Personal Statement : You 're Honor

I am honor to be a part of National Honor Society, I believe that I contributed to my community by helping other and being kind. I am very focused and hardworking individual because I know that I worked my way up top in very little time. I am very happy to get opportunity to be a member of NHS society, that means that I have fulfill all the qualities such as character, service and scholarship, as well as leadership. I am very excited to be a member because it will help me as a person to grow as a individual, I am looking forward to that.

With given a choice of what to write this paper, I could not get past the subtle nature of who we are as God’s creations. This fundamental truth of our identity is simplified with the truth of our identity in Jesus. We are created in God’s image with a purpose here on earth to display all of God’s greatness, His beauty, and to reveal all of His character aspects. Best of all, we are completely dependent on God. This new enlightenment of my identity in Christ as God’s creation will allow me to help people around the world become one with Christ by revealing the truth of their identity.

Pursing a career as a medical doctor is an opportunity for me to mentor youth in underserved populations. As a child, I was raised in the low income, urban community of Roxbury, MA. Although not as notorious today, the neighborhood had garnered negative attention for its high crime rates. My mother emigrated from Haiti and raised me as a single parent. Due to our financial circumstance, Roxbury became our permanent residence. I have always felt there was something lacking in Roxbury in comparison to other towns I visited. My teenage years were largely spent in the suburban town of Stoneham where I attended high school. There was a literal difference in air quality and a psychology contrast in future prospects. It is an honor to be chosen as a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society. Academics, leadership skills, service abilities, and character are four principal parts of a superior student. I believe that I am inclusive of all these aspects needed to become a part of this prestigious group. Becoming a member of this organization is important to me, because it will help me get into an excellent college and push me to work harder in school.

As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.

My Mission to Better the Community I am honored to be among the top students with an opportunity to be involved in National Honor Society. This shows that I have achieved my goal of demonstrating my determination and willingness to give back to the community. I believe I represent a distinguished character with academic initiative, leadership qualities, and I am a superior representative of Southeast Polk High School. I feel my eagerness to do well in life helps prove my exemplary character.

I, Deborah Destahun, believe I would be a good fit in National Honor Society because I already uphold to NHS standards; I am: a leader, a volunteer and a dedicated person. I am committed and will show up on time in an orderly manner.

I am genuinely honored to be one of the few students considered for acceptance to the State College Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that my hard work and dedication in academics is beginning to show through. Throughout my life, I have shown drive and devotion for everything in which I have been involved, ranging from athletics to academics. My mentality has always been focused on helping others. For this reason, I aspire to become an orthopedic surgeon so that my career will evolve around helping others to get the most out of their lives. I am pleased and honored to have the opportunity to forego with the process of becoming a National Honor Society member. The National Honor Society’s main goal is be involved and to better the community in various ways. For example, the organization works to serve the community, tutor students, and be leaders within the school. The members put their self interests aside and work to better the lives of everyday people in their community. I believe I am ready to join and help with the endless opportunities that the National Honor Society has to offer. Becoming a member of NHS has been a goal of mine since I entered the halls of Brick Township High School. I fully understand that it takes hard work and dedication in order to become a member but I know that I greatly exhibit those traits not only in school but also in my outside activities. This is a rare opportunity that can only happen in high school and I know that I am ready to be apart of something special.

I feel greatly honored to be considered to be a part of National Honor Society. Being a part of NHS will help me grow as a leader and as an overall person. As H. Jackson Brown Jr. once said “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today”. I try to live by this quote by doing everything in my power to shape my future to be successful, and joyous. This mean getting involved in my community, staying active, joining a handful of clubs, and striving for high academic achievements.

It is my understanding that you are the lead prosecutor in People v. Adrianna Cascaddan, a case pending in Williamson County District Court. I am writing this letter in support of Adrianna, who is my daughter. I respectfully request that you consider reducing the charges, or even dismissing them. Adrianna is a wonderful, very well mannered, young lady who has learned from her mistake and shows every indication of being a productive and contributing member of our community and society.

Love. The feeling of affection towards someone or something. In my life, I have loved many things but my love for learning and exploring the unknown has remained unparalleled. TCNJ’s Honors Program will allow me to further foster this love of mine and expand it to even greater horizons.

In our lives, we have to make important choices, and sometimes our choices determine our happiness or sadness. As a Filipino, our families tell us to do well in school and to not make bad choices because they want us to be successful and to have ethical morals. Growing up as a Catholic, I was taught to be obedient and respectful to my family which has shaped who I am today. Yet, I too made some mistakes, and I learned from the consequences. From my failures, I learned to not belittle myself, but to grow.
