A Rhetorical Analysis of Steve Jobs Commencement Speech for Stanford University's Graduating Class of 2005: Jobs titled his speech "You've got to find what you love." Steve Jobs is best known as an American entrepreneur, inventor and industrial designer. He was the cofounder, chairman and CEO of Apple Inc. and founder, CEO and chairman of Pixar Animation Studios. Jobs and cofounder of Apple Inc. Steve Wozniak are wildly recognized as pioneers of the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s and 1980s.

Years ago, when my mom was in college, her car broke down in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the dark of night. She was in the middle of transferring her belongings back to school. A man in a car came to a stop and asked her if she needed assistance. In a moment of desperation, she accepted his help. Luckily, she did not get kidnapped or anything petrifying like that. Hearing her story now, I try to put myself in her shoes and figure out what I would do in that situation. With the technology I have at my fingertips, I would call my parents and some kind of car facility, use my maps app to locate where I am, and use my flashlight on my phone to check and see if I can fix the problem with my car. On February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California, Steven Paul Jobs was born. More commonly known as Steve Jobs, he was the subject of adoption. His birth mother was not married and was forced to let her child go to Paul and Clara Jobs. They later adopted another child (Patty Jobs) that would become Steve’s younger sister. From an early age, Steve loved working with machines and technology. During Jobs’ junior year in high school, he met Steve “Woz” Wozniak, who was almost 5 years older than Jobs. I hope I am not the only one but when I was younger, people tended to lecture me on life and I would to just listen and then push it aside. Then again I’m only a teen, I had a lot more time to start thinking about my future and just about life in general. As I got older, I realized that I really should take some of these lessons to heart, because these people were very experienced in life and there words would end up benefiting me. Now that I look back I actually should have listened to those people when I was younger considering how problematic I am today. Though I’ve been through a lot, everything I’ve been through has gotten me to be successful personally.

Jobs was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs, and they lived in an area of California called Silicon Valley. Growing up, Steve and his father would work on electronics in their family garage. They also adopted his sister patricia in 1957. While after some time of seeing his father build several work benches and various other things jobs began to take a liking into building things. Shedding light on the fact that although Steve Jobs was adopted, he was the son of a Syrian immigrant. Immigrants have too often been associated with misuse of America’s resources, jobs, etc. Steve Jobs is a great example of a success story of a product of an immigrant. If Steve Jobs father hadn’t fled his country, and came to the U.S America wouldn’t have known one of its most popular brands today, Apple.
