Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and worldwide. The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she’d be finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the pregnancy. For many years this issue of abortion has came out, giving a huge debate about it. Right now, in the United States abortion is legal but may be restricted by the states. The states have limited degree of power. Some of the laws passed by some states are the requirement of parental notification for minors, the term of pregnancy, the abortion risk information given to the patients for the procedure, etc. Abortion is becoming more pro choice. I wanted to research abortion because I didn’t really know anything about it when we had debates in class.

People who support anti-abortion disregard a woman’s reason for having one and how having a child may affect their life. Society is focused on a life that has not seen the world. They don’t realize that a woman may not be financially stable, mentally stable, or healthy enough to bear a child. All three articles capture the idea that women should have the right to an abortion.

Teen pregnancies are very complicated and also very unfair for the mothers. Most schools do not allow pregnant girls to continue their education, but the fathers may continue school life as usual. A large concern of teen pregnancies is the health both the mother and child. A woman's age can significantly affect the mental and physical state of the child. Most young bodies are unable to produce a healthy child due to the teen’s physical changes. The younger the mother, the increased chance of both mental and physical problems. Also, removing the fetus should be compared to the life the child would have. Children born from unplanned pregnancies are often raised in poverty and possibly abusive homes. Five out of ten pregnant teens are not supported by their families. This leads to them needing to take care of both themselves and the child alone. Since most girls cannot attend school, they do not get their degrees which can hurt their chances for college and multiple job opportunities. Currently in the United States, abortion among many other topics is controversial and causes an uproaring due to the many divergent opinions. The argument behind abortion in America is that when a woman goes and follows through with the procedure, it is viewed as murder in the eyes of many. Religious groups tend to lean towards anti-abortion, and see abortion as a ‘sin’ due to their beliefs, which causes unavoidable debates.

There are several controversial debates regarding the medical procedure of abortion. Abortion is known to be the process of removing an undeveloped fetus from the mother's womb; ending the pregnancy. During early pregnancy, the yet to be mother has to make a choice: if to carry the unborn child to birth or to abort it before it is able to future develop. This procedure has created lots of bias and opinions: two opposing faction, on one side, individuals are all "for" the actions of abortions, supporting the actions of abortion and believe that women should be able to decide if they want to abort or not. In the other hand, there are many individuals who are all against the idea of abortion and want the action of aborting to be illegal. No nation committed to individual liberty should consider the wholesale murder of helpless babies with little to no concern for the well-being of the babies. Women are not forced to bear children, they choose to bear children by the act of having unprotected sexual intercourse. The practices of ending a pregnancy should be banned all around the world.

Pro-life supporters often look at the emotional and physical distress it causes to have an abortion but even this has been proven untrue. They argue that abortion is an unsafe procedure that can result in many health issue, one being infertility and even death. Of course every procedure has its risks but in 2012 only four women died after having an abortion. They also believe abortion causes mental problems for the mom, saying she may feel guilty for “killing” her unborn child. This can lead to depression and anxiety which can be hard to deal with. A study in 2013 found that women who didn’t get abortion said they felt “more anger and regret” and that 95% of women who had an abortion felt it was “the right decision.”

To be pro-choice means to support abortion. Women have an essential right to access abortion in order to satisfy their personal concerns. It allows women to take control of their own bodies, instead of having the government decide what is best for them. If men are allowed to impregnate women and not be forced to take responsibility for the aftermath, women should not be forced to carry out the pregnancy. Men are allowed to carry on with their lives and go to work every day. Yet, women are unable to receive paid leave with the possibility of not being able to go to work ever again, all because they have to take care of a child they were forced to keep in the first place. Like men, women have aspirations and life goals they want to achieve. However, pregnancy has ruined that for many. For women who are financially unstable, abortion would be an available option since the cost of childbirth is expensive. Also, for patients that abuse medications or have mental illnesses, abortion is an alternative way to ensure that their condition will not affect another human being. They would not be capable of bringing a child into this world, let alone raising one. Pregnancy causes hormones to go all over the place, which can be harmful and overwhelming for women with mental illness. Having to deal with a carrying a child on top of other personal stress is unnecessary. Abortion should be an available option for fetuses that have birth defects, such as Down syndrome. If there is a detected fetal deformity, women should have the power to make a choice about what happens to their body. Abortion is one of today’s most controversial issues and topics of discussion and it is also one of the topics which is immoral by the church and its Catholic social teaching of human dignity and respect for life.
