name recognition is dangerous As we look at our states upcoming elections it is a great time to clean house, and remove the people who refuse to actually represent their constituents. One local race that this is shown in is the 49th state senate district. It is Jim Tedisco facing Chad Putman, a completely unknown democrat. Tedisco has served for 20 years so he owns the name recognition, however what people do not realize is that Tedisco has voted against equal pay for women multiple times. It's time to revolt against the system and clean out the corruption from this great

As a teenager, I served as a page in the Virginia House of Delegates and became interested in the politics of the Commonwealth. Motivated by my childhood experience, I took a job as a Staff Assistant in the Virginia Senate in the 2016 session. During my time in the Senate, I noticed politicians pledged to their constituents they planned to vote in their interests, only to vote the opposite way on the Senate floor. A representative should not deceive their voters, nor vote in accordance to the largest donor. A representative only holds that seat because of the electorate and therefore must vote in the interests of their constituents.
The same lady with the problem with my shorts scoffs and gives me a smug look before opening her mouth,
Priveledged individuals ought not appropriate the culture of a marginalized group. In other words, people shouldn’t dress up or adorn themselves with clothing or objects that belong to another culture (or in a way that is offensive). This halloween, many parents were cautious about letting their child dress up as Polynesian Disney princess, because they were unsure of what others would say. Is it appropriate for a white child to dress up as a Polynesian princess? I would say no. It gives people from other cultures the impression that you think of them as costumes, and not people. Some important topicality would be the words:
There you are. Just standing there, looking back at your reflection through the mirror and seeing all of the negative words permanently sticking to you. Not very many people truly love who they are, and that is because of the society we live in today. No one likes to be judged all of the time for who they are or what they do. So, we end up doing anything to fit in, no matter what. Your identity is who you are and your actions, and you shouldn’t be ashamed of it, but some people are. Those people are the ones that have figured out that they won’t fit in unless they manage to change something, and unfortunately they choose to change their identity, because of stereotypes, prejudice, and self doubt.
The last time I saw Charlie outside prison walls we were on the run. Charlie was on the run, not I, I just went along for the ride because he was my husband. Charlie was on parole, but he loved to drink his booze. In our state it's a violation to drink while on parole.
With NFL Players kneeling everywhere and soldiers feeling unappreciated, our country is in shock. It all started by a player named Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, in 2016. This event persuaded numerous NFL players to continue this process. One by one, players all over the league began to protest to call attention to the issues of "racial inequalities and police brutality". With mixed reviews of this protest, I believe that kneeling during the National Anthem of the United States of America is disrespectful because it is abrasive, selfish, and hurtful. Also, I am not sure that all of those protesting in this manner know the true meaning of our national anthem or the flag that represents our freedom.
Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Donald Trump, has been under fire in the aftermath of possible collusion. Kushner has gone under investigation after emails were leaked of a Russian meeting and is being interviewed to get information. The dishonesty of Kushner, has shaken the trust within the government and the incriminating evidence keeps surfacing as the interviews conclude. The news focused on the four meetings that occurred during the 2016 presidential campaign, and the main people that were involved in the meeting.
Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
“Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics,” announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. “What is your topic Cindy?” As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. “Waffles are better than pancakes.” I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. “Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!” I survived to live yet another day.

Deciding to run for the Texas State Senate, means effort towards the campaign and dedication towards the community. This position that I am currently aiming for in District nine, not only will take up most of my time, but it will all be for the community and its people. The current officer who represents my district, which contains the following areas Fort Worth, Dallas, Grand Prairie, etc. is Senator Kelly Hancock. Senator Hancock has done tremendous things for this community and the people living in it. He has put it a hundred and ten percent of his efforts into making our beloved community a place for all races. Being a State Senator in my eyes isn’t all fun and games, the people of the District chose, you have a say in the States

Nothing quite encapsulates the naivete of the white moderate quite like the absurd arguments that “I’m color-blind. I don’t see race.” or that “I’m not a feminist, I’m an egalitarian.” To attempt to take issues of identity like racism and sexism head-on while simultaneously denying their existence and effects is a self-defeating measure in the extreme. Those who insist that activist groups like Black Lives Matter and the Women's March are guilty of placing themselves on a pedestal and ignoring the plight of others are willfully missing the point. This pernicious idea is a hydra that rears its head in a multitude of ways, responding to one of its public faces being made a fool of by spawning two more. Anyone who honestly believes that racism would go away if black people would just stop attempting to bring it into the public discourse, that sexual harassment would vanish if women stopped confronting their abusers, or that disabled people would be happier cloistered is at best passively bound to their prejudices and at worst an unrepentant bigot of every stripe. Confronting entrenched discriminatory practices predicated upon an assigned identity while simultaneously pretending that those identities have no bearing on individual behavior or treatment is absurd. Moving forward, all those who wish to confront issues of discrimination and bigotry in good faith must do so through their marginalized status, not in spite of it. If you refuse to proudly stand up for yourself and your
