Persuasive Essay
I chose three different topics I would that I may chose for my persuasive essay. First, should taxes on alcohol and tobacco be increased to help pay for rising medical costs? Second, should all states require motorcyclists and passengers to wear helmets? Last, should marijuana be legalized? All three topics are interesting, and have always been debated upon.
The first audience that I am trying to approch are people who believe that taxes shouldn’t be increased on alcohol, and tobacco for medical costs. Lets be clear that nearly 2.5 million people die annually from alcohol, and more than 16 million Americans are living with a diseases caused by smoking. About 480,000 people die a year from secondhand smoke, which means they
Marijuana use is on the rise, especially among teenagers and young adults. With the recent laws passed in eight states about legalizing medical marijuana , many stand divided when it comes to this never ending debate, but I firmly believe that this miracle working drug should be legalized throughout the United States.
Legalizing marijuana for health and municipal purposes in the United States Of America, personally I think it's a great idea. A lot of other people don't think legalizing marijuana is the greatest idea in the world, they think that people will use it in the wrong ways and not to help with any diseases that it can kill. Legalizing marijuana in the United States should be done because it can help people with diseases that they can’t fix with just any medicine, it can kill most deadly diseases, and it keeps people from taking multiple pills a day.
Marijuana is a drug that is spreading all around the world and is now proven to be the most beneficial drug out there. More than 25 million Americans annually use it each year. If the country legalized it then everyone would have more jobs available to go around such as harvesters, dispensary clerks, distributors, or croppers. Thus, the unemployment rate is lowered and America could make more money if they taxed it (Jack). Not only could they tax it but also save more money because they would not have to lock up those people getting arrested every year. That way America could lower the country’s debt and then there is a lot less people in prisons. It would save the country billions of dollars each year and make billions more each year. This country needs to tax anything they can because taxing marijuana would bring in so much more revenue and America could also trade with other countries. Marijuana has also proved to help cure diseases such as glaucoma, Alzheimer’s, and other cancer diseases. It is proven that it can help alleviate pain, regain their appetite, help in slowing down tumor growth, help with dizziness, and help a patient go to sleep. THC, which is the main ingredient in marijuana, helps a cancer patient to gain back their sense of smell and taste so that person can regain their appetite. Medical Marijuana (oil) helps the dizziness by stopping their vomiting and keeping their food down and gain weight. Medicinal Marijuana has proved to help
Medical marijuana is legalized in 29 out of the 50 states in the United States and the main goal is to obtain legalization in all states (Procon, 2017). People around the world have different views of using marijuana for medication, especially when it is being used for children. The benefits of marijuana are endless and it can be used for numerous different medical conditions. Of course with anything positive there is always a negative side of it. People believe that the medical marijuana will affect the brain of people that use it since it is a drug. Overall medical marijuana should be legalized in all states throughout the United States, because it is safe, and it provides a huge amount of economic benefits and health benefits.
In a survey of more than 216,000 teens, results indicated that marijuana use is drastically falling. Along with this, the number of pot-related problems is going down with it. It's possible that this is just one of the many positive effects of legalization but maybe kids these days have certain distractions to curb their drug appetite. VR porn might be the culprit.
The fact that Marijuana is still illegal is mind boggling to me. The fact that Marijuana, after being proven to have numerous medical benefits, and being proven to cause little to no harm whatsoever with long term use, is still labeled as a schedule one narcotic, is even more mind boggling to me. State and federal governments spend so much money trying to get rid of marijuana. State and federal government's spend even more locking up these "drug offenders" for the most harmless crime you can commit. This is a free country right ? So why are these marijuana users not free to put whatever it is they desire into their bodies? Now, of course there are violent crimes assosciated with marijuana, however a simple solution to that would be to legalize
Cannabis, also known as marijuana among other names, is a psychoactive drug from the cannabis plant intended for medical and recreational use. The legality of marijuana has been a passionately debated subject for decades. As of 2018, only eight states have marijuana legalized for recreational use. In addition to, there are roughly about twenty-two states that have medical marijuana broadly legalized. Such as the state of new york. Although, the legalization of marijuana will prove beneficial not only for science, people, and economics, but also for planetary properties. However, the legalization of marijuana here in New York can cause many dilemmas such as, it is a gateway drug, it is harmful to the state, and recreational use can be detrimental
The problems that can arise if a politician were to use subjective measures, instead of objective measures, in advocating new laws can result in several, problematic, dilemmas’. Such as, creating laws for their own self benefit, disregarding public opinion for personal enlightenment, unrecognition of present or potential situations, and discrimination against political equality.
Everyone has days that are very stressful or days when they just want to give up on life itself, but sometimes taking a deep breath can help or simply a cigarette can do the trick. However, in today’s society, Marijuana is usually the go to antidepressant even though it is illegal. Many people believe Marijuana should be legal in the United States and there have been rumors rising that the state of Texas may become one of the few states to legalize the drug. Marijuana has been portrayed as better than most legal drugs or alcohol out there. Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol actually cause more deaths than Marijuana, about 50,000 people die from alcohol poisoning and about 400,000 people die from the use of tobacco. Marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. Although Marijuana does have some health risk, these risks are less severe when compared to other drugs, such as alcohol. Marijuana is the third most popular drug
More specifically, there now is a change in the attitude toward marijuana and whether or not it should be legalized. During the time of illegalization of marijuana, the drug had a vastly negative feeling associated with it, which many people now believe to be inaccurate and unfair. Now that people are more informed, more connected and more vocal, the United States government should allow and even encourage more research of the dangers and addictive nature of the drug which will assuredly legalize medical use and possibly recreational use to benefit the economy greatly and help the law enforcement.
How do you measure happiness? Is your happiness totally dependent on the amount of freedom you have? By guaranteeing us the right to pursue happiness the government doesn’t promise to provide us with it. Government exists solely to grant and protect our freedoms, this includes protecting individuals from being harmed by others exercising their freedoms. The government should not legalize marijuana on the basis that every individual should be free to choose his or her own path to happiness. I am a firm believer in the individual's right to the pursuit of happiness under the constitution; however, I do not believe in the right of achieving immediate gratification at the expense of others.
Marijuana is said to be a healer drug that can help relief stress or a drug that is dangerous that is said to causes high crime, but should it still be criminalize or changed to be legalized?
Marijuana use has been a very prominent issue and continues to be major source of controversy in the United States. Although many claims have been made about marijuana use in recent times, the truth about this plant is slowly coming forward. Unfortunately, a heavily skewed perception of marijuana and marijuana users as a result of years and years of misinformation and propaganda further encourages ignorance on the topic of its legalization, which still continues to be spread due to many private interests who still want marijuana to remain illegal for their own personal gain, despite all its proven benefits.
For centuries in the United States the debate on whether marijuana should be legalized or not has remained ongoing. There are many controversial points on both sides of the debate, some believe that if given the opportunity marijuana can open up a whole new world into medical, agricultural, and personal hygiene products. Research on marijuana should at least be made legally available so that we can understand all of its potential benefits.
Marijuana is a big business, whether it is legalized for medical or recreational use the federal government knows there is serious money to be made in the industry. Marijuana has been found to have medical uses and not considered a social threat. Anytime something is forbidden, especially by law some people are for the regulations and some are against those ordinances. Ordinary people and the educated elite all have tried and used marijuana The federal government attempt to regulate marijuana by criminalizing the possession and sale of it. Eliminating criminal penalties is good and making it permissible by law would be better since some states have already legalized medical marijuana. The federal government will never be able to control
