Now with the completion of America's first black president, I think our nation is in fact not eliminated racism and overcome our heritage of racial exclusion. To start I think our country as we are now, we are at a very pivotal point in our country's history. We now have a president who is openly racist, and we have groups and organizations fighting for the lives of black men and women everywhere. This group that is fighting for the rights of black men and women everywhere is a very well know group and movement know as Black lives matter. Black Lives Matter began as a call to action in response to state-sanctioned violence and anti-Black racism. The Initial reason black lives matter was created was to connect black people who shared a desire for justice and change in their communities. However, their movement changed with the death of Trayvon martin and the acquittal of his killer George Zimmerman. This sparked the movement into what it is today. A group that fights for the rights and liberties that this country offers that are being taken away from black men women and children every day because of racism. As much and many people want to believe racism is not a thing of 2017 it is, in fact, alive and well and it is honestly disgusting to see people act like this towards another human being.
