In The Wild Have you ever woke up extremely early to go do something exciting and new? On October second at four in the morning I was getting ready to start my day. Even though this was new to me, I was ready for the challenge. Although I had never hunted before, the moment I stepped foot in the woods, I felt at home. When I had woken up on that cold, crisp morning I smelled what I smell every morning, fresh brewed coffee, and hot biscuits. Every morning my mom wakes up and makes breakfast for everyone. The breakfast always includes coffee with biscuits and gravy, and today I knew I was going to need both. At five I was ready to pick my brother and head to Sunday Creek Wildlife Area. My brother was not a very happy person in the morning. The last fourteen years of my life I spend almost every weekend with him in a car headed to a wrestling tournament of some kind. Whether it be club wrestling or school, we were always together, so I knew not to talk to him in the morning until he had his morning coffee. Cody and I were on our way to the Wildlife Area when we came across a older man with a flat tire, since we had time to spare due to the sun not coming up until seven thirty we helped him and were back on the road. The moment my brother and I got there we had seen three squirrels huddled on a tree branch eating some type of food. We decided to let those ones be since they were so young at the time. Cody decided that he wanted to split up to give us the best chances
In 1990 at the age of 22, Chris McCandless started his journey to travel the country and live off the land alone. He survived well until he hitchhiked to Alaska in 1992. Chris thought that if he could make it there, he could make it anywhere. Four months after going off the grid in the Alaskan wilderness, his decomposed body was discovered by a party of hunters. The nonfiction novel, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, is his story. It has many important themes that define the life of Chris McCandless. A couple themes, for example, are having the feeling of ultimate freedom and seeking happiness through a personal challenge.
Jon Krakauer wrote an extraordinary book entitled Into the Wild, which was adapted for film by Sean Penn. The book and film features the journey of Christopher McCandless, the son of wealthy parents who graduates from Emory University as a top student and athlete. However, instead of embarking on a prestigious and profitable career, he chooses to give his savings to charity, rid himself of his belongings, and set out on a journey into the Alaskan wilderness where he meets his untimely death. Some people would say that Christopher McCandless' decision to go on his way to Alaska was plain stupidity and would consider it as an act of idiocy. I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his romantic silliness. He made a lot of mistakes based on arrogance. I don't admire him at all for his courage nor his noble ideas. Really, I think he was just plain crazy.Krakauer, J. 1997). Although, others would say that it was a decision based purely on curiosity and self worth, as his journey would also be considered as wise. Chris McCandless’ journey was necessary.
The Call of the Wild, on the surface, is a story about Buck, a four- year old dog that is part Shepherd and part St. Bernard. More importantly, it is a naturalistic tale about the survival of the fittest in nature. Throughout the novel, Buck proves that he is fit and can endure the law of the club, the law of the fang, and the laws of nature.
The Call of the Wild, by Jack London, is a classic piece of American literature. The novel follows the life of a dog named Buck as his world changes and in turn forces him to become an entirely new dog. Cruel circumstances require Buck to lose his carefree attitude and somewhat peaceful outlook on life. Love then enters his life and causes him to see life through new eyes. In the end, however, he must choose between the master he loves or the wildness he belongs in.
Into the Wild is a book about a young man named Chris McCandless and his decision to go off and live in the wild. He decided to walk deep into the Alaskan wilderness and abandon all of his possessions and family. This book is the authors, Jon Krakauer, version of Chris McCandless’ story put together through interviewing and speaking with people who knew Chris as well as by using letters Chris wrote to his loved ones.
An outstanding young man, helped the poor, in high school participated in cross-country, intelligent. He was healthy, he sang and performed instruments. Moreover, all that was mentioned, for Christopher, wasn’t enough. He had still a need; a necessity that required discovering in a way outside the commonplace, the wonders, mysteries and obstacles that nature has with it. Thus one day, Christopher McCandless, a newly graduated college student without preambles got rid of his belongings and money in bank accounts. Without giving even a note of warning to his parents and friends, he simply disappeared from society and no one knew what happened to him. It took a lot of courage, to be willing to leave
People often wonder why we do what we do. People are different from each other, kind of like snowflakes. They make different choices and do different things. One explanation of this could be because of our parents. Even though not all people agree, our parents impact our choices.
I sit and wait. The lonely call of a great horned owl breaks the silence of the early morning. A few minutes later I hear the calls of a wolf to the north. I know there will be more howls and within two minutes other wolves start calling. They are talking to each other, telling their pack where they are and if they have found any food. As it get lighter and lighter I wait for the first gun-shots of the season, and sure enough, POW. The season has begun.
The novel Into the Wild is a nonfiction novel published by Jon Krakauer who investigated the life and death of a free spirited individual named Christopher McCandless. McCandless was a recent Emory University graduate who sought to suck the marrow out of life through an independent experience in nature and purposely sought to this experience in the rawest form of supplies. He was found dead in August of 1992 in an abandoned bus in the Alaskan wilderness. For the sake of his journey, he purposely didn't bring an adequate amount of food or supplies. Consequently, those who read of his actions wonder what evoked him to live the way he
Into the Wild a story that gave a life event and a deranged experience. I personally believe no one would want to experience what Mcandless went through ever. Unless of course they like to be lonely like sir and have " freedom." like McCandless himself. Even then I would still think people out in this world would not want to live what he went through, So frightened to know you prefer being alone with no ones help. To come to think that freedom does exist and you'll have it one day but, will you really?
As humans, we are compelled to take risks, even when the privilege is unavailable. Without a proper role model in life, for example parents, being inept, we go out in daily life and venture, and with venturing risks are involved. This is what Zlatan Ibrahimović a world-famous soccer player, and Chris McCandless, the main character of Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer went through in life, a proper role model was not present. The men in riding giants a documentary by Stacy Peralta, like Greg Noll, just left everything behind back at home to experiment with their lives by surfing. Nobody stopped any of them from going, because nobody cared enough. Getting out there every day in the water was a risk of losing their lives. Zlatan, Chris, and Greg
When I was younger, I remember this space in between my back yard and these appartments that was filled with trees; it was almost like my own personal forest. I would escape there and spend hours chasing stray cats and making pine cone soup until my mother called me in for dinner. I remember how I wish that I could have this freedom forever and how I was going to run away from everything and live in the wild when I got older. A lot of people can relate to wanting to get away from it all and live just for yourself, but most , like me, ether grew out of it or just keep this image for a stressful day when you want to relax with no plans on ever completing this fantasy. Unlike the rest of us there are the few who actually make this this a reality like Christopher Johnson McCandless who died in the Alaskan wild after pursuing this
Into the Wild is thought of as a man going into the wild for exploration when he goes to be alone, find himself, and being one with nature. Psychiatrists believe this is good for the creative minds but whether he had this in mind when deciding to just run off to alaska to get away from things or to actually benefit himself. A famous quote from the story is ¨happiness is only real, when shared¨ so we learn that abandoning everything and going to the wilderness is not very realistic. This story is an epic description of wilderness vs civilization. When looking at what Chris McCandless chose to do you wonder why he chose to go Alaska by himself.
Ever wish someone would hand you a road map for your life? Ideally, a map that did not need an Einstein to help fold it back up! The amount of money I would pay for someone to hand me a map of my life and say, "ok, Ali, turn right in three days and then hang a left and that will take you to your next destination..."
Throughout our lives, we experience different situations, some that can be positive or negative, but consequently help build who we are. Sometimes it's harder for others to find themselves, which leads them to go out of their comfort zone and discover new things that will truly make them happy, this is reflected on the life of Christopher McCandless in the film Into the Wild, directed by Sean Penn and the book written by Jon Krakauer. As Chris McCandless way of finding himself, he embarked on a journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Jon Krakauer refers to Chris McCandless as being some sort of pilgrim and I agree with his statement because Chris was rebellious, ambitious and an intelligent person.
