I recall in Obamacare that the government subsidized the premiums for the poor and people below the poverty guidelines. I do not agree with that at all. I do not think we should be more concerned with the prevention of illness, but I do think that we need to incorporate it when we are treating patients. I believe if we educate the patients on how to prevent the illness for instance, if they are overweight and being treated for Diabetes, we need to explain to them what steps they can take to cure this illness. A topic that has been a national debate for years is if healthcare should be considered a right for all citizens. Over 43.6 million people do not have health insurance in this country (Gluckman 1), and something needs to change. For some people, they believe that universal will do more harm than good, but when implemented in other countries this was not the case. In today's world healthcare has become a problem for many individuals. It becomes a problem because they're stuck will all these bills that they still have to pay for medications,treatments, and other substances. I want you to imagine that someone very close to you has recently been diagnosed with a serious medical illness. You are left in a panic and want to do everything possible in order to insure their safety, but then you realize that they are not covered. They weren’t able to get the healthcare that they needed to save their life, so you were left there helpless. You were forced to watch them suffer because they were unable to pay for the very simple treatment that they needed because of their healthcare, and that was what decided their fate. Now I want you to imagine what it feels like if because of their unfortunate healthcare, they were not able to recover and died. You would feel devastated that you couldn’t have done more to help your loved one, but then it dawns on you. You could have saved them. If only they were able to get the same treatment as someone who was able to afford better healthcare, then they would still be alive. Their life was sacrificed simply because they were seen as an opportunity to make money, rather than a person who needed help. Healthcare in America should be changed because universal healthcare is proven to be more effective, more lives will be saved, it is constantly receiving warranted attention from the media, and it gets rid of social classes in healthcare, even though many people believe that they will be paying for other people’s healthcare.

In order to save the citizens of the United States from the problematic healthcare system, National Health Care must be successfully established.

An eighty-year-old woman, Marietta Wright, had a long and heart-breaking experience with health care system. Ms. Wright was due for surgery for what was thought to be a spinal compression fracture. Two days before her surgery a MRI showed that her spin was completely covered by cancer. The surgery was not cancelled to address the new-found cancer, so it when on as planned. The operation for something that did not even exist weakened Marrietta Wright's physical and mental health. Leaving her and her family in despair. As Marietta's conditions worsened a mistake was make and she was given the wrong dosage of antidepressants. Sending Ms. Wright's mental health over the edge. This is why it is critical that we reform health care, so that no more families have to go through the pain that Marietta Wright's family when through. When pursuing a career in nursing Health Care is the biggest issue in the industry, the quality is not of high standards, and it is far too costly, yet if we can lower cost, raise quality we will make Health Care a well-oiled machine this issue in the nursing industry will disappear.
