In the recent months, gun violence has become more common than ever. It seems that we cannot go a day without turning on the news and learning of a shooting. As a society, we are worried for our safety and question whether or not guns should be held by everyday non-government citizens. It seems that individuals turn to guns when they are not heard and are upset by other events.
Guns in the past and present have been used in battles of war, so in the minds of many they believe that a gun will help solve their problem but in actuality it causes more problems than solving them. The recent shooting and killing of two journalist in Virginia has shaken the community, they were shot at during a live broadcast by a former co-worker. The shooter was upset by his treatment while

We cannot change if we stay in the same pattern day in and day out, the longer we see guns as a solution more shootings will happen at a higher frequency. People do not want to have to worry if a love will be caught in the crossfire or if their town will be next. Those who use guns as their solution only have the plan on heard in their mind, they do not think of the outcome of their actions until they realize it is too late to turn around.
Looking at the past, many great names such as MLK, Mohandas Gandhi, Helen Keller, and Nelson Mandela all led peaceful protests in order to see change and they succeed. So if we all took a step and looked at the problem from a different angle, I strongly believe that not only would we fix our solution, but end the majority of the gun violence we are facing right now. It would be nice to completely check off the gun violence of our worry list, but it is not that easy because as long as guns are available to public we will still have gun related problems but we can soften the blow guns have on
Since 2013 there have been 268 school shootings in the United States alone (Everytown for Gun Safety, 2017). School gun violence is becoming increasingly probable. It is imperative that our government and our citizens come together to create a solution and implement a plan to prevent and stop the occurrence of school gun violence. The solution, for some, is to bring more guns into the picture by arming teachers, principals, and other school officials, or place armed police officers at school sites (LaPierre, 2015). For others, the solution is to make even stricter laws regarding gun use or to get rid of these weapons altogether. These certainly are drastic options; I must say that I do believe the true solution is to increase the focus on mental health services and by extension, mental health awareness. There is simply not enough focus on the mental health of our youth and of our students. Mental health services are the most important step to making schools safer, because this solution touches the entire problem of violence at its root level.
Malcolm X once said, “Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the gun down” (Malcolm X: "The Ballot). However, the news rarely accounts for when a gun has saved someone from potential danger. Every day, gun murders are broadcasted and dramatized on the news. Reports put emphasis on the guns, effectively making firearms look accountable for these evil acts. Indeed, devastation and destruction are what catch the public’s attention and get news channels high ratings. These broadcasts consequently convince the general population that controlling and even banning guns is going to stop the existence of violence. The United States does have the highest gun ownership rate in the world by a significant amount. On the contrary, the United States
Gun control is a topic that has created many discussions in the story to those who can carry them or not since the US is one of the countries where access to all individuals is allowed without the due restrictions. Because of this, every day is more devastating when we hear about a massacre. Unfortunately, America has become in a little time in the country that leads the list of countries where more violent success occurred due to what is happening to our society. America 's gun problem is completely unique. First place in gun violence worldwide. It occupies the sixth place in gun homicide. The US by far the highest number of privately-owned guns in the world despite being a minority. Guns grow in an incredible way that goes from domestic
The scene is all too recognizable. A troubled person pulls out a gun in a school, an office, or a shopping center, and he or she slaughters innocent men, women, and children. Recently, mass murders have occurred at Columbine High School, Virginia Tech University, and Omaha’s Westroads Mall (Schwartz). These tragedies are not inevitable, so people wonder one question. Are guns in our society getting out of control?
People all across the world are debating about whether to require the start of reducing gun violence. Guns have always been a part of American culture, even before we became the America we know today. In colonial times and the days of the Wild West, guns were an essential part of survival. They were needed to kill animals for food and to protect against unwanted trespassers and predators. However, in these modern times, because we have conveniences such as Hannaford and organized police systems, guns have gone from tools of necessity to novelty toys. For the most part, people own guns in this century for sporting reasons or to protect their families and home from intrusion. The simplicity of a gun and the lack of effort it requires owning
In This era not only have guns become a problem to society, but have become one of the world’s leading causes of violence in the United States today which it just keeps getting worse day by day. This country isn’t the same any more we have seen numeral cases of people being wounded by criminals killing each other, terrorism going on more lately and those who have physiatrist problems using
While there is a lot of debate surrounding gun violence and a lot of disagreements with how to solve the problem, we need to come up with a solution that will put a stop to it or at least make the gun violence rate decrease. There are many ways you could potentially fix this problem, while it may not complete stop it, it would help control it. Fixing the problem starts with yourself. Take a stance on which side you support whether is pro or anti guns. Once you decide which side you support you should try and get involved in areas that interest you and work with others to help accomplish the goals you want to accomplish.
In America, every single year, more than 30,000 people have their lives ended by a gun. America is obviously not only the country in this world that has violent or dangerous people. However, they are the only advanced country in this world that perceive such mass violent eruptions with similar frequency. We do not often hear of this occurring in other countries as much as we do in America. It is like the society has become numb to this, it is like it is started becoming something viewed as a normal unfortunate event (like oh it's just another mass shooting, it okay we will get over it, but really it is not okay at in any way). Instead of figuring out ways to solve this problem, it has become one of the most contradictory, biased debates (because we have people, on one hand, saying they need guns to protect themselves in times of danger and people, on the other hand, saying guns should not be allowed because the main goal of guns Is just to bring pain, agony, and damage not protection). People are dying, kids are dying due to guns, this is why gun control laws should be
Gun Control is one of the most debatable topic in the United States for the past several decades. America has witnessed assignation to mass shootings. Every time violence and guns are a factor of traumatic events the ongoing topic of gun control reemerges. The question that is asked is if our nation should enforce stricter gun laws. Would these new gun laws contribute to the decrease of gun crime in our nation? American citizens stand divided on this issue; both sides taking a strong position as what they strongly believe what should be done about guns.
When we watch the news we see news about senseless acts of violence and acts of terrorism. Countless families mourning the death of their loved ones because of violence that spreads like wildfire. All of the tragic incidents that have occurred recently have been due to the senseless act of gun violence. The events such as the Sandy Hook Massacre and the Orlando shooting have been centered on one object; a gun. Not only are these acts of terrorism a problem but the presence of guns in our everyday lives. The things we see on television and social media has an impact on our lives. The violence that’s present in movies, videogames, etc, has a lasting impact on society. The topic of gun violence has been relevant recently and has been an ongoing debate through congress. The lives of many families have been changed because of this senseless violence that occurs and this needs to stop. Everyone knows the topic of gun violence is a serious issue, so what we have to do to resolve this problem is to enforce stricter gun laws, reduce the exposure of violence to children, and have a thorough background checks for every firearm you purchase.
Every year there are millions of people getting killed or seriously hurt across america do to crimes, gang violence ,drug deals and other criminal forms of killing and getting injured. People may think there is gun issue but that’s not the case at all. A source from “infowars” states that FBI has said “nearly five times as many murders are committed with knives than so-called assault rifles” this means there are over 11,961 people getting murdered without firearm weapons. This is not a gun problem to where guns would help with less crime it is a people problem with crime not a gun problem.
“Over the past decade in America, more than 100,000 people have been killed as a result of gun violence. Millions more have been the victim of assaults, robberies, and other crimes involving a gun” (“"FACT SHEET: New Executive Actions to Reduce Gun Violence and Make Our Communities Safer"”). Gun Control is one of the main political issues that has been debated for years now; Guns have led to the mass increase of fatalities and deaths in the U.S. today, being a controversial issue for the past decade. From assassinations, to mass shootings, and homicides, every time guns and violence interact with each other the issue reemerges. As of today, the nation stands separate from the issue, taking a firm position on both sides, debating on what
Over the past few decades gun control has come to the fore front of debate in politics and the mass media. It's no wonder that in the wake of the recent school shootings and attacks on churches that people are beginning to fear guns. People are beginning to see guns as an object of death and destruction and not as what they are meant to be. While guns are used in war they are not intended to kill innocent people, guns are intended to be used by experienced gun handlers for protection and hunting. When used properly a gun is no more dangerous than a car or a knife, all of these can be used in crime but none of them are intended to be.
When I was a kid, I did not think about gun violence. In fact, I grew up in a household that accepted guns. My dad, uncle, and grandfather all owned guns, and I never really gave much thought about it. When I was younger my dad bought me a little BB gun and taught me how to use it. We used to go outside in our backyard which was all fenced off. He taught me all the safety precautions, and set up the paper targets for me to shoot. I always believed that was normal, everyone owned guns. I didn't realize the importance in which they played, in our society, for protection, until July 20, 2012. I watched the frightening and horrific incident that took place in a no gun-zone theater in Aurora, Colorado. It was that day at my house that the importance of guns became very clear to me. As I watched the intense news, I saw how all those victims were in danger, and how they appeared so helpless. They were trapped, and left with nothing to do but call 911, and wait for the police to show up. In the last five years, I have come to realization the importance that guns play, whether or not it is in a gun-free zone or not. They are a base of protection, because attackers will always find away to obtain them.
Gun violence has been around for centuries and there have been many mass shootings, homicides and suicides. There is always the argument on “do guns kill people” or “do people kill people”? What people really need to be looking at is the problem which is people stocking up on guns and not knowing how to properly handle them and all the mass shootings that are taking place. As a country, people need to be coming up with solutions instead of doing nothing.
