Persuasive Essay: Animal Testing Should Be Banned Worldwide

Abraham Lincoln once said, “I am in favour of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being.” I couldn’t agree more with this statement as I do not believe that animal testing is right and I am totally against it.

Animal testing should not be used in cosmetic industries as a source of experimentation because it is unethical and inefficient. It is a cruel way of trying to find results that are not even always trustworthy. Everyone has a different reaction to different chemicals so why even bother animals for testing? Also different species can respond differently when exposed to the same chemical so animal testing can be inefficient. The results from animal tests can be quite variable and difficult to interpret therefore it may not be applicable to human beings. Thus, consumer safety still cannot be guaranteed even after these gruesome tests which are totally unethical. It is also unethical to torture and end the lives of these animals each year for our own luxury. Everyday cosmetic industries are using defenseless animals very cruelly just to carry out some most often useless tests. Instead they should use other alternatives which has been proved to yield better and accurate results than tests involving animals.

Imagine you're a scientist. You get a rat. You stuff drugs in it. The rat slowly dies. Animal testing is a problem and should be banned because it harms animals, the results are unreliable, and other countries banned it.

Imagine just waking up one day being stripped of your home, children, food and everything you own. You’re in the dark and all of a sudden these bright, intense, fluorescent lights flick on. A very large, unfamiliar looking menacing figure approaches you and prods you with needles and all sorts of drugs. Your barely fed and you're stuck here for the rest of your life. Now what if I told you that already happens today in the year 2017. These “people” are referencing poor defenseless animals that have to go through these horrible conditions every day just for an experiment that might not even work. All animal testing should be banned, even if such testings would save human lives because, the process is painful, it’s potentially endangering a species and haven't all cruel despicable nations tested on not only humans but also animals.

One reason animal testing should be banned is because it is cruel and inhumane. According to Humane Society International, animal testing is when animals are forced feeding, forced inhaling, food and water deprivation, physical restraint for a long period of time, they are burned to study the healing process, neck breaking, decapitation, and numerous other. The US Development of Agriculture (USDA) reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments, while being given no anesthesia for the pain. This number includes 1,395 primates, 5,996 rabbits, 33,652 guinea pigs, and 48,015 hamsters.

In addition to the fact that animal experimentation is ineffective, unreliable, and costly, testing on animals also violates animal rights. Do we think that just because we are superior to animals that we have the right to subject these innocent creatures to cruel and painful experiments? The superiority humans feel over animals may be the reason why humans feel less troubled by inflicting pain on animals. Or perhaps humans justify this cruel act by saying that animals would not be used in experiments if their use was not absolutely necessary. The pain and misery these animals are put through is absolutely unjustified, especially since the experiments they are subject to are proven to be unnecessary and even pointless. Human doing harmful things to animals by using them in the laboratory. Laboratory is not a place for animals to stay there. The animals that researcher used for testing are mice, pig, cat, dog, monkey, and others. They were suffering alive by human being. Think about what if animal treated us like the way we treated them, we will open our mind. Animal have feelings like us and they should treat with respect. Animals were used to develop anesthetics to prevent human pain and suffering during surgery. Yes, animal testing helps many human life, but can we save their lives using human? It is not fair for them to be use by human as we live on the same planet. Moreover, animal testing is harmful and painful for any kind of animal to endure. Yet, animal testing happened many years ago and until now. The animal lovers fight hard to prevent animal testing. Last couple years, the percentage of animal testing in the United Kingdom has decreased. Scientist used them for medical research and to study about it. Physician try testing the animal before touching any human being. Now a day, people have different beliefs about using the animals to test them. Some people will agree with testing animal, but some will disagree with it. Especially today generation, new technology were made so they try to use less animal testing. Instead of using living creature, we should use technologies to help us find out what we need to do. Therefore, animal testing should not be use in lab under any circumstances.

Hurt, injured, abused, starved, that is how animals are treated in testing new products, like Tylenol, and even the hair products you had to have. So is it enough to waste animal lives for that toothpaste, even your hair conditioner!? My reasons to oppose this heinous act are, animal abuse, alternative ways, and the results show no!

Each year in U.S. laboratories, small animals are tortured in several ways such as being deafened, having their skin burned off, and having holes drilled in their heads (PETA, “Animals in Medical Experiments”). These cruel abuses can be prevented if animal testing is eliminated. Animal testing is an inhumane method of research that uses animals to ensure the safety of medicines and cosmetic products for human beings. As suggested by Kristina Cook, small animals such as mice, rabbits, and guinea pigs are the creatures who are subjected most to the torture, but larger animals including primates and dogs are also frequently used for experimentation.

The use of research on animals originated from the Greeks in the 3rd century. Animal testing has evolved over time, for this reason, the modern era of animal testing began about 150 years ago. Experimentations on animals have been a common ethical dilemma in society for the past centuries. I believe that animal testing can benefit mankind, because many animals have the same body organs and functions as humans; therefore they are useful for conducting research for developing drugs, medical procedures, and treatments.

People tend to turn a blind eye to how their household products are made, resulting in the death of more than 100 million animals a year. Rats and mice are force fed substances, causing them to experience effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, bloody tears, and difficulty breathing. A substance is put onto rabbit’s and guinea pig’s skin, with no pain relief, to study reactions such as swelling, redness, and cracking of the skin. In worse cases, chemicals are put into rabbit’s eyes and the side effects are observed. Animals should not be used to test the quality and safety of products not only because it is inhumane but because there are other ways to test the products and most of the animals are not protected by the law.

Did you know that because of animal testing about 100 million animals are killed because of it? Animal testing should be stopped in the USA.On the other hand people say that animal testing is good thing because they think that it will help medical research progress.However I believe that animal testing should be stopped because millions of animals are dying because the testes that the researchers/ works are conducting experiments that are causing them harm. Animal testing should be stopped because animals being tested in facilities are treated poorly it can also cause trauma to the animals and animals being tested in facilities are isolated with no social contact.

Knowing that animals spend their live in cages, unable to make normal choices or express their natural behaviors hurts. Most animals never experience fresh air or sunshine in their natural habitat, they only experience cages and pain .All the poor animals suffer through mental and physical health and suffering from the boredom and fear of their daily lives. Research shows that people usually accept animal testing when they think that these animals don’t suffer and that it’s necessary, of course that is not true because animals suffer from all the painful experiments being used in them. Back in 2010, Minnesota used more cats for testing than any other state, New jersey used the most dogs using more dogs than any other state, and massachusetts used the most primates than any other state. This needs to stop. The variety of animals being used each day, week, month, and year is unbelievable. All the animals do not deserve being tortured like this it is insane, and some one has to be there to stop all this nonsense going on each
