Did you ever think what might happen to the animals who live at the zoos if we got rid of zoos? Because I believe that zoos should stay, I know some people may think zoos should no longer be around. But zoos are good for many reasons, and some of those reasons are that they are educational, they are a safe place for endangered animals, and they help animals. Also they are the reason some endangered animals aren't going extinct. Plus did you ever think what might happen to the animals who live there? Or what might happen to the endangered animals with out them. Theas are the the reasons zoos should stay and if you keep reading you will understand more.
My first reason is that they are educational. Zoos make seeing animals and their nature up close and they let scientist study these magnificent animals easier. Some evidence is that “the modern zoo plays a critical role in education children and

In addition, zoos help with animal survival. With all the illegal hunting and killing of animals that happen today, especially of the endangered animals, the zoo offers a safer place to live, and helps the endangered species continue surviving. The zoo can also be a better habitat for some animals who would have a difficult time surviving in the wild due to pollution of their habitat.¨(Pros And Cons Of Zoos) this is saying that zoos provide protection for animal . Also zoos are a place for Humane Treatment of rare
To begin with, zoos must stay because it educates people. As mentioned in the text, “He says zoos play a major role in educating people about animals and promoting wildlife conservation.” In other words, the man explained that zoos educate people and teach them new things about animals that they haven’t known before. Furthermore, humans get an opportunity to view animals they never saw before. What the animal does can allow people to study animals and learn new things. Therefore, zoos are a requirement in our society considering humans get educated about animals.
One of the most fun, visually amazing functions to visit are zoo's. Growing up as a kid going to the zoo was so much fun and basically guaranteed a great day out. People have been complaining and questioning the role of zoo's for a long time now. Some claim that it actually kills the animals off faster. Others claim that zoo's actually help protect and preserve the lives of these animals. Only one can make a reasonable argument by studying sources, and finding out statistics. Based off of the articles, "The Stripes Will Survive", "The Zoos Go Wild", and "Our Beautiful Macaws and Why They Need Enrichment", we can truly get in-depth analysis about the role zoo's play.
Zoos have always been criticized because some claim that animals are being abused and mistreated due to the lack and care of certain zoos. However, zoos actually help many animals with research and are critically important for conservation purposes. People need to understand that zoos have programs that breed endangered animals as well as rescue programs for exotic animals that people are no longer able to support. Also, they have many hands on activities that allow people to get more connected to animals. In addition, zoos do not only focus on animals. They focus on environmental problems/concerns as well. Zoos help us stay educated about environmental impacts and animal care.
Animals kept in zoos has always been a controversial decision. Zoos have been around for 4,000 years. Many people argue about the impact a zoo has on an animal and the world. According to the article, ”Zoos: The Historical Debate”, “Some people argue that zoos play an important role in conservation of endangered animals, others say that zoos do more harm than good.” I believe that zoos play an important role in conservation. They also educate us about animals. Finally, zoos entertain us in many ways. In my opinion, zoos impact the world in a good way.
Zoos have been around for 4,000 years, for many years people have gone to zoos to see wild animals up close. What people do not know is animals don't have the best interest in being in a zoo. The article, "Zoos: The Historical Debate" from Globalanimal.org discusses some pros (positive sides) and cons (negative sides) of zoos. As well as how millions of people visit zoos around the world and how some argue that zoos are either places of education and conversation or unnecessary prisons. After reading the article a logical conclusion is zoos are detrimental to animals.
Some people go to zoos to see the wild animals, but that’s not all that they are for. People in groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) may think that zoos cannot provide the needs to wild animals as the wild can. Zoos help animals. They have improved, helping to repopulate species and save animals in the wild.
Zoos may seem fun to visit and exciting to see the animals; but what you don’t see is the suffering and depression that lies in these helpless creatures. There are many arguments whether or not zoos are good or bad, and if they should be removed or kept. Several think that zoos should be abolished or at least very much improved, due to animal cruelty. While, others want zoos to stay because it is beneficial for the animals and people. I strongly believe that zoos aren’t good for both the public and animals for numerous reasons.
According to the text “Do Animals Lose in Zoos?” zoos spend millions of dollars to create bigger and better animal enclosures in order to to improve the conditions for the animals. Zoos also help to raise millions of dollars to support conservation projects in Africa and Asia. Nevertheless not all zoos are the same some organizations like PETA, oppose zoos because the “homes” made for zoo animals only meet their basic needs. So all the critics won't have reasons to hate on zoos because they are building better and bigger exhibits.
Personally, I’m on the fence about zoos. In some way I can see how they benefit the animals since endangered species are cared for in a facility with resources. However, I also see how animals are being taken away from their natural habitat and oftentimes living in unfit conditions. So, I decided to visit Lincoln Park Zoo and see if zoos are really that bad and by the end of my visit, I realized that zoos are not as amazing as people think they are.
It’s human nature to have compassion towards animals and an instinct to react if they are abused or mistreated. This human nature is the foundation to the controversial topic of whether zoos are ethical to have. With this issue, there are various reasons that promote the importance of zoos along with reasons to why they can be considered immoral. Both sides are essentially equal and fighting for the same result, the well-being of the animal both physically and mentally. It’s difficult to determine which side is right, but I believe that zoos are beneficial to not only humans but the animals as well.
The zoos help people understand how animals live their everyday life, and all the problems facing wildlife. They also help prevent extinction and endangered species, the keepers breed the full breed animals to increase the population. Another reason to have zoos is to provide care, and study animals that are sick and need care for. Many zoos try to find cures or medicines to prevent the types of disease animals get in the zoo. The main purpose of zoos is their ability to educate visitors and impact a connection to wild
Some associations are claiming that zoos should be banned because it’s having negative impact on the animals. They reject the idea that zoos are made to preserve some species from extinction. Their argument is that if zoos were really made for that solely purpose then the species in the zoos will not be kept for public viewing. These associations propose
Some people agree that animals should be kept in the zoo. They said it would be safer for the animals and they won’t be extinct. The amount of possibilities of them dying, shot by hunters or any other reason, still higher than the chances of their survival. Food and shelter are provided, medicine, and their breeding is being controlled. And many of the wild animals in zoos are ones that are on the endangered list as their amounts are rapidly diminishing. Letting them loose and returning them to the wild is not necessarily a safe option. (Mylot, 2007) In fact, zoo can be one of the educational studies for children and people who are interested with animals. Zoo is the only place that we can have an opportunity to see animal’s life really close and sometimes we can touch them. Zoos also provide lots of information about certain animals, children can have chance to get out of the classroom and learn so they can see natural beauty from different species of animals. Even children can see them from discovery channel but that’s really different if you see animal in real world, for an example, if you see crocodile, snake or shark in the movie, maybe you won’t afraid than you see the real one. According to Tudge, (1992, p.56) Zoos are the place where people can study animals and their habitat, even scientist don’t need to go
My opponent thinks that zoos should stay because animals are safe, despite the fact, that animals get teased by the kids/people, they are put in captivity, and their behavior changes when put in zoos. This is important in the debate because, when the animals are not treated the right way and put somewhere they don’t belong they change a lot and they are confused because they normally see the wild but they only see people that they are not used to. As a result the animals don’t get to live or eat where they want and where they
The Lincoln Park Zoo should be banned in order to protect animals from unsuitable enclosures and inadequate living conditions. Many of us feel the obligation to give animals the same rights as ourselves, so the idea of closing this zoo will prevent the capturing of wildlife and help end the miseries of several animals. By shutting down the Lincoln Park Zoo, numerous controversial issues and struggles will brought to attention on how to care for captive wildlife, or where animals would go without a home. However, if public zoos planned to close within the next year, hundreds of animals that are currently residing in the exhibits will be transported to an animal care center and then released back into the wildlife. This would allow for animals to roam free without being enclosed within a limited space, and be able to enjoy their natural habitat. Getting rid of cages reinforces the idea of interacting with animals and biodiversity in parks and reserves in a natural way.
