Animals have always been a part of my life. They have given me comfort and taught me lessons throughout my life. It is because of these animals that I wish to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
Riki- she was the cat that was a part of my family since before I was even born. She constantly had an unsure look in those yellow eyes; black fur slightly raised, slowly putting one white-tipped paw in front of the other. Riki taught me one of my first lessons about animals, and the world, at a very young age; respect others’ boundaries. I learned that I could only touch her on her terms (the consequences were often painful) and that when she gave a warning, I had better pay attention to it. I quickly learned how to read the slight nuances in

In return, she gives love. Her tail is always wagging for her family. Lexie has taught me the importance of unconditional love. Whenever we accidentally step on her tail, she always gives us a little wag and a kiss, as if to say, “I forgive you.” When she gets into mischief, mostly getting into the trash, I have to remember to return the easy forgiveness that she so readily gives. Lexie has given me a sisterly love that I so dearly enjoy. Her playfulness and enthusiasm exude from her wherever she goes. Because of this, she has taught me to wholeheartedly love what you’re doing to be successful. I can only hope that I will love life as much as she does and be able to spread it in the future.
Our newest dog, William, is a purebred German Shepherd. The breeder never let him out of her ranch house. He doesn’t know how to walk up and down stairs, how to ride in a care, table manners, and, most importantly, how to tell us that he needs to go to the bathroom. When we got him, he was terrified of the new world around him. He has taught me that the responsibility of caring for a pet mirrors the responsibility of caring for a child. I have learned to importance of patience and kindness in acclimating a dog to a new environment. He now wags his tail whenever I come home from school and gives me little snuffles with his nose after I eat. He has given me a joy in watching him mature and learn. I feel a parental love for him, and he has given me both a pride in him, and a pride
Ever since a young age, I have been a passionate animal enthusiast. I cannot image a life without a dog by my side. Animals are not just pets, or food, or part of the environment. They are intelligent creatures and deserve to be treated as such. Animals have evolved just as we have. The evolution theory even says humans evolved from primates. So why do animals not have rights? They have a brain and can learn and grow, just as we can. It can also be argued that animals have a soul. I believe animals not only have dignity, but they also have rights.
intelligent and talented animal, my older sister Lucy whose my role model, and John F. Kennedy
Her name was Snow White, beautiful eyes with a smile so bright, perked up ears that rose to the sky and beautiful black and white fur that made you feel safe when needed someone to talk to or even a hug. Since birth she was loyal, since birth she was faithful, but the reality of it all is that, not every owner knew how to take care of her. An animal is known to be more than a companion and our savior of the night, which is why we should understand the reality behind animal welfare, but in actuality, we don’t. But, they’re some habits to create a positive impact on animal welfare. From taking your pet to the veterinarian every six months to making sure your animal feels loved and appreciated by giving them attention, they are a lot more ways
Chloe is my relief for everything! She gives me a sense of positivity, love, and a fun vibe. If I'm having a bad day she brings joy to my face and makes me feel like it's gonna be okay. She has been a support for me since I got her. Who knew I could think of a dog as my kid, and treat her like one as well. Chloe has made me become responsible in ways I did not have to worry about before such as feeding her or bathing her. She is a responsibility to me just like a kid is to a
Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an underlying problem in today’s society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it.
For years we have been making laws to run our society! For centuries, society has seen history repeat itself in such a devastating manner, and for many more years to come, humanity will see their potential underutilized. The Behavior towards this slow advancement has got to stop! We spend over $154 or more on the agricultural business, and $132 billion on drunk driving. A nations destructive behavior can be its true enemy. The continuation not only affects the people but will ruin the planet as a whole, we must adopt another in its place.
For thousands of years, animals have served the human race, whether it be for food, clothing, companionship, or laborious tasks. However, it wasn’t until 1966 that animals in the United States gained rights recognized by the government. The Animal Welfare Act protects the rights of cats, dogs, livestock, and various mammals from inhumane treatment and regulates their transportation, sale, and handling. To animal rights activists, this vague piece of legislation is simply not adequate. Animals such as birds and rodents are not even mentioned, and many of the animals that are supposed to be protected by this law are still the victims of cruel experimentation and exploited by inhumane factories. Vigorous action has been taken by groups commonly identified as terrorists, such as the Animal Liberation Front, but with no long-term effects such as improvements made on existing laws. They argue that sentient beings--animals capable of emotions--should be protected by the same legislation that governs humans. It is vital that new laws are created and enforced in order to end the cruel and inhumane treatment of animals in the United States.
She has been abused in every type of way, and kidnapped multiple times. She had nobody to turn to because her family was responsible for most of the events she suffered through. I consider her the strongest person I know for surviving her childhood. Anytime that I am upset, she will give me at least five reasons why I have a great life. She makes me acknowledge the belongings and people I do have in my life such as clothes, food, a family that cares about me, and friends. This ensures me that I can overcome all of my problems since she was able to withstand her issues growing
Small black forms scramble when you open the doors to the barn scattering into holes in the walls to escape the harsh light they are unaccustomed to. If you get the chance to see one its small beady red eyes glare up at you and its sharp yellow teeth scream filth. Disease is a common notation when used with them. They’ve even become the face of a worldwide epidemic back in the Middle ages. Rats. Disgusting, evil, mean, and dirty little beings that make messes and are too stupid to escape the trap of a life of fear.
Animal testing has been one of the issues that people are fighting overtime because of its moral. Even though some results of tests are successful on people, many people are still fighting for the animal’s rights. They believe that animals should have their own rights to live a free life where they belong, just like their species. In scientists point of view, animals have been one of the main subjects to test on, but a lot of them are currently looking forward to use and develop alternatives for the cruel act of animal testing.
The deeper I dig into animal abuse , the more I want to become a vegetarian. But it is not easy as it seems. The things that I have seen and read makes me sick to my stomach. To watch a hopeless cow, get whipped , is sickening. Watching baby Chicklets die in a big machine , brings tears to my eyes. Millions of animals every day die cruel deaths , and I no longer want to be an accomplice to the crimes. While it may be hard to retrain myself , I should and intend to just stop eating meat.
Even though she is only a dog she teaches me many lessons. She has taught me how to be responsible by needing exercise, food, and water. Some people would see this as a burden, but her and I have made loads of memories on walks, runs, and bike rides. Once, on a nice sunny day, her and I went to my Grammy’s pond and raced around the tons of blueberry bushes, the wind blasting against our faces, making her cheek fur smoothed
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” The social issue of animal rights first arose in the 1970s; since then the animal rights movement has gained momentum and a considerable amount of followers “Animal Rights.” Organizations like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) hold demonstrations and protests in the streets and outside businesses to denounce the maltreatment of animals. There are two sides on this issue, those who believe that the life of an animal is inferior to that of a human’s and those who deem that animals deserve to have a life free of human interruption “What Are Animal Rights.” Without animal rights, our society can be deemed unfettered by empathy and restrained by immoral values.
Animal rights is a very complicated issue. It’s not fair that they get tortured in a very inhumane way. Believe it or not that animals feel pain just like humans because we’re just a different species of animals. “Human demand for meat has led to a quicker production for demand, which means the meat industry production line doesn’t stop for anything, especially sick, disabled and not effectively stunned animals.” (Animal Rights) There are many cases of animals being mistreated and countless videos of them being tortured, getting kicked also bleeding to death. “Animals that are not stunned correctly are still butchered even when they are still conscious.” (Animal Rights) When eating meat, you’re “kidneys work 3x times hard than the kidneys of a vegetarian. There are some cases of retailers rejecting the meat because of the condition when delivered.” (Animal Rights)
Growing up, I always asked myself, should I become a veterinarian? My family owned several of pets - especially only cats and dogs. I wasn’t satisfied with cats and dogs. I often begged my parents to own a bunny, a hamster, a gecko, or even a horse! My parents always declined. Instead, I often went to museums and state parks visitors center just to learn about animals. I also watched television shows related to animals. I found living things fascinating. I tend to go wandering outdoors. I would search, catch frogs, and watch any critters scramble or fly by. Also, snakes and spiders even never bothered me. I would do anything to learn about animals. This made me think that I’m worthy of being a veterinarian.
