You’re scrolling through your feed, eyes glued to the screen. People's lives flashing before your eyes, stories that you wish you knew were about yourself. Seeing people's lives, wishing you could live like them. You start to type a new update for your followers, but the words don’t come out. “What do they care, no one will even see my post. No one's gonna care what I have to say anyways,” you think to yourself. You contemplate just shutting off your phone, shutting out all of the people on the world wide web. You go to turn off your phone, but you type your post anyways. “Is there anyone real out there anymore?” Before you hit the post button you sit there thinking to yourself. Will people see this? Will people respond? Will anyone care? You hit the post button anyways. Hours pass, you go and check your phone to see if anyone has responded to your post. No one has said a word, but you don’t acknowledge it, you just keep on scrolling away. Over the past decade, social media has been a medium for people to communicate with friends and family, meeting new people, and letting others know what is going on in your life. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter allow you to dive into the world of those around you; allowing you to check up on what is going on in the lives of those you know. At first glance you’d imagine that there couldn’t be any flaws to these new ways of communication, at least that’s what we all thought when we first logged on. The dilemma at hand is
