8 ECE 525 Yiyin Wang Personal Philosophies First of all, I want to introduce myself, I?m original from China. I love kids, so I want to be a teacher. I think children are very pure than anything. I would like to share with them my experience to help them find their own way. And I believed that everything beginning from Zero, if you want to learn, you will learn a lot. Mathematic is my favorite subjects. I believed that it should connect with real world, for instance it can connect with money. And I believed that math teacher should prepare hands-on activities to help children to explore math, do not just read text book or give students theory that is not good for children to understand. Meanwhile, the teacher should hold children interested to frost children self-motivation for math. When I am students, I love learn math, which I would like to thank for my elementary math teacher, she is pretty activity. She prefer to use a lot of hands-on games to let students to explore. Which is really have huge influence on me. And when I took Dr. Pourdavood class which gave me more confidences to match up with my own believed. Students learn in different ways and at different rates. There are some ideas about way people learn that I believe are universal and which I learned and believed. Students learn best by "doing": Experiencing a cube is more potent than a teacher telling a student that a cube is a six-sided figure with squares on each side. Students need a rich supply of
Taught not as a static subject, but an interactive one. Our students should start with applicable math, using objects, angles and visual learning to reinforce the lessons. Children should be shown how math is in every part of our lives, and see real-world examples of how math affects their daily life to encourage excitement and curiosity. Math is the foundation of all of our science, teaching children how to see math in everyday life will lead to greater understanding of the world around them, and why math is important. It is currently taught as a very dry subject that has no connection to their real life outside the classroom, we need to change our approach so they see math as part of daily their
Philosophy is, "The love of wisdom" the root "Phil" means love and "soppy" is a variation of "Sophia," which is the Greek word for wisdom, said in module 1. In my opinion, philosophy is a specific style of thinking. A unique style that some may or may not agree with, a foundation that someone lives their lives by. Also, it is a way to try and understand not only the world but yourself as a human being. I've always believed that you need religion to live a good and meaningful life. I was raised in a very religious household that shaped me in what I like to think are positive ways. It gives you structure and a sense of peace of mind believing in a religion. Again, I've always believed that you need religion to live a good life until I entered high school. High school was a time where people develop their own thoughts and philosophies on life. Once I met people who never had a specific religion and had families that didn't have, or follow a specific religious and were fine shocked me. They've found meaning in their lives without having a set faith and rules to live by. A close friend of mine thinks very similar to the Classic Greek concept of Paideia, "A way of thinking about and responding to the world." is something he is very big on but in his eyes, a logical sense. Some things in my eyes only have one answer, and that is God. But, to him, the answer has to be logical and make sense through real-life worldly things. I agree with Bertrand Russell on the view, "Philosophy has
I remember my favorite teacher vividly even though I sat in her class many years ago. I have so many fond memories of her and took so much from her class. I can only dream of touching a child’s life in the way my favorite teacher touched mine. For just one student to think of me in the same way would make all the years of hard work worth the effort. I also want my students achieve many accomplishments. I want them to use and remember what they have learned in my class. I also want them to have a broad spectrum of knowledge. I want each student to do their best and go as far as they can. I want them to feel a sense of accomplishment and be proud of themselves. I want to be the teacher who is encouraging, supportive, and pushes her students to be their best.
Following receiving my M.B.A. as I began to age I began to notice that it takes me a lot more work to maintain a slender build than it had in the past. I also noticed that the portion sizes at traditional restaurants that I frequent began to get larger in spite of the fact that I was not burning the calories off any faster, actually slower. After this self-reflection, I went on a family trip and I have a cousin who has a 12-year-old daughter that is extremely overweight, be definition she would be obese. I noticed that the mother did not contain he child’s eating at all. The child ate whatever she wanted in the amount that she wanted. I then heard the mother state that she, “Hopes that she can lose weight,” but my thought was that you’re not do anything to help this cause. This led me to want to go into the field of dietetics as the nutritional care needs of people of all ages captivate me and because of the lack of knowledge and incorrect knowledge found on the internet, I want to be a person entrusted with the nutritional care needs, both clinical and non-clinical, of all the patients and guests in a facility.
Food For Thought (FFT), an organization founded in 2016, is one of my most prideful activities of completion. FFT is a local food pantry that is run by National Honor Society (NHS) members. Members pack food that feeds over twenty students and families each week. After I was elected Vice-President of NHS, I was offered the presidential position alongside another colleague to run the pantry. Working within the pantry allowed me to care for my community, gain morality and change the world. The world will change when individuals take action and I was honored to do just that through FFT.
You know that one kid you always had in class that asked the math teacher “Why are we learning this”? And the teacher's response was you will use math everyday in life. Math like other subjects are taught to prepare students for the future, and is considered crucial and important to our childrens learning.
In the field of higher education, I will welcome with open arms, accept, affirm, and celebrate all students by creating an environment that is equal and inclusive for all people regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, cultural background, religion, family structure, economic status, learning ability, linguistic ability, and/or learning style. I will create an environment that includes positive, challenging experiences that will give each individual a positive educational experience free of barriers with the knowledge that postsecondary education can enhance a student 's overall well-being, increase their chances for personal fulfillment
My measurements of success are found in each and every student I teach. One of the most rewarding experiences I have had while student teaching, was watching a child’s face light up at the pivotal moment when they grasp a new concept or master a new skill. In fact, those “aha” moments are my motivators which feed my desire to look for better ways to ensure all students experience those same “aha” moments. As an effective teacher, I am determined and dedicatef to the continual process of researching, implementing, collecting and analyzing data to ensure I am improving upon the curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment used in my classroom. Learning is a never-ending process. The better skilled I become as a teacher, the better the learning experience I can provide for my students. Therefore, the more I actively research, implement, and reflect, the greater the opportunity for giving my students the education they deserve and hopefully, the inspiration to pursue their own lifelong love of learning.
I know that children learn in many different ways. Observing, experimenting, reading, and listening are a few of those many ways. I have learned that people learn best when the information is something that they are interested in. I am going to strive to make every lesson fun, and applicable to my students. I favor using many methods to teach, including lecturing, cooperative learning, project based instruction, and “hands-on” activities. I want the classroom to be a place that the students enjoy, not a boring place. I believe that every child has an innate hunger for learning and becoming successful. If I can harness their craving and aim it in the right direction, I believe I will be successful in helping these students achieve what they are looking for in life.
Even in my childhood I had always believed everyone is in complete control of what they can do and how far we can reach. I know that having this belief will get me places and I won’t let small or big problems life throws at me stop me. I'm 17 years old but I have seen the unimaginable and witnessed the unexplainable that many would simply not believe and able to understand. I’ve been in positions where I believe not many students would have an answer to act on but I had to take immediate action. In this society many believe just because you're an adolescent you don't know what this world is really about. I learned that you will be judged either way so you must do as you please.I also believe anyone can set their own destiny and change does
While being in a classroom and being able to observe without having to worry about my work, I learned how hard the teacher works to help the students. How hard it is to make
My personal values act as a basis for determining right and wrong in my daily life. My life, my parents, my husband and my children have all played valuable roles in the development of my core values. The following is an ever changing personal ethics creed, that I plan on using to help guide me in my endeavors.
As a small child, I dreamt of healing others. I carried around a toy doctor’s kit everywhere I went and would treat all of my stuffed animals with various cuts or “boo boos”. However, this dream I had continued to stay with me as I grew older, but the complexity of my dream began to change. I still had the mentality of wanting to heal others, but the reasons behind it began to develop and this can be shown through my personal philosophy. Defining my personal philosophy begins with incorporating my professional philosophy. I believe that my personal and professional philosophy is congruent in that I value the integrity of relationships, personal honesty, and truth when it comes to not only performing in the medical practice but in everyday interactions. In the medical practice, I believe that a solid foundation is built on forming quality relationships with the patients. This is why I believe in personal honesty and truth. In order to display these qualities in the relationship with the patient, it starts by having to deeply instill these qualities in myself. I believe that in order to fully understand a patient, I need to develop this empathetic and understanding relationship. It allows both parties to open up and see the true meaning behind their distress.
My whole life I have wanted to teach. Ever since watching my kindergarten teacher write on the chalk board, create fun activities, and grade papers I knew I wanted to teach. My motives have changed since that time in my life. I want to teach because it brings me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when I know I am helping another person grow intellectually and as a person. Whether it 's inside or outside of the classroom, I will try my best to help my students succeed.
My personal mission is to constantly strive to be the best overall person that I can be within my personal and professional life. My goals are to inspire and help others and myself around me to achieve greatness and a balance that will maximize our potential that will transcend the boundaries of our dreams.
