Release the Recreational Green!
Try to visualize being on a large University campus back in the 70’s with nothing but thick, beautiful, white, pleasurable clouds, filled with the aroma of marijuana. The student that are on their way to class may start their journey to class feeling one way, but before they reach their destiny they are flying high and feel like they could take on the world. Marijuana has the power of taking the stress and sorrow away and replacing it with contentment. Time has changed; marijuana is the same but with a few added benefits. There are many different types of illegal drugs used in the United States such as heroin and cocaine, however Pacek stated in her study that “Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the United States, although it does have social and economic benefits” (Pacek). Since Pacek has stated marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the United States, therefore it should be legal. One of the more controversial, social, and legal issues in the United States today is the legalization of marijuana. Recreational marijuana must be legalized because it will improve the legal system, boost the economy, and because it is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. The majority of people who are using marijuana for recreational purposes have no idea of the history or the background information of marijuana. “Marijuana, also known as cannabis or pot, has a long history of human use. Most ancient cultures didn’t grow the
Marijuana is known to most people in society, and those people that are aware of marijuana do not have a depth of knowledge of the history or the effects of marijuana Generations before us would use Marijuana for ropes because of the strength is was capable of but now people that hear the word marijuana would probably go straight with the idea that marijuana is useless and would not do the society or the economy any good. If the government were to legalize the use of marijuana then they would make extra profit off it because of taxes and other problems could be resolved like better school environments, updated technology in the school system or to just help our body out. These opinions that the people say out into society are not entirely
The smoke of marijuana contains noxious gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia, acetaldehyde, acetone, and benzene. The chemicals in the drug imprint on the brain like opiates (a drug containing opium or its derivatives). One study has shown that the blood vessels in the brain of a marijuana smoker experience restricted flow. Restricted blood vessel flow causes the functions of the brain to work improperly. Some common impacts on the mentality are temporary hallucinations and temporary paranoia. Users have also experienced difficulty with thinking and impaired memory. Studies have also shown that the use of marijuana has been linked to depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts among teenagers and young adults. In a world where intelligence is highly valued it is ironic that many people support a drug that affects one's mentality. More people need to comprehend that marijuana is a hallucinogen, which distorts how the mind perceives the world a person lives in.
The possession, use and consumption of marijuana is illegal in Florida period, in fact there are multiple penalties, fines and ultimately the worst, incarceration sentences up to 30 years. Over the years’ different states have made marijuana legal and in some cases only legal for medical circumstances but Florida is one state that remains to make marijuana legal even for medical use. Possessing under 20 grams of weed (the urban name for marijuana) if caught is a misdemeanor and can result in drug diversion programs if you’re a first offender but depending on your state prosecutor your penalty for having as little as 20 grams of weed could be up to 5 years of jail time and if you have over 20 grams you could face fines up to 30,000 dollars along
Today, marijuana is greatly used in the world for not only getting high and intoxicated but for medical used as well. In the last few years, Marijuana has been legalized in nine states. Medical marijuana has been legalized in 26 states. I honestly feel like marijuana should be legalized because it can help one in need of medical use and people can use it as a drug today; which we cannot prevent because that it one’s choice.
Success in education must be measured through hard work, perseverance, and dedication- not through the deceiving effects of marijuana. From personal experience, I have had many peers throughout high school and post-secondary who have claimed to use marijuana to help them succeed in school. Currently, in the country of Canada, marijuana is an illegal herbal drug used by many students as a personal key to succeed. Marijuana, also known as “weed”, is relatively inexpensive and easy to come by. Therefore, people use marijuana for various reasons: some use the drug as a way to release stress, while others use it as a calming agent. Consequently, many of these students are deceived by the fact that marijuana is potentially harmless. What many do not know- marijuana can actually be harmful, and that it could pose a potential threat to the student’s success in education. Students should consider avoiding marijuana while pursuing their education as they could potentially be limiting their success in school. Many users do not take the time to understand the full effect of the stimulant and they will smoke ridiculous amounts of marijuana to reach that certain high that will lead them to their idea of “success”. These smokers are slowly deconstructing their futures; the feeling of “keeping chill” is not worth affecting their mind, memory, attention span, thinking process, and physical body.
In today’s news there have been 26 states that have legalized marijuana use for recreational purposes or medical use. Although there are states where it is not legal, people still use it and there have been arguments whether or not it should be legalized. I, for one, am for marijuana becoming legalized in the state of Kansas. Many people who argue against it are typically conservatives who do not see the benefits of legalizing it. One primary benefit citizens can benefit from legalizing it is a boost in revenue. Even if you don’t use marijuana there will be taxes applied to the sales and those taxes could be used to benefit the state who will help out the community.
Marijuana is a drug used to get an ultimate feeling of happiness or high. This drug has been banned for sometime now because it is viewed as unhealthy and disgraceful. However, some people need it for medical purposes, but even that is illegal in some places. The right to take Marijuana for medical purposes should be legal.
While it’s true that everyone should be granted freedom of choice, individual freedom should only be given through certain boundaries that the law requires. If citizens are allowed too much individual freedom it will impinge on the rights of other citizens and that’s unjust. The Government should not legalize marijuana because it affects other citizens’ rights through secondary means.
Legalizing marijuana is a heavy conflicting topic; some people believe it should be legal for recreational and medical use and others think it should be completely illegal. The benefits of marijuana mentally and physically are extraordinary and could affect America in a positive way. Legalizing marijuana would be beneficial to the United States and our citizen’s lives.
Most people do not know that a marijuana-derived compound prevents cancer cells from growing and spreading. Despite many individuals using marijuana for recreational purposes, it has been an extremely helpful drug for medicinal purposes for centuries. Marijuana should be legal for medical purposes due to the studies that have shown that it can treat a wide range of medical complications.
At the beginning of the November, with the ending election for the next president of the United States, the California marijuana legalization initiative which is also called “California proposition 63” was approved at the the same time. Combined with the proposition 215 passed in 1996, the ballot’s consequences announced that not only the medical marijuana is legal in California, but also the recreational use of it for people over 21 years old is authorized. According to the content, Californian are free to possess up to 28.5 grams marijuana and permitted to smoke it in their private house or other business licensed places, they can even grow six marijuana plants in their own backyard as long as others won’t see it. It has been a long timely
The people who are against marijuana being permitted will probably say that if marijuana is permitted it would be easier to attain than it is now. If the drug is easy to fetch they will say that it would create new consumers and then it would make it harder for people who are hooked on it to leave the drug. With the easy availability of the drug, people might buy into concerned that it will spread fast among the youth. There is also the problem of people who are addicted to marijuana and will find that it is tough to let go of the drug when you can find it anywhere not to mention if they start to advertise marijuana it will be harder to stop using marijuana. There is a chance that if people can’t stop using marijuana then the government will consider marijuana a hard drug and that will make it harder to legalize it
Marijuana is a plant which has been used by our ancestors for medication and recreation. Marijuana refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant, also known as ‘Cannabis sativa’. The general effects of marijuana has short term and long term effects. Short term effects like change in mood, impaired body movements, difficulty in thinking, memory, etc. Whereas, long term effects consists effects like addiction, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, breathing problem, etc. (Drug 2015) Legalizing marijuana has been a big question among our generation now. It has several benefits. Despite the good facts about marijuana, people are still pointing out the negative impacts of it. Legalizing it has been a big debate among people. The legalization of marijuana in the United States would drastically reduce crime in our cities and form a more productive society through its positive uses.
For decades marijuana has been used as a recreational drug in various parts of the world. This plant is mostly made up of a chemical known as tetrahydrocannabinol. Commonly addressed as THC, this is what causes a person to experience physiological effects. While most drugs fall under a category of stimulant, depressant, or hallucinogen; cannabis contains properties of all of these, giving it its own class. Many different forms of marijuana commonly referred to as strains exist. While some strains can make someone feel energetic, others can cause users to feel drowsy and
In 1973, marijuana was considered an illegal drug in the Marijuana Tax Act. Nevertheless, legalizing marijuana and its associated plant could benefit America as a country. The medical use of marijuana could comfort people who suffer from side effects from a disease’s treatment and help the treatment’s effectiveness. Hemp, which comes from the same cannabis plant as marijuana, could also help our world’s deforestation and natural gas situations. The legalizing of marijuana could help boost economy. Finally, it’s ironic how alcohol and cigarettes are legal, even though they place a greater impact on an individual’s health than marijuana. Marijuana legalization is a very controversial situation today; but the benefits that it offers and the advancements it has shown in states that have already legalized it, displays how useful this substance is.
