A person has never understood how you could abuse the person you love. Some people find it amusing to hit on someone that will always be by their side. Who would take their anger out on someone so innocent that hasn’t done anything wrong? It’s a question no one can really answer, but hopefully people will learn a lot from this paper. Anyone’s cry for help, is not a laughing matter because they seriously could be in danger. Domestic Violence is a very touchy subject for anyone, whether you are a victim or a witness. According to www.merriam-webster.com, domestic violence is the inflicting of physical injury by one family or household member on another; also, a repeated or habitual pattern of such behavior. One in three women will experience domestic violence at some point in their lifetime. According to the Violence Policy Center, 1,388 women were murdered by men they knew in 2014, and 870 of those murders were committed by an intimate partner of the victim. Also, www.domesticshelters.org states, if your partner has a violent temper and quickly changes moods, pressures you to move fast in a relationship, or pushes for immediate commitment, is continuously jealous and possessive, then he or she is most likely abusive. Domestic violence is the most overlooked, misunderstood offense. Anyone can go through it, but many can’t endure the pain it brings. According to (www.helpguide.org), people whose partners abuse them physically and sexually are at a higher risk of being seriously injured or killed. Most people wonder why doesn’t the victim leave the relationship, well it is not that easy. “The question, ‘Why does she stay?’ is code for some people for, it’s her fault for staying,’ as if domestic violence victims intentionally choose to fall in love with men intent upon destroying us” -Leslie Morgan Steiner (www.azquotes.com). The abuser may use intimidation tactics such as make threatening looks or gestures, smashing things in front of you, destroying property, hurting your pets, or putting their weapons on
