While people think of human trafficking as just sexual assault and the selling of women, there is actually way more to it. One part is the selling of men and women to work in the fields and peoples houses in the act of slavery. People like the criminals believe others need to do work for them, which is the act of acquiescence. Others believe this is wrong and that all are born equal and should have the same rights. From all the people that disagree with human trafficking there has been a law created that staated this act was illegal. The wages and working conditions that slaves receive and are put in aren’t worth the amount of work they put in each week. Due to harsh and rough conditions that come along with human trafficking and slavery laws have been enforced, but that doesn’t mean that people will stop performing this unlawful act. Although human trafficking is illegal, people still perform this action and they are hard to stop. First, different people are taken, then abused everyday and the same outcome happens to every criminal that enforces this act on these people, which is being arrested. Additionally, in a NBCNEWS statement Erin Calabrese wrote a news report that said, “84 Children Rescued, 120 Human Traffickers Arrested Across U.S., FBI Says” (1). Lastly, if the criminals know what is going to happen to them, then why do they do it? This question may never be answered because many people in the world enjoy doing what they do and in this case the crime is the buying and selling of men and women to work. Stopping someone from doing something they prosper in is difficult. Although people are performing human trafficking there also are people out there fighting for the victims of this illegal crime and trying to stop it.
On the other side of the argument people fight against this act of violence and cruelty. In an article on Fairfund it states, “Trafficking violates human rights: Traffickers snatch the very basic rights from the innocent people they exploit… Right to education, right to wellbeing, right to choose jobs are all swooped up from them” (1). This quote shows that human trafficking takes everything away from one and ruins their life. This is the reason people fight for victims. Many of these
Before going too deep into this issue, everyone should understand what human trafficking is. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. This may include providing a spouse in a forced marriage or the extraction of organs or tissues. Yuri Fedotov, the head of the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, said,“At any one time, 2.4 million people suffer the misery of this humiliating and degrading crime.” It is estimated that only one out of 100 victims of trafficking are ever rescued.
Human trafficking is a very secretive act most of the time and most Americans are oblivious to the extent of trafficking situations because they are not informed. To help stop human trafficking, one needs to understand what it is. For starters, traffickers begin by forcing people to go somewhere with them and then manipulating them into forced labor or sex. Anybody can be a victim of human trafficking but children and women are victimized the most. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, fifty percent of trafficking victims are children, eighty percent are female, 70% of
Human trafficking brings in billions of dollars into the U.S and all around the world. “The prime motive for such outrageous abuse is simple: money. In this $12 billion global business just one woman trafficked into the industrialized world can net her captors an average $67,000 a year” (Baird 2007). The laws around human trafficking are not strict and vary depending on what country it is happening in. Human trafficking is not something that is strictly foreign, it is happening right in front of our faces, in our neighborhoods, and all around us.
What exactly is human trafficking? We have all heard of it, but what actually is it. It’s a modern form of slavery. It involves controlling a person through force, fraud, or coercion to exploit the victim for forced labor, sexual exploitation, or both. It strips victims of their freedom and violates our nation’s promise that every person in the U.S. is guaranteed basic human rights. This is a crime (Beccera). Sadly, the United States is widely regarded as a destination country for human trafficking. According to the federal reports, nearly 14,500 to 17,500 victims are trafficked in the United States annually. That doesn’t even include the number of victims that are trafficked WITHIN the United States. If you are looking for a defined definition of human trafficking, California legislatures states it as being “ALL acts involved in the recruitment, abduction, transport, harboring, transfer, sale or receipt of persons, within national or across international borders, through force, coercion, fraud or deception, to place persons in situations of slavery or slavery like conditions, forced labor or services, such as forced prostitution or sexual services, domestic servitude, bonded sweatshop labor, or other debt bondage.” (Beccera) This is a crime that needs to come to an end.
There is estimated almost twenty-one million trafficked humans throughout the world. Sixty-eight percent of the trafficked humans are held captive and forced to work. In North and South America, there is more women trafficked than men, human trafficking is one the most traumatizing things in the world, people in this world are more worried about money, then being humane.
Human trafficking is a crime. Victims no longer have their rights as human beings. Bill Flores once said, “Imagine having all of your freedoms taken away, being forced to work against your will, and constantly living under the threat of violence - in short, being forced to live as a slave. Sadly, this situation is a reality for millions of children, women, and men each year as part of the global human trafficking
Human trafficking takes two forms, sex trafficking and labor trafficking. Not one is worse than the other, and sometimes victims may be forced into both. While the two
Every day these men, women, and children are affected and forced to do actions that they do not want to do. Because of the way human trafficking looks to the naked eye, it is very hard to depict what is good and what is putting people in agony every day. It's hard to understand that the people holding their victims captive will do anything to keep them or sell them, these people cannot get away easily. There has been stories of people getting out and being brought back in and of the criminals doing anything to get them back because they think they have formed a special bond. When these people are trafficked they have no choice but to do what they are told or else there is consequences depending on the type of work they are forced into. “In what seems like a coordinated attack, assailants also stormed a government shelter in an attempt to kidnap other trafficking survivors. Our safe house is home to women and girls who have endured harrowing abuse and who are fighting legal battles against traffickers” (How), is an account from when a safe house was berated in an attempt to get the girls back. Legal officials find it hard to keep the girls safe from harm because of the lengths these people are willing to go to, to get these victims back. But if these people do get out there isn’t the best situation on the other side. “ Victims of human trafficking often find themselves
Imagine for a moment you are a normal man or woman. You have lots of friends, a spouse who you love, maybe children and pets too. You have a new co-worker at your job. This person has invited you to come to a party in the less safe part of town, but you accept anyways because you want to become friends with this person. The next thing you remember is waking up in a strange place, surrounded by strange people, they tell you you are to do everything they say or your family and friends will die. You will now be forced to perform sex acts, or forced to work for little to no money, and you won't be allowed to see your family ever again, with no way out unless someone from one of many organizations rescues you. People who are trafficked are used in many ways and for many reasons. Human trafficking victims can go to one of the many organizations for help.
“ If you think slavery ended in the United States in 1865 … Think again.” This is saying that slavery hasn’t really ended because human trafficking is still happening. As U.N crime fighting office stated, 2.4 million people across the world are victims of human trafficking at any one time, and 80 percent of them are being exploited as sexual slaves. Human trafficking continues and numbers are growing larger , 42 percent of the recruiters are Women. Recruiters seek any gender and any age so human trafficking victims are growing everyday. Human trafficking is and social injustice because it is incompatible to the principles of freedom and dignity. The abuse of human beings dehumanizes the individuals who are trafficked, and
All over the world adults and children are victims of trafficking each year. These victims are in dangerous situations. Every year human trafficking continues to grow and expand every year. It is almost never ending. These victims are tortured and abused and they are being considered slaves. Many women and children
This quote presented by former President Barak Obama speaks volumes. It shows that people may not agree on certain topics but nearly everyone can agree that human trafficking denies the natural rights given to everyone. This quote also verifies that this is not someone one person can stop but it will take a group effort. It will be challenging but it is definitely possible.
Human trafficking needs to be stopped because it is a problem around the world and affects all kinds of people. People are being sold for labor and sex. A motive for the people selling other humans is that they make millions of dollars. This is so wrong since they are held against their will to be forced to do things they do not want to. More laws against human trafficking should be made by Matt Dean and Roger Chamberlain by 2019.
Human trafficking is one of the most dangerous crimes touching humanity. Because it violates the basic human rights to life and liberty of a significant proportion of the world’s population, of whom are socially, economically and politically vulnerable. It makes the processes of recruiting, transporting, hiding and holding, and finally receiving a person through a use of force, coercion, false promise, and monies for the purpose of exploiting them. In the article human trafficking: preventing, protecting prosecuting by Susie Johnson on page 3 there is a fact that states “through out the world 27 million people are trafficked”. These victims are used for a number of different purposing including, but not limited to prostitution, pornography,
Human trafficking is a topic that is not discussed very often in society. Many people fail to realize that human trafficking still exists today. Human trafficking violates basic human rights. It takes away the freedom and security of men, women, and children world wide. The diversity and widespread execution of human trafficking make it difficult to regulate and prosecute.
