The Second Amendment provides U.S. citizens the right to bear arms. In the United States of America, you have a legal right to own a gun, and this right can not be taken away from you except with accordance to the law. The problems within America regarding gun violence have been escalating rapidly and will not be fixed, until gun control laws are more strict. It is your right to bear arms but, there should be laws and rules on how to go about obtaining guns legally, and where you can fire your gun. According to the Gun Violence Archive, we have seen 307 mass shootings from January 1st 2016-November 5th 2016. Of those 307 mass shootings, one of the top on the list is the Las Vegas shooting, which happened on October 1st 2017. A 64 year-old named Stephen Paddock from Mesquite, Nevada raided a concert and killed 58 people and injured almost 500. One of the saddest parts of this shooting was that Nevada’s gun laws are so loose, that he obtained 23 guns legally and had them in his Las Vegas suite. He also had more then 19 in his home in Nevada. As much as it is a constitutional right to bear arms, it is also a universal right that everyone feel safe in their environment, and safety for the majority should be the number one priority in America. It is a proposed idea that the only people who are able to own guns, should be those in law enforcement. This would keep majority of the people safe and happy.
