It very well may be that you’re not looking forward to summer as much as your kids are; since they’re out of school, you have to think of the best and most constructive ways to occupy their time, all while still going to work yourself. Luckily, the hot months are an opportunity for children to not only engage in fun physical activities, but also to get creative and learn a thing or two. This is why Wentzville, MO-based child day care center, DLC Academy, organizes its summer camp for school-age children; signing your kids up will make their months of June, July and August enriching and truly unforgettable.
What’s the focus of this summer day camp? What kinds of things do the kids get to do? Let’s take a closer look:

If you’re unsure whether a summer enrichment program is right for your child, here’s are three ways these programs actually prove their value:
Moreover, Crèvecœur further describes, in Letter III, the different types of Americans by associating them with the land around them. “For instance,” Crèvecœur proposes, “it is natural to conceive that those who live near the sea must be very different from those who live in the woods” hence, Crèvecœur’s statement, “Men are like plants,” is another example of that association (608). Another scholar associated with Crèvecœur’s idea of seeing the wilderness as an essential value of the Earth is Gladys Swan. Swan clarifies Crèvecœur’s message about men perceived as plants by analyzing how men have adapted and encapsulated the need of capitalism when coming to America. This need has shifted American Puritans focus on capitalism and has lost hope in valuing the land of Earth. Swan later expressing her reasoning’s through an article “The Tonic of the Wilderness” supporting that people living in the wilderness adapt to a slower pace of life. As supported through the text, “a perspective we are enjoined to recover the sense of value of the earth that sustains us and to practice an ecology that has become crucial: For it is only at the scale of our direct, sensory interactions with the land around us that we can appropriately notice and respond to the immediate needs of the living world” (Swan 326). Crèvecœur and Swan did have similar ideas in seeing how the wilderness would benefit an American Puritan. Thus, the wilderness affected American Puritans by creating a slower pace of
For most people they don't like school. People look towards those nice long summer breaks. however a lot of things happen over the summer, the main thing that happens is that students tend to forget everything they learned during the previous school year. By the end of the the first month of summer, all that knowledge has leaked out of the brain. Then when the students return in the fall, the first month of school is wasted by re-teaching students what they should have already learned last year. It would be beneficial for students if every school went to year round school
Imagine a school year that gave the students one week off after every quarter and every Friday off. Does this sound exciting and rich with possibilities? Then ask the superintendent of the school district to consider year round school with only four days per week.First, students would not forget what they learned over the long summer. Next, parents would not have to get day care except on Fridays instead of the whole summer. Finally, teachers and students would have better relationships as they spend more time together instead of being rushed. Let’s take a look at some proof.
Such as going boating and playing sports, also getting the opportunity to do more activities that they’ve never done before. Also many kids enjoy the summer time they get for doing outdoor activities, such as going swimming and hanging out outside but if they're stuck in school, all summer they won't get the chance to do any of the normal summer stuff. Also they may not have the opportunity to hang out with friends because of all the schoolwork they be having to do all
Don't let them spend their summer months in front of the television or video game console, feeling isolated and lonely! Summer enrichment programs bring children together, help them boost social skills, and build lasting friendships.
America’s baseball diamonds, soccer fields, hockey rinks, and basketball courts have never been so busy with children. The number of kids involved in an organized sport is not what is so groundbreaking. It’s the way in which children are playing or how their parents are arranging for them to play that may be cause for concern (Ferguson). Much controversy surrounds youth sports with the biggest disagreements coming over parental involvement and the intensity of play. Although there are many benefits for team participation, there is a growing fear that the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives.
“Could I have a drink of water?” Macomber asked. Wilson spoke to the older gun-bearer, who wore a canteen on his belt, and the man
Have you ever really pondered the way schooling is done today? Have you ever wondered if it is really the best fit? Some experts say that a all year round schooling calendar would be more beneficial to students. Paul Von Hippel, a researcher and sociologist of ohio state University, says “Students have a better tendency to remember material because of short breaks.” While other people believe that summer vacation is an american tradition and shouldn’t be changed. If I could plan my ideal school, I would create an all year round calendar, teach specified subjects, and begin the school day later. Summer break dates back to the 1800s(Pearson, 2010). Now is the time for a change, or is it?
Year-Round School Year-round school is having school all year round instead of having a summer break. If we had year-round school, people wouldn’t lose what they learned over summer break. The teachers wouldn’t have to re-teach the things they did before. Then the students could graduate faster if we didn’t have summer vacation (Morin). Some bad parts about year-round school is some parents are not going to leave their child home alone if they go on vacation during the summer, so the child could miss school.
The three-month summer vacation block may sound great for planning vacations, but in reality, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. By having one large vacation block, parents have to compete in the workplace to get the appropriate time off and travel is more expensive because everyone else is traveling. Year round schooling offers more breaks and more opportunities for everyone to take a well-deserved vacation
Being outdoors is an amazing solution to spending time with family and friends. It is a fun approach to mingling and enjoying quality time with them. In addition to that, you are outside spending time in nature. Taking a break from your everyday life to enjoy what mother nature provides for us, has many advantages. But, before you start heading to the campground, you should know of all the positive aspects that you will get once you get outdoors.
Organized youth sports are extremely popular among youth and their families, with approximately 45 million children and adolescent participating in the US. There are many characteristics children can develop while playing youth sports such as confidence, self-esteem, leadership, respect, independence, assertiveness, and conflict resolution. Competition can help kids learn more, improve faster and reach a higher level of excellence than they would be able to without the ongoing challenge. Competitive sports can help keep kids active and health as they grow, and other distractions increase that may lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. People argue that it can destroy self-esteem and lead to resentment. Programs and coaches overemphasizing
Finding ways to keep students interested in schoolwork and increasing their cognitive abilities has been a constant struggle for teachers. It is common knowledge that when a child’s interest wanes, it becomes harder for them to learn and retain knowledge on the subject. One tool that can be used to combat this issue would be the use of an outdoor classroom or learning outdoors. During the late 60’s and 70’s outdoor education was highly recommended in curriculum guidelines to enrich educational experiences, but later declined in the 80’s (Eaton, 1998). Today, outdoor education only plays a small role in children’s education experiences, despite the benefits it could provide. Teachers should take advantage of outdoor education to increase children’s cognitive skills, provide physical and emotional benefits, and decrease the bio phobia many children seemed to have developed.
and barbeques. Friends and family spend a lot of time together during the summer time. There is a lot of good food, drinks, and fun music. Everyone is laughing and having a good time. Summer evenings are the best time for concerts, movies, parties, and relaxing with friends. The summer evenings are beautiful because of the sparkly and glittery city lights. One of the best events of the year, July Fourth, happens during summer. The celebration of July fourth is very extravagant and glamorous. People gather around to celebrate and watch the display of fireworks. The vibrant colors and the loud sound of the fireworks are amazing.
