John, I will do as you wish but I do not think it will be a problem. I hope you had fun looking at my tree and yes, I have put a lot of work into it. I have always been interested in history and my family tree. Unfortunately, I do not have much time to devote to it between work, school, and family obligations. I started when I was still a teenager when I would listen to and question my grandparents and great aunts. I loved old people and thought they were all sweet and loving until I got older and had a rude awakening. I guess I had that misperception because my grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, and uncles were. I was sitting on the floor with my legs straight out, and I noticed her looking at me. I said what is it, Grandma? Then I got that response. I was shocked and said, Grandma! She laughed at me then, but I suppose I looked like a giant to her. She was only around five foot, and I was five foot seven with long legs. Grandma was a young woman in the 1920’s when women go the right to vote, but as far as I know, she never did. She never learned to drive but years ago they would walk down to the main highway and catch a bus to town, or someone would pick them up. The buses that ran from Little Rock to Hot Springs and back would stop anywhere along the road to pick people up. Neighbors all knew each other back then and would stop and pick people up. They were poor and while shopping at the local country store and the owner made fun of her old coat. Her reply was, “That’s ok. One day there will be a lot of people in Hell wishing it was cold enough to wear a coat.” Another story was from the same store and man. She took a package of meat back because it was spoiled. She slapped it on the counter and said, “Johnny, this meat is sow’s tits, and the old man won’t eat it.” He replied, “Okay, Mrs. Shelton.” I never heard such language from her, and I am sure Johnny had not either.
