When I was younger I had a babysitter who was in high school. I looked up to her so much and wanted to be a big girl like her and go to high school. Little did I know that when I got that old I would want to be that little girl again. With senior year beginning I’ve been getting hounded with college emails and universities calling to invite me to visit. Having to make the decision of where I want to go to college, what I want to study, and how I’m gonna make all that happen while still being in high school and getting treated like a child is a bit overwhelming. I never realized how overwhelming and stressful senior year would be.
Having escaped rule from a tyrannical British government, the United States was founded on ideals of freedom and equality for all people. These fantasies of universal egalitarianism turned out to be merely that: fantasies. American history is full of stories of the oppressed struggling to get the rights they deserve and of the controversy over these issues that consequently ensues. “The Hypocrisy of American Slavery” by Frederick Douglass and “We Shall Overcome” by Lyndon B. Johnson are two speeches made confronting two of these issues. Douglass’s speech, delivered in 1852, condemns the institution of slavery and maintains that slaves are men and are therefore entitled to freedom. Johnson’s speech, on the other hand, was written in 1965 and discussed the civil rights movement. In it, he implored local governments to allow all American citizens, regardless of race, to vote. Despite the significant gap in time between these two addresses, both speakers use similar persuasive techniques, including ethos, pathos, and parallelism, to convince their audience that change needs to be implemented in America.
The last time I saw Charlie outside prison walls we were on the run. Charlie was on the run, not I, I just went along for the ride because he was my husband. Charlie was on parole, but he loved to drink his booze. In our state it's a violation to drink while on parole.
Being an athletes is one of the best-paid jobs on Earth. Being that they are paid so much the cost for the consumer is very high. The first quarter is always the hardest for me, this one especially as I work a lot after school. Being senior year I was looking to take an easy route, but instead I took hard classes to keep challenging myself; looking back now I should have taken the easy route. The biggest struggle has been finding time to work in homework after work, getting my work in on time, and I’m looking to improve my quality of work for the next quarter.
Over 7,500 animals are killed in zoos because they are deemed surplus, as stated by Liz Tyson an animals rights activist. This giraffe in particular sparked a huge controversy. HIs name was Marius, he was homed at the Copenhagen Zoo and was 2 years old when the staff killed him with a bolt gun. Marius was then dissected and fed to lions in front of ongoing zoo goers. What got people fuming is that he was a healthy, young giraffe. Therefore I believe the killing of Marius should not be justified.
The cost of college tuition is continually on the rise and has placed many burdens on high school students as well as their families. Some of the burdens that are placed are a result of parents putting pressure on their children to earn scholarships. Some of the burden is a result of students putting pressure on themselves to earn scholarships. Then, there is the burden of high college debt once the student graduates. Is this pressure really helping our students or is it hurting them? The bottom line is college tuition is skyrocketing out of control and something must be done before it destroys our families and our children.
For incoming freshman who are attending to Oakland Unity, there are some things you need to know. Incoming freshmen need to be prepared for school by bringing folders and especially pencils. It's important for freshmen to bring materials school because teachers will not provide them. Since eighth grade is the last year for middle school, you would usually hang out with friends you've known for a long time. Unfortunately, when transferring to high school, friends will (or eventually) depart from you. So I recommend for incoming freshmen to try to make some new friends. Middle school grades and work were easy to achieve and weren't important back then, but now you're transferring into high school. High school is very hard and
Senioritis is a serious affliction. However, before you mentally check out there are a few things you need to get done: file your FASFA, apply for scholarships, and apply for colleges. Everything pertaining to college needs to be done early, even once you get into college. My personal model is if you aren't ahead of the game, you're two steps behind.
Several things need to be done before a successful admission to CU. Starting the application seems straightforward to do at a glance. Indeed, it is a crucial step, and there is nothing wrong to proceed the application process. However, there will immediately be steps that may seem tedious. For example, writing a personal statement, choosing a degree from the list of thousands of degrees, submitting transcripts, getting a recommendation, and fulfilling other requirements. In fact, many obstacles
Many people in our society have been cast away and looked down upon because they are different from us. Others convey these messages including Harper Lee , in To Kill a Mockingbird , and "What , of this Goldfish , Would You Wish ? ",by Etgar Keret. We can accept others in many ways including ending discrimination , disregards people past action or choice , and being able to see stuff from others people's point of view. Humans need to always accept those who are different for the greater good of our society .

Hello during this school year you will be considered as a senior. As a senior you will face questions such as what do you want to major on? What school will you be attending or considering? Have you applied/submitted any scholarships? You may be saying to yourself no I haven't well don't worry because I will be helping you through this the entire school year. The first thing you need to do is make a list of all the universities/colleges you have in mind on applying, don't limit yourself it could be 5,10,25,50, or even 100, just make a list. Then get informed if they offer the degree you are trying to pursue. While you are getting that information also know what type of scores will you be needing such as the SAT, ACT, and the TSI or any other
Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
As I sat there and thought to myself what did everyone thing of me after hearing what I have done. “Taylor Bloom responsible for the deaths of 53 high school students. My head started to wander back to my high school days. In my sophomore year, I was bullied nearly every sing day by the stupid jocks. I started to hate myself so I decided to change my look. The next day I straightened my hair, put a black skirt on, and a white button up shirt with some heels, I left a few of the buttons on my shirt unbuttoned. I was making my way up to the school, I saw all eyes on me even the jocks could not take their eyes off of me. WAS I BECOMING POPULAR? Two weeks later I was the most popular girl in South Lake High. I had a tall, handsome boyfriend and my two new best friends Karli and Rebecca. Everyone wanted to be like me, everyone loved me or as I should say “worshipped me”. Until one night at a party I got super intoxicated and ended up doing things I probably shouldn’t have. That next day everyone was talking about it and all eyes were on me not that I am complaining, but it was not a good look they were giving me… they all knew what I had done that previous night. I did not show up for school the rest of the semester in fear I would lose my reputation so I started getting homeschooled.
