Following former President Obama’s term coming to and end and the ushering of a new one in President Trump, Republicans have been eager to deal with Obamacare. Ever since the healthcare act was passed they have anxiously been trying to get rid of it. Even today, you can still see both Democrats and Republicans continuing to tear each other apart on how to deal with it. First off, what is Obamacare? Obamacare is the nickname for what is known as the Affordable Care Act signed into law by the former President on March 23, 2010. It is a healthcare reform law that broadens and improves access to care and curbs spending through regulations and taxes. The Affordable Care Act’s main goal is to provide more Americans access to affordable health insurance, improving the quality of healthcare and health insurance, reducing healthcare spending, and regulating the the health insurance industry. In simpler terms, it allowed people who could not previously afford to have health insurance now get the opportunity to do so. As stated before, Republicans for whatever seems to be their reason want to do away with this. President Trump on twitter claimed “If Republican Senators are unable to pass what they are working on now, they should immediately REPEAL, and the REPLACE at a later date!”. This kind of greed an wishy-washy behavior will cause much more harm than good.
