Since the early 2000’s bullying has been on the rise. Just about every school has had a bullying problem at least once. Parents are unaware and children don’t want to speak up. The rise of bullying has been caused by the upbringing of new social media sites. Physical bullying has went out the window and cyberbullying is here to stay. Making the community and schools more aware than the amount of situations would go down tremendously. Bullying is caused by numerous things but some of which are easier to suspect than others. There are two main types of cyberbullying; and most importantly, cyberbullying must be stopped before it leads to suicide among its victims.
Meanwhile bullying has become a big problem in school; approximately 71% of students say that there's a bullying problem in their school, approximately 67% of parents believe that schools respond poorly to bullying. Every day 160,000 children skip school every day in the world caused by bullying. Physical bullying increases in elementary, peaks in middle school and decreases in high school. Approximately 67% of parents believe that schools respond poorly to bullying. By the age of fourteen 30% of boys and 40% of girls talk to peers about bullying. High school is when the biggest amount of bullying problems occur 1 out of 10 students drop out due to bullying. As boys get older, they seem to forget sympathy and make the problem worse without realising what they are doing. This isn’t a joke because 29% of bullied teens harm themselves, 14% developed an eating disorder, and 12% ran away from home.(11 facts about bullying). Every year 3.2 million teens get bullied every year and 17% say they are bullied 2 to 3 times a month. Additionally can create negative long term effects if not stopped immediately. (Trent).
Furthermore teens who are most likely to commit bullying have an aggressive personality. More than likely he/she’s parents who are either separated or not involved. Teens who commonly break rules on a regular basis and do not like to listen could be strong evidence that they are involved with bullying students; bullies are most likely teens who acquire large amounts of social media and internet access.
