Protection in schools should be an important idea that needs to be done to keep our schools safe.In the year 2018, and many years before, numerous shootings have been occuring in schools. I feel it is time that we put an end to it. To name a few, on December 14, 2012 many students and staffs lives were taken due to guns. On February 14, 2018 the same event happened which is indeed horrific. Something must be done to stop these tragedies. After the most recent and deadly mass shooting a rally was taken place all over the world on March 24th, 2018. Many students and parents attended that rally and spoke out about what needs to be done. There were survivors of the Stoneman Douglas shooting and celebrities who spoke out about the event that occured. I think school shootings and gun violence is very scary and nerverecking being a middle school student. When I wake up in the morning getting ready to go school I never know how to feel because I could be killed that day in a place where we are supposed to learn and be safe. It is very scary being a student and having to …show more content…
I think that the laws for guns should be changed by having anyone under the age of twenty-one not be able to purchase a gun or weapon. If you aren’t able to purchase an alcoholic beverage you shouldn’t be able to purchase a deadly weapon. This is a huge issue because people who are in high school are still in their childish ways, meaning they would not be responsible enough to own a gun. I also believe that assault rifles should be band in the country for the general public. Assault rifles are not needed in this country by the general community because no one should demand a weapon that powerful, unless they are in the military or a police officer. No human being that is not part of the U.S force should be able to purchase an assault weapon. This should be a change that occurs in order to protect our
There are people who believe that teachers should have guns inside the classroom because it can be safer for the students in a shooter situation., but should teachers really have guns in the classroom, and could it more dangerous for the children? That is the questions that people are asking ,and are trying to find the answer to,and that is why this reach paper was made. To show the daugous of having guns inside of school. Even with people who may think it would be safe for students. That if the teacher was to be armed and trained on using guns, also if a time did comes when someone was to come in the school with a gun in hand.
Our schools have been deeply affected by mass shootings and weak gun violence laws. This country has had over 1000 mass shootings in the past two years and over 50 school shootings, killing thousands of innocent little children. Our government needs to put up strict gun laws that allow administrators in all schools to use necessary force against a school shooter or anyone who tries to harm students of such nature.
There have been 301 school shootings in the U.S. since 2013. After the recent Parkland shooting, taking the lives of 17 high school students, the awareness regarding how to prevent another event like this has risen the debate: should teachers should be able to carry guns at school. Media coverage of the debate of teachers carrying guns in school tended toward the use of extreme opinions combined with bias when discussing the issue.
Throughout history many gun owners carried a concealed weapon. In recent years concealed weapons have made a transition from being used as protection to being used for harming others. Because of the rise in shootings colleges and schools are having to take action in finding a way to prevent shootings. The government is also trying to bring public shootings to a halt by tightening gun laws. The effects of being able to carry a concealed weapon has made a large impact in schools and public places.
The quality of safety for students in school is immensely important. Throughout history several school shootings have occurred which led to numerous injuries, and sadly deaths of not only students, but school officials as well. Each of the shootings had one thing in common; the lack of protective precautions. Allowing teachers and school officials to carry concealed, loaded, guns into schools would increase the safety of both students and faculty, and ensure that every student felt secure in school.
If someone comes into your school with malicious intent, would you rather have a classroom chair for protection, or a gun? Some states seemed to think so. After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, five states gave school administrators the authority to arm their teachers.
The U.S. should not force arms upon teachers. However, if a teacher decides he or she would like to carry a gun on the school’s property they should be allowed to. When we see a police officer carrying a concealed weapon we do not panic or fret because we grew up being told police officers were around to help us. What differentiates a police officer and teachers; a badge and training. If we allowed teachers who wanted to carry arms, to carry, we should enforce that they undergo the same, “Training program,” that police officers go through, which generally, “lasts around 12 to 14 weeks.”1 The training courses should be offered to teachers during the summer. And only once they finish the training should they be issued a badge and a license to carry their gun on school property. This procedure, and hopefully one day banning Assault Rifles, will ensure that those who may go through with a school shooting, will think twice before following through on his or her plan.
Throughout the history of the United States, firearms have always been an ideal American tradition and right that has been fought for time and time again. Due to recent tragedies involving firearms, the view of guns and peoples rights to own and operate firearms have been frowned upon and viewed in a bad light due to Media. News sources have cherrypicked pictures of tragedies and stories about bad instances of gun usage in order to fight for Gun Control and the suppression of Americans rights.
“In 2013, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nation had more than 33,000 firearms deaths: 70 percent of all homicides (11,208), more than half of all suicides (21,175), and hundreds of accidental and unsolved deaths,” which brings me to my question, what is gun control? (Perez-Pena) This is a wide term that covers any sort of restriction on what kinds of firearms can be sold and bought. Who can possess or sell them, where and how they can be stored or carried, what duties a seller has to vet a buyer, and what obligations both the buyer and the seller have to report transactions to the government. Would it be nice if all firearm deaths were cut in half or maybe to a quarter of the present amount? This topic get
Hundreds of people die each year due to the misuse of guns. Still, gun control has been a controversial issue in the United States. People should have the right to protect themselves with guns but there should be stricter gun laws about who can purchase guns and specific guns that should not be sold to the public.
There has been many school shootings due to the wrong people owning and having the ability to carry a concealed weapon. Not only could guns get in to the wrong hands, but the amount of funding that goes into providing them for learning environments is very costly. There are many different varieties of safety measures that would be safer than having guns on hand for school teachers and staff members. Schools will not be as safe if we are to put guns on campuses.
After recent mass shootings, the gun control debate has reached the boiling point. We need gun control laws? Gun control, ownership, and laws should be changed immediately.”Did you know that 33 people are killed with guns every day in America? Something needs to be done about gun control because the death rate is steadily rising and guns are one of the leading causes of death in the United States.
For the past few years, gun control has been an “important matter” in the United States. Every US citizen that is the appropriate age, has the “right to bear armaments”, according to the 2nd amendment. This Right is slowly being taken away from us by new laws and regulations. ““Gun control” is a wide-ranging term that covers any sort of restriction on what kinds of guns can be sold and bought, who can possess or sell them, and where and how they can be stored or carried. Sometimes, the term is also used to cover related matters, like restrictions on types of shells, bullets and magazine clips people are allowed to use”(Pérez-Peña 2015). According to Pérez-Peña, “In recent years, gun control debates have focused primarily on background checks for buyers, allowing individuals to carry weapons in public, and whether to allow the possession of assault rifles”(2015). Many politicians use the topic of gun control in their campaigns. “Laws on carrying weapons vary. Most states allow anyone who legally owns a gun to carry it openly, in public, without requiring a permit. A few states also have no permit requirement to carry a concealed gun. Concealed carry requires a permit in most states, but most of those states grant the licenses automatically to any legal gun owners who want them. States also vary in their rules on gun ownership in specific settings, like schools and churches”(Pérez-Peña 2015). In the state of Georgia, you must have an open carry license in order to carry in public. “For example, in Rhode Island, any individual with a concealed carry permit can bring a gun onto the grounds of a public school, but in Massachusetts, written approval from school administrators is required – and rarely given”(Pérez-Peña 2015).
Guns can protect you in various occasion because imagine yourself walking lonely in a street full of thugs and one comes up to you, and points a gun to your head. People should be able defend themselves. In the past few years there has been many mass shootings carried out by mental people, and gun owners are paying the consequences by the government restricting gun laws even more. Guns don’t kill, people kill. Mexico has one of the rigorous gun control laws on the world and yet they’ve massive shootings. They only have one legal gun store and it is under extreme surveillance. In the other hand, The United States has an easy access to guns, and they’ve several shootings. The United States has more than 50,000 legal gun stores. In few words, the Mexican government has some of the strictest laws for the acquisition of weapons. These are not respected and, therefore, in the United States it will be the same because there are many gaps in the laws. These gaps in gun control can be used by society as best suits their interests. We should not lose the right to bear arms because these weapons provide safety, deter crime, and Second Amendment guarantees us the right to bare arms.
In America the citizens were given rights by our founding fathers that were given to the citizens to maintain order in the country; one of these is the second amendment, the right to bear arms. This amendment allows United states citizens to carry a firearm for reasons like self-defense and hunting (“Second Amendment”). Now in this country there are some who wish to take that right away by saying that firearms are the source of violence in this country. These people would have others believe that guns are the reason that violent crimes happen everyday in our nation. The government is trying to ban the use of guns in America, and guns are not even the biggest threat (Deakins). No one should be able to take away a citizen’s right to bear arms.
