Have you ever wondered what adoption is like? Adoption is okay, I guess depends who adopted you. On the other hand foster care was very stressful. It can be fun depends whose house you are at. There can be fun, happy, nice, parents or mean, rude, and don’t care parents. There were plenty of people involved with this event and problem. There were also a lot of places I went before I went to my foster parent’s house. The people who were involved with my this problem are: The caseworker, my mom, my brother’s dad (Chris), my brother (Caleb), my grandma, grandpa, the judge, and also foster parents (Wanda and John). The places that I stayed were: First Sonic, On June 19, 2013 I was asleep and my mom woke up and the cops started knocking at the door. My mom looked out the window. She yelled and everyone woke up. I was like “Thanks for waking me! Now what's wrong?” *Knocking* “DON’T ANSWER THAT DOOR BRIEANNEN FAITH,” mom commanded. “Why?” I asked. Mom answered, “It’s the cops.” I yelled “..WHY? Nobody answered the door. All you see is cops coming threw the door. My mom freaked out. My brother and I started crying because we had no clue what was going on. The cops took Caleb and me to the Cleburne County Courthouse. Caleb was so scared. That was his first time riding in the back of a cop car. He asked me scarcely, “Bree what’s going to happen?” I answered him camly, “We will be safe I promise.” We were about to leave. The cops were talking to mom and Chris. We didn’t hear a word they said. The only thing I heard the police officer say was “Follow us!” Which that didn’t work out so good. They didn’t follow like the police officer said. Everything went down and they screwed up. The police officer called another cop because since we were in the car he didn’t want to chase my mom and Chris. The other cop passed up and followed them and tried to track them down. They finally found them and we were already at the DHS place. They came but they were in handcuffs. Mom said, “I’m sorry for not listening.” I yelled, “Mother what were you thinking I thought you were better than that.” Chris sat there and stared at Caleb with nothing to say. Caleb was so scared he started crying
Being a foster parent is a choice that I made with a lot of support from my family and friends. I
Imagine spending so much effort of trying to have a child but you can’t because through a complication in the war you became sterile. Military Veterans look towards adoption as a way to have children since combat injuries don't permit them to (Wax-Thibodeaux). Therefore, the costs of adoption are almost 40,000 dollars per child in the U.S. today (Kaminer). Furthermore, you have to think about the additional funds you need to raise the child after the adoption is complete. Within the year 2008, domestic adoption ranged from 15,000 to 30,000 dollars per child. Therefore, the government tried to help parents with the costs by creating a tax credit up to 11,700 dollars for adopting parents to claim towards financial help (Block). Along with
Have you ever been in foster care? Foster care is very hectic. It will eventually get better once you are adopted, but if you don’t like who you are getting adopted by then it’s not ok. When I was in foster care I was staying with this one family. They were nice but they had 3 other foster kids that they were taking care of also. I was in foster care for about a half a year. It wasn’t the best feeling not being around people I love and knew. I eventually got somewhat comfortable around my foster parents but it was still not the same as being around my family.
The unmarked vehicles dash cam continued to roll as Officers C & D approached Officer McKay’s vehicle, demanding he put his hands on the steering wheel. As he released the minor from his hands, the minor, now an obvious victim, ran from the vehicle, crying and screaming, and ran to Officer D, who approached the passenger’s side of the vehicle. Officer D then radioed for Officers A & B to approach the scene. Officer C removed Officer McKay from the vehicle, telling him his rights and that he is under arrest for child endangerment. Officer D then radioed for EMS for the victim, to triage her and make sure no injuries or rape has been sustained. A forensics team was called in to collect any evidence from Officer McKay’s vehicle. EMS arrived on location and examined the victim, then released her to her
EREPORT # 18782 stated the following: The incident happened on 1/20/2016, evening. Joshua stated that his adoptive mother choked him when he accidentally closed the door on her foot in the doorway. When she heard her husband walking into the room, she turned on Joshua and said for him to stop - as if he had tried to harm her. I found out about the situation because the student confided. The child told the school personnel. This couple holds a current DHS Foster Home license. They have previously had children removed from the home due to similar incidents. (Leah & John Stanley, former foster children) Also, another foster child was removed this home last week because he had used a horse needle to stab another student while at school. (Christopher
Where did the police go wrong here? First of all the police entered the house violently to
My car was parked outside on the driveway, well my mom's old beat-up Volkswagen, which was bound to fall apart any time soon. I drove to the local restaurant near school and walked to the high school. The police cars disappeared, but there were a few cars in the parking lot that seemed to belong to detectives and teachers.
After this I was asked by Officer McCauley what I was interested in seeing during my ride along. Although I did not have a clear thing I wanted to see, we went to the School of Nursing building, because I had never been there before. When we arrived at this building detective McCauley proceeded to do a building check. The building check was supposed to show that there were no problems and that because it was during spring break. After completing this check, he radioed to the dispatcher “Building check complete” We also then went to the School of Business, Barsema hall and did another building
While there are those that will argue against adoption, the real argument should be; potential adoptive parents should plan sensibly and be prepared while considering all the details that will play a role in the adoption process. Forethought to all the factors is impossible; there will always be more questions, but they should not just jump in, adoption is not something you should make irrational decisions about. This is a lifelong commitment that will affect your whole family, also the life of a child. The public views adoptive children as the vulnerable party in adoption, agencies acknowledge that adoptive parents are also vulnerable. Prospective parents face stressful individual and collective role transition challenges as they anticipate forming a new adoptive family. (Farber 176) For some parents, adoption challenges mobilize problem-solving, coping resources, and adaptive resolution. For others, these challenges become stressors, overtax coping resources, and even contribute to family dissolution. (Farber 177)
The cops questioned us and took the body and left . I went to bed shortly after and I just laid there in bed, staring at my door scared someone would come in. I finally fell asleep, but was woken up by a loud crash downstairs. I had never been so scared in my life. I happened to be the only one that heard so I walked downstairs alone saying out loud
Adoption has been in the United States for hundreds of years. Even though in the early times it was not like the legal process that we have today, adoption has united not only parentless children but also children who had unwilling or unable biological parents. My uncle, David Nicholson, is just one example of how this is true. He came into my mother's childhood home when he was eight years old and she was about seven. David came to live with my mother by his own choice. Prier to him living with my mother, he lived in my mother’s neighborhood and would frequently visit the house and play with her and her two sisters. My mother tells me that eventually he just never went home no matter how hard my grandmother begged and pleaded with him. For
In the United States alone, there are over 427,910 children in foster care within the last two years, and more and more are put in each day. The average child spends 22 months in foster care bouncing from one home to another, being pulled from their real homes over and over, and sometimes are never adopted. Since I was just six years old my parents have been involved in foster care, taking in children who are in need of safe homes to stay in for awhile, or for children who are in need of adoption. I am now sixteen, and the past ten years has had its ups and downs; we have had children brought into our home, stay for roughly 2-3 years and then get sent back to their parents. There have been times when my parents
Adoption is the legal process of accepting someone into your family formally, and taking on the legal responsibilities as parent of a child. Adopting a child or teen involves a judicial process where a person accepts a child into their life, creating a new relationship. Once the adoption is final, the adoptive parents have full responsibility of their child and the child is then part of their family. According to the U.S. Department of State, adoption has started becoming less popular in the United States, with 22,989 adoptions in 2004 and only 9,319 in 2011. Last year, there were just 5,370 adoptions happening in North America. Declining adoptions lead to increased foster care residences, which means that there are a lot of children who
The officer's name was Tom May I introduced myself and then we left the station we went and dropped off a check at a fifth third's bank and then left. we were then put on a dispute between the parents and the kid when we arrived another officer was just getting there as well as we walked up to the door the mother came running out saying that he had guns and knifes and he locked himself in his room. May told me to stay back and I waited with the mother they both came out with the kid and he had a bag. The kid noticed me from school and told me I better enjoy this. May told me to go wait by the car and so I did about 45 minutes later an officer came out with the kid and let him into his car and then left. Than about 10 minutes later May came out and we left. He told me he had me leave because I knew the kid. He also told me that the parent didn't want me to know what happened and he couldn't tell me. We then just drove around for awhile until we got a call about a parking violation at meijer south when we arrived no car was in the handicap spot that fit the description so he cleared the report and we left it was then about time for me to go so we headed back to the station and then I left the
Our Mother called the police right away, they arrived within minuets along with three different news crews.
