Education is something that most can receive for free at a young age, but once students graduate from high school, free education is no longer provided to those who desire and need it, yet more employers are looking for those with college education, and even worse, college is more expensive than ever. This year, “only 34% of American jobs require a high school diploma or less, compared to 72% in the 1970s.” (Carnevale & Smith, 2017) Education is a right that everyone should have, and it is that way until after high school, when it matters the most. Education also supports the growth of civil society, democracy, and political stability, allowing people to learn about their rights and acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to exercise them. However, these things along with other important information that comes into adulthood such as taxes are not even being taught in the curriculum of high schools and therefore not preparing the students for some of the most challenging yet ordinary tasks they will have to deal with in their adult lives. Instead, they must either learn these skills themselves, from someone they know, or be among the few who are fortunate enough to get a class with a teacher kind enough to teach them. The American education system is failing in numerous areas, causing us to fall behind other countries, and further delaying the advancement of our society.
Education should assist in giving people the skills they will need in life earlier to help them from
The function of the education system is to improve students education and prepare them for the real world. Students within that system should receive an “A” when they have mastered the information they are being taught. However, grades no longer accurately reflect how much students have learned. Since 1998 teachers have handed out more A-grades while the average SAT scores have actually fallen. In fact, as Greg Toppo states, an author for USA Today, the amount of A’s handed out actually went up close to ten percent (4). Students can manipulate their courses so that they can get good grades without actually learning much of anything. With grades not accurately representing what students have learned and charter schools failing to solve problehms, teachers need to change how they structure their class or grade assignments.
Education is seen as an achievement among many of the American people. And for young Americans, it’s a necessity in the social structure of America because without education a member of society might be looked at differently compared to someone with a college education. The leaders of government have all gained their share of time studying and gained respect as they moved up the ranks due to their educational level. Many politicians believe that the United States is lacking in many educational sub-areas, it includes high school graduation rates and college dropout percentage. Therefore, education has to be focused first on people who live in the United States since birth and have a reliable background as a citizen that has not committed any
Constant controversy, immaturity at its finest, an American flag, a little blue birdy logo, a verified checkmark, more than 44 million followers, little elementary school arguments with Kim-Jong-un; the list goes on. If you are still unaware of what I am referring to, it is the twitter account of the current President of the United States (POTUS), Donald J. Trump. This man is one of the largest and most active gatekeepers in the realm of social media. Generally, one would assume information posted in a tweet from the POTUS would undoubtedly be accurate. How could that ever not be a reputable source? Why even bother to do some of your own research? Unfortunately, this is not the reality we live in; not everything presented to us through news, government or media is true and thus, everything you hear today requires a conduction of your own research prior to accepting anything as true. To be completely honest, if you did not know I was referring to the POTUS, you are probably in a much better position than his 44 million followers, as you have successfully managed to avoid one of the many gatekeepers/media outlets whose employed methods entail the plaguing that come with the concept post-truth politics. Though, you must keep in mind that is just one of the many outlets, as this concept is currently taking place all over the world. You, along with the rest of the population are essentially forcibly subjected to fake news every single day of your waking life whether you choose to believe it or not. On September 10, 2016, The Economist published an article titled “The Post Truth World: Yes, I’d lie to you.” The article claims the reality of the current political world; a reality The Economist suggests the general population is ignorant of. The article is severely opinionated and due to the multitude of reasons provided in support of their argument, many of which substantiated with an abundance of factual evidence, the authors were very convincing in their contention that post-truth politics are to be with us for many years to come unless changes are made immediately.
If you ever have the chance to visit Taiwan, you should truly come to Taipei. Taipei is the capital of Taiwan, which is the best choice for tourist. The public transportation in Taipei is very popular and clean, you can go wherever you want by MRT or bus, all of them are much cleaner than the public transportation in Los Angeles. Taipei also has many events in every holiday so people like to visit there. For example, they hold an art, music, sport or dance event, which is fashionable. There are a lot of museum in Taipei, most of them are cheap or free, and has many different subject that make people easy to find the subject they interested in. Also that is the reason why there is always busy because there are so many different kind of activity can join that is
Public school education seemed to prepare me for every piece of knowledge necessary; with the exception of common adult skills. Following graduation, this went unnoticed until I was faced with situations that I was not prepared for. There is undoubtedly a flaw in today’s education system when high school seniors graduate without the common knowledge to perform necessary adult tasks. Schools need to place a higher priority on teaching life skills rather than strictly focusing on educational facts. Budget cuts have taken beneficial information, such as life skills, out of the school’s itinerary. When essential life lessons are left out of teacher handbooks, students are left to self teach the information that could have been taught otherwise. This results in young adults who are hopeful not to generate monumental mistakes while making potentially life altering decisions; through trial and error.
Education is not offered to many and taken for granted by most. Society does not run without education. Education reduces the levels of poverty, increases the incomes of individuals, and boosts the economy; however, some countries do not offer education possibilities to their populations. People need the opportunity to earn an education to better their lives and their communities. Education is not valued in the American society and government today.
As a recent high school graduate, high school was an important time for every student. High school is the transferring stage of a student to the real world. Needing to learn important subjects that they will be able to carry and use for the rest of their lives. Which this is a situation faced in many school systems throughout the United States and across the world. Students losing important lessons from our education systems, going into adulthood. This problem was first realized by Prince George's school system, they had integrated a new way for students to learn and adapt to new ideas and concepts. The school system had added art techniques and classes into their core subjects. This addition to the classroom has greatly benefit the student and the people around it. This adaptation has been only used in elementary and middle school systems. Yet to come to a high school education system or any similar ideas to the system. Many High schools are not required for the student to take an art class. Losing many important traits and other ideas, including the ideas that have been used in the Prince George’s school system. To prevent such losses, high school students should be required to take an art class to help self-exploration, new techniques for learning the core subjects, and giving the ability to have a fun and a relax time.
Often in discussions, many quarrels about the school system arise, regarding many different issues. These issues may concern the salary teachers receive, dress codes, and if fine arts should be included in the curriculum for schools. Now the first two issues deem as simple from my own personal experience the majority of people believe that teachers should receive an increased salary and that dress codes should be weakened. However, the last dispute usually deems to display different opposing views regarding the solutions to the issue. From my encounters many consider that fine arts should not be included in the school’s curriculum; this is since these certain groups of people believe that fine arts classes utilize time that could be utilized for studying core academic subjects. Also, they believe that the skills gained through fine arts courses are not necessary skills required for life, so students should not ponder their time away learning these talents and since they are not obligatory skills the government should not waste their tax dollars paying for fine arts teachers. However, those who oppose fine arts in the schools, should know that while core subjects are more important than fine arts that fine arts succor students improve on those primary school subjects. Also, when one is in a grade from kindergarten to twelfth they are not necessarily positive on which career they would relish participating in for the rest of their life, so who knows if these fine arts skills will be important to a career or not? For example, jobs exist in art, theatre, and dance out there, there is a popular job for those who adore art, known as graphic design, which includes designing ads and magazines. However, without that “useless” art class, one may never discover their passion for art and never major in graphic design. Now many also contemplate that if a non-core subject is in the curriculum the course should be for psychical education, however a fine arts class could also count as a physical education course, such as a dance class, meaning the government could utilize funds to hire a dance instructor providing a psychical education teacher and fine arts teacher in one. Although many ponder on the idea of removing fine
America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools.
The roots of a large number of this country’s problems stem from the current education system, and how the upcoming youth views its importance. Many would blame the enormous use of technology or even the lack of parental guidance; if parents would begin educating their children at a young age, these children would be more likely to be successful. There are several issues that would be solved within this country if these young individuals would take their education seriously. Many of the country’s struggles as a whole would diminish, or drastically decline. This issue affects all people of all ages in the United States, but this mainly pertains to college students. The prioritization of education in current society yields immense benefits, including but not limited to decreased rates of poverty and homelessness, a lesser amount of drug abuse, and having a greater sense of financial stability once receiving a degree.
Gun shots, sirens blasting in the distance, cops on every corner, gang members taking over the city controlling the lives of the people. Welcome to Chicago, Illinois one of the most gut reaching cities in the United States that makes you think why do people still live in that certain environmental reality is they have no escape like if they were all caged lab rats . At the age of five I was dragged by my feet and the tiny nails clawing to the cement floor in order to escape my mother's furious grip. Meanwhile other kids my age were playing with their families in their front yard i was being yanked into my mother's gray minivan for a sixteen hour drive which was an eternity with six people smothered together like a peanut butter jelly sandwich.Every second was ticking by slowly i began to ache realizing everything and everyone was fading away in the distance as trees and homes began to fade away in the distance.
The United States is currently suffering from stagnation, a continuous cycle where people’s necessities are not met and resources are not productively allocated. Evidence to this stagnation is the growing education disparity and the widening socioeconomic gap. This recurring nature is due to people’s intrinsic motivation to legitimize and internalize the status quo. Without questioning the system, people have conformed to societal standards. But the reality is, society’s standards is not enough.
There should be a policy for teacher to enforce teaching student for them to be getting good nutrition and health as throughout school time as well as the school district to help encourage it. The United States Department of Agriculture's core child nutrition program helps to impact school nutrition policies such as their financial aspects of school food service operation and what types of food will be better for children that they will eat.(Weir and Sharma) Schools should have healthy breakfast also a lunch that they serve for students to get an idea of what food are good for them and not to just give them bad nutrients.
All over the globe, organizations are taking a position on the rights for all youths to have connections to valuable schooling. Those who advocate for child education are formulated within communities, and throughout nationwide. Through different ways, organizations are making a statement, getting others to listen and they're performing a vital part in constructing and affecting education procedures.
A lot of teens nowadays dread waking up to a blaring alarm in the morning, only to go to school, dreadful and boring. Realistically, those teens haven’t seen the struggles many other people their age and younger go through. Most children in America have had the privilege of having access to public education, unfortunately this opportunity isn’t available to most children around the globe. It’s easy to say you “hate” school when you have always had that option around for you; Like they say, you don’t know what you have until its gone. Many things have affected a countries ability to give their people access to a decent education, sometimes it can be religion that stops children or the simple fact that education and funding it can get expensive. Although the complications can be vast, there are relatively simple solutions to them; People just need to start caring. The shortage of education has been vast and historic, “More than 72 million children of primary education age are not in school and 759 million adults are illiterate and do not have the awareness necessary to improve both their living conditions and those of their children.”(“Right to Education: Situation Around the World.” n.d) Education is a vital part of any society, but isn’t in the reach of an abundance of children all around the world because of low-to-nonexistent educational budgets, a gender barrier that prevents many from continuing their studies, and that fact that many children live in conflict-filled
