Personal Statement Everyone has something that drives them to succeed every day. Some people feel a need to compete with others around them while others feel they need to make their families proud. For me there are two major factors that encourages me to try my best. One is to show my parents that everything they have done for me has not been a waste and the other is my curiosity.
What Do I Hope to Accomplish by Going to Mercer? When I first came to Mercer I really wanted to become a pediatric oncologist or a general practitioner. I changed my mind a couple times during my pre-college and freshman year on whether or not I wanted to be a different kind of doctor. However, I never really thought I would end up undeclared in my sophomore year. My whole high school life was spent navigating the medical pathway and joining clubs like HOSA (Healthcare Occupation Students of America). I even did well in these classes and clubs, winning honors at the state and national level for EMT and Kaiser Permanente testing. During my sophomore year, things changed because I dropped chemistry after having an uninspiring teacher and after
Rutgers University would dramatically help me achieve my personal and educational goals. I am currently a sophomore at Gloucester County College with a dream of starting my own business. I will be the first in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Receiving a degree would be a huge milestone in my family and I would be setting a good example to the rest of my family. I originally applied to Rutgers when I was a senior in high school and I was ecstatic about my acceptance, but I had a personal issue that ultimately changed my plan for college. Unfortunately, I had no idea Rutgers had online degrees, so I turned to community colleges that offered online degrees as a quick solution in order to still attend college that fall. I am planning
My goals at Appalachian State University are to gain education needed to become a superior leader and gain knowledge about other communities and groups of people. While at Appalachian State, I plan on pursuing a degree in Management with hopes of becoming a community leader in the future. Management will help me meet new people and explore how others think outside of Randolph County. It is essential to broaden your horizons and develop interpersonal skills to become successful in the future. I feel like a University such as Appalachian State is an exemplary institution for learning about management, the way others ruminate, and meeting new peers and sharing ideas. Appalachian’s diverse community will prepare me for a career in management and success in the future by enabling me to express my ideas and learn about others as well.
When going into the 5th grade, I would drive by kipp every single day. Every time I would drive by, I would constantly tell my mom that I wanted to attend kipp my 5th grade year. When I got accepted into kipp, I was so excited. At the age of 10, I was being introduced to college. My very first homeroom was Brown University. Kipp pushed students to want to attend college to better their futures. I stayed in kipp from 5th-12th grade. Those years in kipp, we went on plenty of college tours so that the students could get a feeling of how college is. In high school when preparing for college, kipp offered so much help when it came down to ACT prep and also preparing for college interviews. Kipp offers plenty of support, they want to see their students shine. For instance, in my 12th
A degree from Flemming Center’s Healthcare Management program will provide me with the knowledge to apply management problem-solving skills to improve health systems and influence health management and policy decisions. The diverse faculty background in management and policy will enhance my educational experience by providing me with the resources needed to succeed in this field. I am particularly interested in working with Dr. Aday. Being the first in my family to graduate from college and pursue higher education, I would enjoy speaking to her about her experiences with this as well as her success in being a leader in healthcare. In addition, Flemming Center offers a variety of resources to prepare its students for life after graduate school. For example, all
To be honest, I am not really sure what profession I want to pursue after college. I would actually like to try many different things in hopes of finding a career that matters to me personally and that is why I am drawn to the idea of a liberal arts education. I am drawn to the schools peaceful surrounding community and its motivation to instill a sense of civic duty. When I visited Bates over the summer I was intrigued by the campus and the students that were still there. The serene nature of Maine was another one of the factors that interested me. I was in awe at how tightly connected the alumni was to the school and how all of the students were treated the same. The idea that no one will slip through the cracks and that the teachers and

UC Personal Statement The significant academic challenge I have faced, is my learning disability. in all my life I have this challenge, and I can’t run from these struggles. The struggles are from reading to math, and from math going into memory issues that I have to struggle with all my life.
Marcus Evans Anonymous September 9, 2017 My Plans After College After graduating from the Xavier University of Louisiana with my master in computer science I plan on spending my first year working as Google instructor at a university preferably in Chicago. After I have completed the year needed for being a google resident instructor, I would slowly start making my way into the IT world where I could work at the Google headquarters in California or Sony and from there start moving up Silicon Valley to become a very good programmer and start developing applications. After my second or third year in California, I plan to get a house and get into a serious relationship to where I can start a family of my own. While in California I will push towards
In life, we have to make everyday decisions. Some of the decisions are harder to make. For example, as college students, we struggle to decide what major to study. As we are growing up we discover more and more things that we like to do. When I was a child, I remember the sweet words of my elementary teacher, Ms. Amy, “Karen, as you go through different life stages, you will discover different interests in your life”. Now that I am an adult, I agree with her because every day in my life, I experience something new and worth it. Not starting college right after high school gave me the opportunity to discover a career that I never thought about it. I always thought that I will enjoy being an accountant because my favorite subject is math, but after working in a job that exposes me to that field I discover that I did not want to do that for the rest of my life. However, when I started working in a field that I found uninteresting, it helped me to discover my passion for technology. This became an important element in selecting information technology as my career.
Three years ago, my father would have been all of the inspiration I needed to keep myself motivated inside and outside of school. He was one of the few people who always believed in me and surprisingly enough, even though I hardly ever had contact with him because he was always in and out of jail, he seemed to know me more than most of the people that surrounded myself with.
Machines clank and rumble. The whirring of the assembly line drowns out the other noise in the large room. however , this production plant is different than any normal one because on this assembly line lies the ideas and inventions of my own creation. I want to be successful in college, develop my ideas, reach graduate school, and continue to excel later in life. However with three kids(a pair of twins and the other who has a chronic illness) that will eventually be in college simultaneously, financial inability to be in the right spot could be a limiting factors to reach these goals. I want to shoot high and reach even higher, and I don’t want the lack of ability to pay to be the barrier to my aspirations.
Long term goal In ten years I see myself playing football or basketball because I love to play sports. I know I will never give up on sports because i would love a job that is one of my most favorite things ever. You know everyone in the world
Everyone around me knows that I am absolutely obsessed with finding a job in my field of study. I always felt I was an average person. I had good grades, my family is middle class, and I believed that hard work and “buckling my boot straps” would pay off. Boy, was I wrong. I graduated as a Bio-medical Engineer. I believed it didn’t matter what school I went to because my major is respected. I didn’t expect for it to only be respected and not get me a job opportunity. I pressured myself for four years taking 16-18 units in order to graduate in a timely manner. Finally, when I got out the other end I found myself thrust into the world. The world that preached “we need more diversity in engineering”, and “we are always looking to hire women of
