Hearing the dissatisfaction and grumble from a vast group of people all about one thing can be disheartening at times, especially when it is from our own citizens, the ones who bailout the government in rough times. Seeing the signs and faces of those who have completely given up hope for the United States only makes our great nation look weak. California finds the current state of the United States to be so terribly inhospitable that they, as a state, want to secede from the Union. I think it is agreed by both citizens of the United States as well as those outside this great country that such a huge amount of people being totally unimpressed with the government in just one state is a very deplorable situation to be in. If only there were a way where …show more content…
I reckon it will take several tons of TNT in order to blow up the borders. Perhaps the money it would cost to buy such a large amount of TNT could be raised by selling tickets to people who want to watch the explosion. The advantages of said proposal are far superior to any other proposed solution to the whining coming from Californians. First, Californians will finally be able to do whatever floats their boat. They have always had opinions on the way our government should be run that are way out there compared to the vast majority of opinions held by the central United States. Also, Californians are the ones who protest the most when they don’t get what they want politically. Secondly, when Trump was elected, many celebrities and movie stars all said they were moving out of the country. If California were to secede and become an island, that would make all of the celebrities happy, which is what most people are worried about anyways I’m
California is known for Hollywood and its wonderful climate, where people meet celebraties and they can wear shorts in the middle of winter, but California is also know to be one of the few states that allow its citizens to vote for laws. Numerous laws are passed by Californians every year, some those laws deal with whether California should raise taxes or where the state need to spend their money and other matters that deal with California political system. Over the years, numerous laws that have been passed by Californians which have been conterversial and one of those laws is Propotion 13 of 1978.
The connections that both of these types of people are that they both want to be more recognized as a county instead of being left behind in the dust and not even mentioned at all. They think as being a town with 11 counties they should have more representatives. They gave an example where Los Angeles has 11 counties and has 11 senator, but it not the same for the town which has only one senator. The region where the activists are talking about is represented by 6 lawmakers. They want to accept more as a piece of land. Of course, they also want to make a 51st state. I don’t think the federal government is too strong, mainly because they don’t have complete power over only one state. That’s why there is a governor to hold the state together and maintain its status as a state the functions well.
There has been four major law change that affect the way that california is the way today. The first of the four changes is term limits, they change this rule so that there would be no more career politician , but that not the case. In the old rule term limits rules you were allowed to be in the senate for 6 terms and in the assembly for 3 term. Now the term limits you get 12 terms not matter where you are. This new system bring in a lot of advantage, and little disadvantage but there is always false in every system. The advantage to is that it helps to bring in new idea and people that can see thing different. But there also a disadvantage to this by bring in new blood ,we are taking about the season professional that know what they are
This proposition had an effect because other states saw that California taxpayers had passed this into vote so they also decided to put this to vote and passed this in other states because they too were fed us with the government misusing their tax dollars.
Some states are currently threatening to leave the country because of the belief that the government has too much power over the people and the laws our country has to follow. In our society, we live by laws set by the government, and if any of them are broken, there is a punishment. These laws are set to make sure that the people of America are following the way things are ran so the country will not collapse. Although these laws are set for the safety of the people, sometimes when the government has that kind of power to make people follow certain things they should not have to follow, many issues arise. In the late 1800’s, many issues emerged between the South and the Union on whether the Southern states had the right to secede from the
This means that the other states can have a higher impact on the final decision. According to the ElectionVotes.txt file, California has 54 electoral votes, but it is not a swing state. Considering this, winning California’s electoral votes would help a candidate win, even if they lost from smaller states or swing states. In the ElectionData.txt file, it shows that Obama had 7.8 million popular votes from California, while Romney had 4.8 million popular votes. Clearly, winning California was beneficial to
Prior to the Gold Rush of 1849, California was a meagerly populated, an irrelevant area of the United States for the most part possessed by the general population of Mexico. In any case, that all changed when on January 24, 1848; woodworker and little time sawmill administrator James W. Marshall found a gold piece in the American River that would always show signs of change the historical backdrop of California and America1. Not exclusively did the Gold Rush prompt California 's permission into the Union in 1850, it additionally revived the possibility of the American Dream. Hundred 's of thousands of individuals filled the state by the draw of brisk and unending wealth. Because of the Gold Rush, California in the end turned into a
Originally California was not well known. One of the first mass migrations to California was the Gold Rush. During the Gold rush many people from all around the world and within the states itself rushed to California in hopes of finding gold and making a fortune. The gold rush also allowed California to become more ethnically diverse due to the migration to California. Today California is known to be one of the most ethnically diverse state in the US.
Countries were becoming independent all throughout Latin America during the 1800s. The people of the United States expected great things of these freshly independent countries. Of these countries was Mexico, which achieved independence in 1821. Americans were excited when Mexico gained its Independence. They assumed great things were to become of the country. Mexico had an abundance of resources and even more land. Expectations became a harsh reality for Mexican California. The transition from colony to republic proved to be a difficult one. Although the era of independence can be described in so many words, it is important to acknowledge the unstable, vulnerable, exploitative aspects of Mexican California.
One of the leading danger to the average citizen of California is the increase of crime rate. In modern days some citizens are even scared to carry out there lives due to rising gang activity. Recent studies show that 1 in 4 residents of California will at one point be a victim of violent crime such as murder, forced rape, robbery, aggravated assault, or burglary. The government would be doing an injustice to it’s own people by taking away their protection. Another
The main arguments that people have who are anti secession are that the new-formed state is not powerful enough on their own and that there is the potential to lose their constitutional rights. An example of the first point would be when Maine was first talking about seceding to create their own state, but Shay’s rebellion had just occurred in Massachusetts. Maine saw the damage and all that it took to put down the rebellion and Maine knew that they did not have the power to defeat an uprising like that. But all Maine had to do was wait and build up its power and create an army and by the time Maine got it’s statehood, Maine would be able to fend off attacks. This argument eventually becomes invalid, as it is only good for so long as states
The climate in California is expected to become warmer in the next few decades, as stated above. It would cause five key threats to California: drought and wildfires, coastal danger, bad air days, spreading disease and loss of native fish.3
The United States became further united due to the continuous desire and procurement of new territories. In President James Polk’s 1845 Inaugural Address, he shared his opinion of the “danger to [the nation’s] safety and future peace” if Texas remained an independent state. Polk’s point of view was that the annexation of Texas in 1845 was necessary in order to avoid a conflict with Mexico. However, the United States went to war with Mexico anyway over the California territory. Economic opportunities were created in California due to the gold rush, which brought many people from many different ethnicities. California became a “seat of wealth and power,” due to the California Gold Rush (1848-1855) and its acquisition from Mexico after the Mexican-American War, as foreshadowed by an anonymous writer of the 1846 article “California and the National I
There is less people who do not support statehood but enough to make their voice heard. Although these citizens have a different understanding of becoming a statehood with America. They know that they will be obliged to pay federal income tax and also a statehood can possibly create a language barrier. Becoming the fifty first state can also raise poverty and crime rates to U.S. rates. It is important to hear both sides out on what each side has to say about the
California wanted to be entered into the union as a free state, however this would throw off the balance of the Northern and Southern states. Northerners thought that if California was added as a southern state then it would allow slavery to spread, and the Southerners thought that they were already at a disadvantage because most of the political power rested in the Northern states. The South thought that the North already had too much power and adding California as a free state to the Union would just give the North more power. Ultimately,
