Lindsay and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year
"High school – the prime time of every kid's life, a dream come true, memories you'll never forget – "… I don't think so. Let's break it down from my view: Lindsay Callihan, a real 16-year-old kid living the real junior year, high school life. The ultimate goal of high school: build you up, break you down, and then build you up while simultaneously breaking you down again. So far, high school can be broken down into three different categories: the good, the bad, and the evil.
Of course, the good comes first. It acts as a curtain obstructing your view from what really lies ahead of you. Some ask, what is the good of high school? If you're a high schooler, that's right, you already guessed it – freshman and sophomore year. Although you're terrified and a little annoyed that you were pushed back to the bottom of the food chain once again, the classes are a breeze. No AP classes mean you get to experience a gift many of us juniors have forgotten about – a social life. Dare I say you actually get to go out on a weeknight. Yes, a weeknight. These years are transitions into a new phase and the teachers want to keep it a light breeze, after all, you're still pretty young. Sometimes it will start to thunder and maybe a little light rain will fall, but that's only once in a blue moon. Sophomores aren't the newbies trying not to get scared away; however, they need an easy break year to distract them from their impending doom.
Many people say that high school should be the best four years of your life. Most of us entered high school with this idea in mind, determined to enjoy every second of it. The confidence and energy that we held that first September allowed us to dive right into what has been an amazing four
High school is always considered some of the best years of life. Students live with their families, see their friends almost everyday, and participate in the activities they love with the people they love. It has enough freedom for the student to decide how hard they will try, but it also has just the right amount of restrictions that parents can step in to make the student work. High school also gives students many opportunities to succeed and keep letting them try again if they fail. For example, a math teacher may allow a student to retake two test throughout a semester, but if the student proves that they are trying in the class then the teacher may allow them to retake a few more tests. Also, schoolwork is not tedious or lengthy,
Teachers guide me walk on the right way again, they talk to me about future and how wonderful thing would happen in high school. I feel hopeful again, I start learn again with my friends in high school, we help each other, and encourage each other, Also the teachers would helped us in anytime we have problem. Overall, I believe high school is a most important of life. it has helped you make yourself feel better about who you are. I glad I was the part of high school.
Everyone has heard or been told, “high school is what you make of it.” High school is in fact what you make of it, but it is also the time of great change in everybody. Entering grade nine you still feel like a kid, your post-secondary and career choices are far from top priority. However, by grade twelve we become more mature and grow into young adults. Personally looking back to my grade nine self and comparing her to my grade twelve self of today, I am able to see changes in my character, my athletics and my goals.

Let's take a look at an average High School students day: John wakes up to his screeching alarm clock at 5:30 am after getting 6.5 hours of sleep, 2 less than the average teen is suppose to get, he pounds his alarm in frustration hitting snooze until 5:45. He is cut short on his 15-minute nap by his mom, someone who has been getting up at 5:30 for 10 years now, she yells to him “Get up, you need to get ready for school”. So John rolls out of bed and into the shower, he gets dressed and eats breakfast before he heads out to the buss that comes and picks him up at 6:10 am. Once at school at 7:10 am an hour later, he finds his seat in homeroom to finish some of his homework before school starting at 7:40 am. He attends classes, lunch, and study halls until 2 pm. John plays a sport and is part of a club, not too uncommon as kids look to stack their college applications with everything they can. He meets with his club from 2:00-3:00 pm, then has to hurry to practice which starts at 3:30 pm and runs until 5:50 pm. John now waits till he can get a ride home from a friend at 6:30 pm, getting him home in time for dinner which starts at 7 pm. He finishes dinner at 7:30 pm and has homework until 10:00 pm. After talking to his friends for an hour on his phone; it is now 11:00 pm, and John falls asleep, only to repeat the same tomorrow. No wonder high school kids are always tired. According to Judith A. Owens who conducted a study on; “Impact of Delaying School Start Time on Adolescent Sleep, Mood, and Behavior.” she states that teenagers need at least 8.5-9.25 hours of sleep a night; this is clearly not happening based on the average high school students day.

LGBT+, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and beyond. Queer (n.) a homosexual person. Many people have the thoughts of being a part of the LGBT+ community. At Least 1 in 6 people are queer and begin questioning at a varying teenage level(usually 5-9+ grade). LGBT has been a topic floating around for a while but after gay marriage was legalized in 2016, more topics started coming up and the pot was stirred even more. Of course, the 2017 election has also brought up a bunch of talk about conversion therapy (the use of physiological methods to change a person's sexuality to straight) and whether or not gay rights will stay legalized due to our new president. If many people are LGBT+ or questioning, should we educate middle school students on
You have decited on making a new school district in Jefferson County. I am writing to you so I can hopefully give you same ideas and persuade you to making a good school. I have Ideas and reasons on a the school’s name, mascot, and colors.
Middle school is hard. The homework, your schedule, different teachers, switching classes, friends, not having friends, different groups of friends, girls/boys, projects, band, sports, not making the sports, and homework are all a few things to mention that come along with middle school. Even thinking about these things, middle school is such an exciting, new time that needs to be enjoyed by all students. There are so many fun field trips, experiences, and sharing times, that make seventh grade an amazing time. To make the most of seventh grade, you need to always get a good night’s sleep, you need to always turn your work in on time, and you need to stay on top of all your classes, notes, and assignments.
There are a lot of kids that go to middle school, but what is it like to be there. Now days you hear a lot about bullying and other bad stuff that happens in middle school, but do think all of that is true. Probably not.
Entering high school is the beginning of a whole new learning experience. Transitioning from middle school, high school presents more classes, students, and a bigger campus. It brings new expectations and responsibilities to each of us. High school also offers fresh chances to make new friends, try new sports and activities, and really explore who we are as individuals. The goal is to maintain good grades, score high on the SAT test, and keep a positive attitude so colleges and universities will accept you. Of course it's not as easy at sounds, but it's achievable. It requires a lot of work and dedication to every subject. Some students breeze their way through while others live in misery trying to pass their
High school is only what you make of it. It is a time for new experiences, meeting new people, and intellectually growing. Making the most of life while you’re young is something you won’t ever regret because in the near future, the good and the
Once a child graduates from elementary school and goes on to high school, he or she is already molded into the person he or she will be for the rest of his or her life. Sure all kids become more mature within those four years, but their values are still the same, and in some cases even stronger. In most circumstances, a child will use what they learned in the past to make decisions inhe future. High school, however, is important for other reasons as well. High school is the very last step before a student can enter the realm of higher education. Therefore, high school is essentially what prepares a student to go on to bigger and better things. High school is where
