You are on a plane 10,000 feet up, and it is negative 4 degrees fahrenheit, with a 200 mph wind in your face, and there are 23 pounds of money attached to you, and 4 parachutes tightly strapped on your body. Would you jump? After threatening to blow up a passenger jet and getting his demands of $200,000 and 4 parachutes, Dan Cooper jumped out of a Boeing 727 on November 24, 1971 and was never seen or heard from after that. Dan was mistakenly said as D.B in a newspaper article and the name stuck with him ever since. There are theories that Cooper landed in a body of water and died because of hypothermia, or some say that he died after the jump and got eaten by wolves. The theory that's most likely proven is that D.B. Cooper survived his escape. There is anecdotal and physical evidence, and expert testimony that can prove Cooper’s survival.
Anecdotal evidence shows that D.B Cooper survived the jump. With over 5,000 people and 50 dogs searching the 20 square mile drop zone, it is unlikely that he died, because no body was ever recovered. Additionally, he asked for 4 specific parachutes: “two main back chutes and two safety front chutes” stated in The Skyjacker That Got Away. This reveals his knowledge about skydiving. Tina Mucklow and Florence Schaffner two of the three flight attendants aboard Northwest Orient Flight 305 wrote down Coopers demands. When they were interviewed by the FBI, they explained that the demands on the note specified the request for the specific
Soon after takeoff, after having his cigarette, bourbon, and a soda, Cooper handed a note to one of the two stewardesses on the plane (Warchol 1; “D.B. Cooper” 1). The stewardess, Florence Schaffner, planned to read it later until one of the other passengers urged her to take
Cooper will for now and forever remain a mystery. Throughout the beginning of the flight, D.B. Cooper showed in many different areas how his brilliant planning would pay off. During the end of his time on the flight, D.B. Cooper executed his plan to perfection. Finally, after the entire event is over, the overwhelming amount of people claiming to be the real D.B. Cooper has kept his true identity a secret. We will probably never find any more evidence of who D.B. Cooper really is, truly making him the "Bigfoot of the Pacific Northwest" (The 40-Year
Before people can start developing different theories about D.B Cooper, we first have to ask ourselves whether he survive the jump. As the FBI investigates this possibility, they discover more and more about the mysterious D.B Cooper. “We originally thought Cooper was an experienced jumper, perhaps even a paratrooper,” says Special Agent Carr. However, after a few years of research and investigation, the FBI soon discovers that this could not true. According to the FBI, there was no trained paratrooper who could have jumped in the rain, in complete darkness, with a 200 mph wind, and survive. Even if D.B Cooper somehow managed to survived the jump, there was no way he could have survived in the middle of the forest without any supplies during the winter time. The FBI is almost positive that he had no one waiting for him after the jump. One reason why they believe this is that there would have been no way for anyone to track his location because no one could have known exactly where he landed. According to Agent Carr, he jumped at a random location with no ground visibility.
Being an athletes is one of the best-paid jobs on Earth. Being that they are paid so much the cost for the consumer is very high. The prices of tickets and sports memorabilia have been steadily rising over the years. The average ticket prices for the NHL, MLB, NBA and NFL all rose 5% to 10% this year, according to Jon Greenberg, executive editor of Team Marketing Report. (Mihoces).
The fact that there was seventy four people on board that day is astonishing. Only six people that were on that plane survived, and it’s eye opening to hear or read this man's story. Roger Rosenblatt’s story is very eye opening and it shows that you should live life to the fullest. He titled the story “The Man in The Water” because they didn’t know who it was that risked his entire life for those six people. Many people, including me, would be confused as to why he wouldn’t didn’t take the rope after the others. The man really didn't think about himself, he were to he would have taken that rope. Many people really only think about themselves, and those six people that were saved, should respect that they are still alive and that man risked his life to save all of
On Saturday evening, cheered on by family and friends that had gathered at California’s Simi Valley, Aikins boarded the Cessna airplane that would fly him to the desired altitude. Shortly after, they, along with millions of others watching on television, held their breath as Aikins plummeted toward the ground, face first, with his arms outstretched. At about 10,000 feet, the skydiver handed his oxygen mask to one of two team members who were doing the jump as well. They, of course, had
The cost of college tuition is continually on the rise and has placed many burdens on high school students as well as their families. Some of the burdens that are placed are a result of parents putting pressure on their children to earn scholarships. Some of the burden is a result of students putting pressure on themselves to earn scholarships. Then, there is the burden of high college debt once the student graduates. Is this pressure really helping our students or is it hurting them? The bottom line is college tuition is skyrocketing out of control and something must be done before it destroys our families and our children.
Once the hijacker’s demands were met on the ground the airport radioed the circling airliner announcing, “everything is ready for your arrival.” Once landed Cooper ordered the pilots to taxi to a secluded well-lit tarmac. He also demanded that no vehicles approach the parked aircraft and a single person deliver the parachutes and money, which were delivered via the aft stairs of the 727. During the delivery of the ransom Cooper questioned Mucklow about the stairway, she did not believe that they could be deployed mid flight, Cooper told her flat out she was wrong and that the stairs could in fact be deployed during flight. Once his ransom was onboard the aircraft Cooper got busy, demanding the pilots fly at no more than 150 knots, no higher than 10,000 feet and with the wing flaps set at 15 degrees. Cooper showed intimate knowledge of the aircraft by knowing the settings
Introduction Paragraph - It was a dark and stormy night, when the mysterious D.B. Cooper parachuted into the unknown. Every action and word could have taken the flight crew’s lives, or so they thought. The strange, anonymous man who walked on that plane on the Eve of Thanksgiving is nameless no more. Most thought Cooper died the night of his infamous skyjacking, but I don’t. I’m going to prove that he lived.
The last time I saw Charlie outside prison walls we were on the run. Charlie was on the run, not I, I just went along for the ride because he was my husband. Charlie was on parole, but he loved to drink his booze. In our state it's a violation to drink while on parole.
Surviving a plunge surrounded by a semiprotective cocoon of debris is more common than surviving a pure free-fall, according to Hamilton's statistics; 31 such confirmed or "plausible" incidents have occurred since the 1940s. Free-fallers constitute a much more exclusive club, with just 13 confirmed or plausible incidents, including perennial Ripley's Believe It or Not superstar Alan Magee—blown from his B-17 on a 1943 mission over France. The New Jersey airman, more recently the subject of a MythBusters episode, fell 20,000 feet and crashed into a train station; he was subsequently captured by German troops, who were astonished at his survival.
The jump from the plane was intense but if he had the current skills there is a good chance that he would land the jump. There were also multiple things found after the jump that could lead to him being alive. The many suspects help support that he was alive after the jump.
This was it, all my hard work, everything that I had done was for this moment. I was scared thinking if my parachute didn’t deploy or if I didn’t jump far enough from the airplane that I would get smashed into the jump door and sent out spinning. My mind raced through a million different outcomes and none of them seemed good, but I was not going to back down. Readying for the green light, I jumped into stance and swung my static line in front of

Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
