Our building are not the only problem we have a lot of areas in San Diego like Mission Bay, Coronado, Point Loma, and few other places heavily saturated sands. This is because these areas are made of sand deposits from along the Coast. So if an earthquake were to shake that area liquefaction would happen causing sewage issues due to the location of the sewer plants and their lines. Also, there would be damage to water lines and gas lines. The buildings would also sink into the ground due to its soft saturated sandy composition. A possible lowering of the ground level once settled. Let us just remember the earthquake doesn’t kill the people. It’s the environment and buildings that kill the people.
