Before moving to Selden, New York there are definitely some things one should know. When people think about Long Island, people immediately think that the beach is five minutes away or you are just a bus ride away from the city. However, there are some misconceptions about Long Island, as a whole, that most people are not aware of. If you are looking for an overcrowded, overpriced place to live, Selden is the place for you! Being that Selden is such a small town compared to other towns on Long Island, everything is located on Middle Country Road, which makes it is so hard to get places, especially if you are trying to get there in a timely matter. Lets say you were trying to get to work, which would originally only be ten minutes away without traffic; on a Friday night during rush hour, plan to leave your house a half hour earlier than usual and expect traffic to be at a standstill. I mean, you could take your bike because it would be so much quicker, but expect something to be thrown at you. For some reason, people think that it is funny when people ride their bikes places and try to be comical by throwing drinks or any item they can find in their car to throw at you. There is no need for you to worry! There are drug dealers on almost every street in Selden! How would someone know where to find a drug dealer? Just look on the sidewalk for some needles. If you see a handful of needles in front of someones house, the drug dealer most likely lives at that house. The police never do anything about this issue, of course because it is impossible to find where these drug dealers hide. I mean, if you want to find them, you could just ask any high schooler and they could lead you right to their house, but that costs money and that money goes to unnecessary things like the roads being paved every couple of
In 1983, Raymond Carver introduced his short story “Cathedral” to the public. The first-person narrative takes place within the narrator’s home, where his wife is waiting upon the arrival of her blind friend Robert. The narrator, however, becomes more concerned about how Robert’s visit will affect him rather than enjoy the situation. Once Robert arrives, the narrator tries to understand the blind man, but he is unaware of what tasks Robert is capable of performing due to the narrator’s inability to “see”. In my community, we have a bad case of drugs. In the community of Chambersburg, there is lot of heroin. Not only is there heroin but there is many other drugs that the people of Chambersburg sell and make. A few of those drugs are marijuana, cocain, and meth, ect. But it is very difficult to find out who is dealing, and who is using. Here are some article I found about drug use in Chambersburg.

The major problem with using only logos to appeal to your audience is that you are not able to make an emotional connection with your audience, and most of the time people will feel as if the presenter is talking down to them. A perfect example of this is the commercial for Shamwow, and how “Vince” has a slight cockiness to his personality when presenting this product to the viewer. In order to capture the attention of your target audience, one must try to tap into the emotions and try to implement a particular idea that will leave them with a particular emotion. By creating an upbeat and happy advertisement, people will be able to make that emotional connection with the product.
“Meditation 17,” by John Donne and “I am a Rock,” by Simon and Garfunkel, are two works of art that focus on the same theme. Each piece attempts to describe what the best conditions are in order to achieve a good life. Both works exhibit imagery, appeal to emotion, and conceits to prove their opinion and claims. Although these methods are helpful, repetition is the most beneficial persuasive method. “I am a Rock” and “Meditation 17” use the method of repetition to persuade and build an individual’s claims.
The last time I saw Charlie outside prison walls we were on the run. Charlie was on the run, not I, I just went along for the ride because he was my husband. Charlie was on parole, but he loved to drink his booze. In our state it's a violation to drink while on parole.
With NFL Players kneeling everywhere and soldiers feeling unappreciated, our country is in shock. It all started by a player named Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, in 2016. This event persuaded numerous NFL players to continue this process. One by one, players all over the league began to protest to call attention to the issues of "racial inequalities and police brutality". With mixed reviews of this protest, I believe that kneeling during the National Anthem of the United States of America is disrespectful because it is abrasive, selfish, and hurtful. Also, I am not sure that all of those protesting in this manner know the true meaning of our national anthem or the flag that represents our freedom.

This is friendly reminder of our last two events for the semester, once again it is mandatory that all of you attend to both events. Like three or fours of you didn’t participated in the SEEK fest. As I told you before if you attend to mandatory events or meeting it can affect you privilege as a SEEK students. Those of who didn’t attended to the SEEK fest will have some consequences at the end. Please guys don’t get in trouble, as long as they see you for 20 minutes or 30 mints you will be fine. As I said in class today, you need to attend to the Math and witting courses workshops on November 7 during community hour 1:30 PM room 1.100 NB. “Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics,” announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. “What is your topic Cindy?” As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. “Waffles are better than pancakes.” I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. “Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!” I survived to live yet another day.
Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
Having escaped rule from a tyrannical British government, the United States was founded on ideals of freedom and equality for all people. These fantasies of universal egalitarianism turned out to be merely that: fantasies. American history is full of stories of the oppressed struggling to get the rights they deserve and of the controversy over these issues that consequently ensues. “The Hypocrisy of American Slavery” by Frederick Douglass and “We Shall Overcome” by Lyndon B. Johnson are two speeches made confronting two of these issues. Douglass’s speech, delivered in 1852, condemns the institution of slavery and maintains that slaves are men and are therefore entitled to freedom. Johnson’s speech, on the other hand, was written in 1965 and discussed the civil rights movement. In it, he implored local governments to allow all American citizens, regardless of race, to vote. Despite the significant gap in time between these two addresses, both speakers use similar persuasive techniques, including ethos, pathos, and parallelism, to convince their audience that change needs to be implemented in America.
