills. Every course that I take prepares me for the journey and work ahead.
My first experience with counselling was when I was roughly 17 years old. Back then I was a part of the people who believed in the myths surrounding counselling, back then it was my last option but I can still look back and say that I took that decision on my own and I was prepared to face resistance which I did, in the form of my parents who thought that it was an option for people who had gone ‘mad’. Overcoming these resistances I finally went ahead for counselling and to my absolute disappointment, the session was useless and at times even offensive to me. The counsellor asked me my age and started telling a long list of problems I may be facing. She didn’t stop there and then asked me about my weight and any problems that I may be having
