Personality – the ability to speak to people on a visceral level – is what makes someone special. When people think about creativity, words such as originality come to mind. Because creativity ultimately is the capability to outperform the past and its accomplishments, there is nothing more original than someone's own personal existence, thought, and history. In my own life, I wrote a one act play titled The Usual Tension that dealt with the conflict within ourselves between our self-confidence and apprehension. The play was based off a personal experience involving myself and a girl who I had a relationship with throughout my sophomore year of high school. To look at creativity at a much more broader scale, Kanye West's album My Beautiful …show more content…
In my own one act play, The Usual Tension, I use my own personal experiences involving my friend from high school to create a story that explains a common conflict within ourselves. The play centers around a high school actor named George who is about to audition for a play. While he waits for his audition to begin, he sees Eileen, who he happens to be interested in, waiting as well. However, he knows that there is a battle between his arrogance and his anxiety that has been preventing him from asking Eileen out on a date. He says that it's “the tension that grabs us by the horns and pushes us down or throws us up. It may be dormant at times, but it’s always there, tilting the scales” (6). The play explores tension through two characters named Arrogance and Anxiety, who both serve as George's conflicting emotions. Throughout the play, the audience watches Arrogance and Anxiety argue against one another about how George should ask Eileen out on a date. Eventually, George realizes that he needs to set his emotions aside and just ask her out. The play comes from a personal experience involving a girl who I had a huge crush on. We were both great friends as we did the school plays and an audition choir together. …show more content…
The album is a response to many of Kanye's controversial actions from the past that have made him such a confusing personality. Songs such as “Power” and “All of the Lights” relish and praise the spotlight that his career has created. On the contrary, he makes songs that talk about the negatives that have come being famous such as “Runaway” and “Blame Game.” From romance to materialism, Kanye talks about how drastically his life has changed from his growing up in Chicago. Kanye has always been an artist that draws from his personal life; however, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy takes that to a whole new level. In between his release of 808's and Heartbreak and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye's life was tumultuous to say the least. He interrupted Taylor Swift on stage; nude photos of him leaked onto the internet; he had a public relationship with the celebrity Amber Rose. The chances were that most Americans who were interested in celebrity lifestyles had an opinion on Kanye and his actions. The album talks about both his actions and how he feels about the responses to those actions. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is an honest album, which most people can respect because it reminds the audience that celebrities are actual people as well and have emotional reactions to the publicity and attention. My
The use of the dramatic element of tension is most evident when Lewis and Nick have a disagreement about the play and the mental patients. Nick’s attitude towards Lewis’ fellow actors enrages him revealing that he deeply cares for them and considers them friends. The dramatic action revealed in the stage directions would impact the audience because Nick is suppose to be Lewis’s Best friend but he betrays him. It is shocking to see men who were once friends, now fighting in such a short period of time over one silly
Throughout Kanye West’s prolific career, he has possessed an intricate sound that has separated him from his hip-hop counterparts. After the immense praise he received on his breakout album, College Dropout, it was no surprise that Kanye West would perform at the same level on his second album, Late Registration. West presented an innovative and soulful sound to the hip-hop industry, earning individuals’ ears and hearts. With lyrics that discussed themes of poverty, drug abuse, and domestic issues and samples that provided a sense of nostalgia, Kanye West was steadily transforming into a political icon far beyond the means of his hip-hop artistry. With such empowering and sincere lyrics, Kanye West served as the voice of historically marginalized people, whose voices were seemingly unheard before. In the song “Drive Slow,” West’s guidance and empowering message remained evident, as he joined forces with GLC and Paul Wall to create a soulful song that offered assistance on how to overcome barriers in life. Through the use of suggestive details, figurative language, and vivid storytelling, West utilizes the automobile culture to assert how individuals can achieve success of every field of human endeavor through constant efforts in the right direction. In addition, he also attempts to convey that one must “drive slow” in a car in order to appreciate the environment that consists outside of the automobile. West creates a double entendre of the word “drive slow,” expressing that
It is clear that Kanye's music has changed, his lyrics have turned in another direction. His first albums would show how he became the person he was at that time, the struggle he suffered. Now his music do not make the same emphasis, it is more obscene in which he raps about drugs and that he compares him self to god. Also in one of his newest music video named Famous, Kanye shows a scene in which political figures as elected president Donald Trump appears naked along with George W. Bush. Up today the equilibrium of Kanye's mind it is unstable due to the actions he has committed this past years (Vevo 2016).
Throughout Kanye West’s prolific career, he has always possesses a intricate sound that has separated him from his hip-hop counterparts during the early twenty first century. I have always struggled with my creativity aspect. I do not have much of an imaginative personality, so I grapple a little more with writing papers that with people that have raging imaginative personalities. Having a creative paper is important for the reader to get intrigued to what the writer is saying. Like in my first paper we had to write, the memoir, I had to use personification to describe a car accident I was in. I had a lot of trouble with this, due to my lack of creativity in my writing. However, with a lot of effort, I was able to succeed in writing my memoir using personification.
Kanye had an intellectually challenging upbringing and was raised in a middle-class home. He was the only child of an English literature professor mother, and his father who was an award-winning photojournalist and an active Black Panther member. Before Kanye’s superstar days, he was just an ordinary kid from Chicago, Illinois striving to become a successful artist. He was attending the Chicago State University and was taking art classes at the American Academy of Art but decided to drop out to place all of his attention on his career in music. Kanye’s journey in music began by producing songs for local rap artists. Kanye obtained his first big break in 2001, producing songs for Jay-Z’s double-platinum selling album The Blueprint. In the early
Kanye West has proven himself over time that he is much more than just a producer. With each new album he releases, he constantly pushes the boundaries of music influencing artist across all genres. Kanye has an ever evolving sound that changes almost year to year. Kanye West’s Yeezus album is an album that takes a much darker and more minimalist turn in his discography. This approach to music makes Yeezus a much harder album to listen through because it is not filled with nice, polished sounds. Having the album made this way makes us look over what the message of a song and the album are. Among many rough songs one the most popular on the album was Blood on the Leaves. Blood on the Leaves samples from another song called Strange Fruit sung by Nina Simone which is a very political song talking about gruesome lynchings that happened before and at the turn of the century. With help from the sample, West uses the pain of lynching and drug abuse to compare with the break ups he goes through.
“Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you…I’ll let you finish. But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” (West). Most people if they don’t know anything about Kanye West, they know this quote. When anybody hears his name everybody always has an opinion. Some people love him, while a lot of other people hate him, each for a variety of reasons. Though most people only see the arrogant and egotistic side of Kanye, the more important side that people don’t always see is the hardworking musician. In order to fully understand Kanye’s motives and to fully appreciate him, people have to know how he got to the point he is now today.
The celebrity that I've chosen to do a personality assessment on is Kanye West. Kanye West started out his career by helping others produce music, but soon he began making music himself. His debut album, The College Dropout propelled him into stardom as a hip hop and rap artist. In recent years, Kanye's relevancy to the public has stopped being about his music and more about his personal life. West has stayed relevant to the public through a marriage to reality star, Kim Kardashian and through his many outlandish speeches and interviews.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy boasted an amazing maximalist approach that boarded on a hip hop opera symphony with lyrics that were memorable and verses that can rank as the best hip hop verses of all time. It was an album filled with legendary moments that music fans will remember for ages, and moments Kanye fan boys will yell at his concerts. This reaction by hip hop fans for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was immediate. For Yeezus, it was different. Yeezus’ minimalistic approach threw fans and critics off due to the very left field and experimental approach he took for this album, both sonically and thematically. In spite of this, Yeezus still manages to hold up it’s quality, value, and impact in comparison to his preceding albums while becoming one of the most important hip hop albums of all time.
Kanye West likely seeks reinforcement and loves attention, negative or positive from individuals he does not know, or is not familiar with because of his constant need for attention. He acts the way he does due to his thought process and erratic personality/ personality disorders.
“Power” is a song that was released in Kanye West’s 2010 album called “My Beautiful Dark Twister Fantasy.” This particular song is one of my favorite songs of all times because it gives me a combination of eustress and distress as well. The song is extremely upbeat, which often leads me to dance and smile while singing the lyrics. In addition, the first verse of this song empowers me because it states that the singer is living in the 21st century trying to live his life and impact society bigger than anyone. The hook of this song also plays a major role in why it’s song inspiring to me because it speaks about having power and one must take advantage of the time to reach success. The beat, the first verse, and the hook
With twenty-one Grammy’s and fifty-seven nominations, Kanye West is often regarded as one of the most influential and important artists of our time (The GRAMMYs 2). But many believe he is a musical fluke, who seeks attention and controversy. West first broke into the music industry by producing beats under the guidance of famous hip hop producer No I.D. (“The Mentor” 1). After his highly praised groundbreaking album, The College Dropout, was released, Kanye quickly found himself in the spotlight. His second album, Late Registration, was met also met with critical acclaim. With his recent successes and connection to the youth of America, West took an opportunity to help the people affected by Hurricane Katrina by appearing on TV alongside Michael Myers for a Red Cross event.
Kanye West also known as "Yeezy" is American rapper, fashion disaster, and also music producer. People may say that Mr. West is our youth of today voice. He has made a tremendous mark in the music and fashion industry. As we all know Mr. West is known for having his moments. It is safe to say that he has the best and top “omg” Moments, such as interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMA’s. Kanye in the begging when he first came on the hip hop scene was this calm, joyful, his music in my eyes was the most different music out at the time, just because he wasn’t rapping about what everyone else was. Kanye was one of those joyful guys, everybody wanted him on his record or produce it. Then a tragic event occurred where his mom died. After then you see
Kanye West produced the popular song “All Falls Down” in 2004. He is well known for creating many wonderful tunes but this one stands out above the rest. While his other songs contain bass-heavy instrumentals and contain lyrics about money and women, this one is strays away from the previous structures. “All Falls Down” catches the attention of youth, with its mellow melody, to send a strong message concerning the overemphasis on money and education and how it can be harmful through the lyrics. The issues contained in the message are highly focused on the idea that money and education will not always be there
