In toess when the dangers of the road claim yet another victim in the form of a sixteen year old kid. I will be the last to say that the driving age should be higher as we, as young adults, need to be able to drive to get to work and school to further prepare for life. However, there is most definitely a problem with teen driving. Cday’s society it is impossible to be a productive member of society without being able to drive. We use this skill to get to and from work, school, and home. Everyone has to wait until the age of sixteen until they can hit the road by themselves, however, with all the joy that comes with being able to drive there are also many dangers that follow. In my personal opinion being able to drive at the age of sixteen is great. Being able to get to and from work, school, and home without having to rely on someone else is nothing short of incredible. There is almost no preparation for them and their ability to drive is often reflected by that. At least in my personal experience I didn’t have to have any hours logged in with my permit to take the driving test. You had to have hours but you could just lie and it would be all the same to them. The driving test was also a joke, all it was was driving around a block going the speed limit. It’s like the state wants every irresponsible teenager to have their license when they turn sixteen and to be in as many accidents as possible. There are a few ways I can think of that would help the preparing issue we have. First, maybe look at other states laws and rules about driver preparedness. Illinois has a very strict policy about teen driving. All teens have to have a recorded amount of hours driven with an instructor via the required drivers ed course.
