It was a sunny Sunday afternoon at Gulfstream Horse Race Track on January 14, 2016 and all of the 30,000 fans were ecstatic to see the race. All the horses were in the Starting Gate ready to take off, and the Jockeys were ready to race as well. The person starting the race cocked his gun and shot it directly in the air; the race was on. It seemed like every fan was cheering and screaming for their horse when all of the sudden, horse number seven, Chief Warrior, went down. The people who had Chief Warrior were yelling at the horse “Get up Horse, I have a ton of money on the line here”, There was a pair of medics who came running, swiftly down to the scene of the injury; one of the medics went to the horse, and the other pair of medics went to the jockey. Surprisingly, the horse and the jockey had the same injury, which was a broken leg. The medic for the jockey put him in the medical truck and he was going to the hospital. All the people in Gulfstream gasped as the broken leg. Just because a horse breaks its leg, it’s not okay to kill him. A horse can heal from a broken leg just like a human being can. It is just astonishing how bad horses in horse racing are treated. Horseracing is very cruel to animals; it needs to stop because horses are racing at too young of an age and it is hard on the horses’ body, horses are getting badly drugged to produce better, and horses who race are dying at incredibly fast rates.
Horse racing is a sport that has been around since the
Most people when they think of bull riding is staying on as long as possible and falling off and getting hurt. But they probably don't think of the pains that happened behind the scenes or the payout that are possible when they win. Payouts, spinal and brain injuries, and little but very painful pains is all thing that can happen to someone that bull rides.
In calf roping, calves weighing less than 300 pounds are forced to keep running at rates that exceed 25 miles per hour when they are roped. The reason they keep running at such high speeds is that they are being tormented in the holding chute. Their tails are curled, their tails are rubbed forward and backward over the steel bars of the chute and they are stunned with electric prods until the gate opens. They burst out of the chute at top speed just to be held back - clotheslined - with a choking rope around the neck. They are frequently harmed and some are killed.
There are a lot of ways that people use dirt bikes from professional racing to recreation to stunts.
If you’ve ever owned an animal, you know that being around them can be extremely therapeutic. After a stressful day at work or school, it is always nice to come home to your pet and feel comforted by them. Many dog owners even claim that their dogs can feel their pain. However, if you speak to anyone who has been spent their life around horses, they’ll tell you that the connection between horse and rider is unlike any other. Norwegian researcher Anita Maurstad explains in a recent article, that over time horse and rider can become so attuned to each other that they develop a state of co-being. Maurstad also found, through research, that horses appear to learn to relate to humans in ways that provide them with a good quality of life. A recent study from Washington State university has concluded that kids who work with horses have significantly lower stress levels. In addition to these, there have been numerous other studies that show that working with horses decreases blood pressure, reduced feelings of anger, tension, and anxiety. Riding horses also allows you to gain feelings of self esteem, empowerment, patience, and trust. Because of the overwhelming positive effects that horses seem to have, horses are no longer being used just for recreational or agricultural
The mustangs run with a spirit that makes them legendary here in the west. On a bitter cold morning, dozens of wild horses descend off the mountains of eastern Oregon, galloping miles across the rangeland. Stallions and mares, guiding their young. It is an incredible sight, but also one that infuriates many hard working Americans. Horse’s hoof prints in cattle grazing lands, drinking the water supply dry. Farmers are losing their grazing rights before their cattle even step foot on the property. There is another animal taking over the land. Wild horses.
Horse Racing is very contronsival topic. Horse Racing is 39 billion dollar year industry. This is ,major sport and has a lot revenue. There are many people who go down to track and bet on these horses as entertainment day. It is filled with good times, booze, and gambling. All the thing you need to have fun. However, what happens to the horses?
When Katsa fishes him out, she and Bitterblue dress the wound in his shoulder, slump him over a horse, and set out for the king was not dead and the only one who could kill him was knocked out.
An ongoing ethical debate in America is whether horse slaughter should be legalized in the United States. This debate grabs the emotions of many individuals and arises many questions. Horses are normally considered companions that are used for labor and events. Isn’t it inhumane to kill a companion? Aren’t there enough homes for our furry companions? In all reality horses are expensive animals and aren’t always used for their breeding purposes. Humane societies/rescues barely have enough room for neglected small animals, bringing in larger mammals is not plausible. Saving every animal will cause an overpopulation problem and increase the rate of neglect. Horses are being neglected, starved, abused, and even shipped across the country, banning slaughter houses is the truly the inhumane route. Slaughtering isn’t an easy alternative, but allowing them to suffer isn’t any better.
Have you ever heard of the Iditarod? If not, it’s a dog sled race in Alaska. This race is dreadful to dogs, in ways that’ll break dog lovers hearts. So, I think the Iditarod is bad for dogs. The terrain of the Iditarod is harmful to the olympic dogs racing. Also, in the Iditarod there are multiple mushers that abuse their dog sled team. Along with that, the dogs are at high risks of death in every race. Dogs are getting hurt in the dreadful Iditarod and the temperatures are just the beginning.
A couple of years ago, Australia watched on from their tellies as ‘Four Corners’ unraveled the darkest of secrets in modern day greyhound racing. We exposed the gruesome sport for what it is, a lower class ‘Melbourne Cup’ which sends a clear and undeniable statement that the GRV (Greyhound Racing Victoria) have a lack of motivation and desire to fix the sport. The allegations that live baiting is used during training and the corruption surrounding the policing of the sport, further supports the idea that greyhound racing should indefinitely be banned in all states across Australia. Greyhound racing is completely out dated and will leave future generations puzzled at why we encouraged the continuation of this disgusting sport.
Good morning class, the purpose of my presentation is to debate the issue of whether horse racing should be banned, in which I contend that flat racing should not be banned in Australia. Horse racing has a rich culture that comes with it and is a major part of Australian history with the first official race meeting having taken place at Hyde Park Sydney in October 1810 making horse riding almost as old as this country itself, Horse racing also benefits Australia by inputting Billions of dollars into the Australian economy and supplying hundreds of thousands of jobs, also, thoroughbreds are bred to race and by outlawing racing, all thoroughbreds would suffer a huge drop in economic value and far fewer would actually be bred.
“He was dead weight. There was no twitching or flopping. Kiowa, who saw it happen, said it was like watching a rock fall, or a big sandbag or something—just boom, then down—not like the movies where the dead guy rolls around and does fancy spins and goes ass over teakettle—not like that, Kiowa said, the poor bastard just flat-fuck fell. Boom. Down. Nothing else” (13, 14).

INTRODUCTION This paper aims to precisely summarize and critically evaluate both Socrates’ Horse Trainer Analogy and his Unintentional Argument. The summary will consist of a presentation of the charges against Socrates, his interrogation of Meletus concerning the city’s youth, and examine the responses he gave to the charge namely the Horse Trainer Analogy (HTA) and the Unintentional Argument (UA). Socrates’ HTA argument and UA both fail to refute the original charges however, both of them do refute the modified charges. Socrates’ HTA argument and UA will be analyzed using the three standards for assessing an analogical argument and it will be proven that the HTA and UA are not successful in the case of refuting the original charges but, they do come in
Football is often labeled as a dangerous, unsafe sport, but there are many good things that come along with playing football. In the past two weeks I have learned about the risks that accompany football. Many kids suffer with concussions and face injuries from the sport, which scares many people away. But, despite the risks and the unsafe label, I would allow my child to play football because it promotes health, builds friendships, and helps gain toughness.
